If he gets himself fit in the next few weeks he can play for England in March internationals.

what is happening with him now? Any expectation of when he’ll be back? If he still remembers how to play the sport, I think he’d be good on the left of this 3 man CB. With martinez injured, we really need someone to fill that position.

Check England's next important games, he could be back by then.

Luke Shaw has missed out on 53 England caps due to injury. So he has missed out on more squads than he's been picked for. Think this myth should probably die a death.

Yeah if I was a fan of your club I'd be asking serious questions of him when he hasn't started a prem game in over a year and that isn't the result of an ACL or other serious injury. Then rushed back for England in the summer which has pretty much written off another league season.

I presume he is someone INEOS want out but another who has a long contract so you'd have to get him a loan first like Rashford.

Hope he's back soon, our defenders available don't like left sided slot. He's a shoe in for the position and would improve the whole structure of the team.

Ι hope he never plays for us again. One of the first that should be kicked out. Should have sold him 7 years ago.

If he’s fit to play a few games this season, fine.

But he needs to be moved on this summer. We need a left sided CB as a priority. Martinez is another we cannot rely on. Everyone else is right footed, so a left footer is really important.

Contract until 2027 so given his injuries will be difficult to find a club for Shaw. Turns 30 in summer so won't be surprised if he actually retires in 2/3 years if injuries continue.

With him being out injured all the time and Martinez out for long (and starting to be injury-prone) LCB will be needed definitely.

I'll never understand fans' disdain for players who become injury-prone, especially those who perform when they're not injured.
Why, because we think their injuries are fake?

Like what is this? You're literally saying you hope he never gets fit.

You know there's another option where he can get fit and play for other team and not United? That's what probably that poster wishes?

I would imagine INEOS will be looking to get him off the books next on loan while his contract runs down and let Leon duke it out with Dorgu. All our biggest earners are going to be on the chopping block. I think Mount is in the same boat. Both really good players but INEOS look to be super agressive about the bottom line and ROI. One can only hope they are as agressive bringing in the right players too or we are in for a very rough few years and that could be an understatement. We need a few more left footers anyway. Shaw can't be relied on. He'll do really well elsewhere though, in patches, same as here. Like Rashford Mount Antony etc they are top class on their day but can't do it here regularly enough for whatever reason

You can’t ’kick’ someone out who has a contract. He’s better than any of our defenders on the left of a 3 who are available. Weird point of view you have, but each to their own I suppose…

No. I hope he gets fit and we somehow manage to sell him, even for 2 millions.

I really hope he can come back and give us half a dozen games until the end of season. There are two positions I think he could play and help out. Gonna take a while to get him up to speed, so prob won’t see much this season now.

When people mention him being fit for England they are only half serious. It's quite obvious that he is very injury prone, and he will hardly make himself ready even for England even if he wanted.

But, he was almost always available for England for big competitions:

- Euro 2024 - obviously risked his United career to make himself ready for England after not being available for United entire season before and after by the looks of it
- World cup 2020 - played entire world cup full 90 minutes game. 3 months before that hardly played for United. Started season late for United but was fit tbf.
- Euro 2020 - played full euros, some were even 120 minute games. Missed entire month before that for United.
- WC 2018 - wasn't called up
- Euro 2016 - injured for England.
- WC 2014 - fit and played partly. Missed start of the season for United because he was injured, ans it was his first season here.

So yeah, we are free to joke about it because most of his career he was fit for England's big games while he was regulary not fit for United around that time, especially last 3 big competitions.

If he cared only for the club that is paying him, he should have retired for England long time ago.

You've done your homework to be fair. Just a bit annoying at this point constantly hearing about him going to be fit for England as if he's faking it for United. His body is just broke and it's a waste of time having him on our books. Not sure what the answer is as no one else would take him, so I guess we're stuck with him, should plan for without him and any game he does play is just seen as a bonus.

But that doesn't make sense though. If he's back fit and playing why would you want him playing for someone else? Unless it's an issue of quality.

Not wanting to speak for the poster you replied to, but I'd imagine it's because Shaw's injury record suggests that even if he were to somehow get fit, it wouldn't be long until the next injury. You can't miss as many games as Shaw has and be considered a reliable option, whatever mitigating factors there may be.

Cause you can't rely on him to stay fit for an extended period of time ? Surely looking at his 10 year stay at our club should have taught us that.

The last time he started a game for us is over an year now. Why continue to fool ourselves relying on a guy who is as fragile as him? So that he can put in 1 or 2 decent performances over the course of a season?

Yeah, everything about him is annoying so we can at least joke about it in our own misery. It's quite obvious that he is done at pretty much any level.

Because he has been for 11 years here and his good performances are numerically vastly inferior to his bad and mediocre. Then we also need to consider his wages. I want him out of the club for the same reason I wanted Martial.

His peak was around 2021. That's already 4 years ago. And it lasted only for few months. He really reflects our post saf era: overhyped and overpaid.

I mean I agree on all these points. I don't think he has any future with the club beyond what's left on his contract. But the original statement of not wanting him to play for the club again I felt was a bit irrational as he's only injured so even when he's fit and back playing you still wouldn't want him to play for us because his injury record has been bad.

Can I confirm he is on course to miss the entire season after playing for England last summer when unfit. And the injury isn’t a serious break or ligament damage. Just wow

Arnold and Murtough fecked up big time, handing him and Rashford those big contracts in 2023.

I’m sure he’ll magically appear for England in the international break though when Count Orlok calls him up
