The only people who think he's been the best left back in the world are the ones who only watch United.

I disagree. I think the only people who laugh at this opinion are the ones who don't watch United and go off social media narratives when "judging" our players. Like the ones who laugh at the notion that Onana has been the best keeper this season, just because he struggled in the previous one.

Tell me the seasons he's been the best left back in the world.

Onana and Kelleher have absolutely been the best league this season.

He probably has played for more for England than United this year. Get rid.

I'd be wary starting Yoro as he also just comes back from injury. Maguire as LCB is my guess. I was thinking Dalot as LCB and Antony as LWB, but he will be up against Saka.

Don’t be so dramatic!
I’m not really, we are up against a T3 RW in the world and are currently looking at a RB playing on his wrong side and either w 37 year old that can hardly run or a guy that turns like a battleship and is also coming off injury with only 20 minutes or so under his belt.

We might be able to offset the issue by sitting deep but man

Theo Hernandez, Andy Robertson, Phonzy Davies have all been around for many years now. Please remind me when Shaw was THE BEST lb in the world ahead of them?

20/21 definitely, and in the conversation in 19/20 and 22/23 as well

None of them are better than Shaw. At all. FIFA ratings are not the be all and end all of everything.

The question is, whether Yoro is strictly an RCB, or he could also play LCB in our system?

So what? It is what it is. Just enjoy the new era.

Based on what? I haven’t even mentioned FIFA ratings. I just happen to watch multiple leagues. You clearly don’t based on your reply. Just saying he’s better without any substance shows your lack of awareness about the quality of other players.

He put country before club, rushed back and now is unable to play for us anymore. The new Phil Jones.

They literally all are, maybe Robertson who has declined in the last year. Theo Hernandez is world class and has been for quite some time. Alphonso Davies can get up and down the wing more times in 45 minutes than Luke Shaw could do in 3 games.

The best left back in one of those seasons wasn't even listed by the way, because by far it was Cancelo.

Can't get rid of him. He signed a contract extension last year. It runs until 2027. That was a really stupid decision by the club. Nobody is buying him and he obviously won't leave such a huge contract behind.

11th season with United, has been unavailable for close to 150 games in the last 8 seasons (including this season). He has 2 seasons in those 8 where he has missed just 5 matches, with the rest in double figures.

It is a shame that he has had the number of injuries he's had, it has got to come to a point that we have to get him off the books.

Was it an Ineos decision?

Being angry at injured players is one of those fan behaviours that I just can’t get my head around.

He’s doing all the tough bits and doesn’t get to experience the best bit - playing. And he’s probably getting rampantly abused every time he uses any kind of social media, and perhaps in public too. I was reading Phil Jones experiences as a perma-injured player and it sounds really dark.

He missed more matches for England than for United, relatively

I reckon it'll be Maz at LCB, De Ligt at RCB and Maguire in the middle, Dalot will be LWB put told to play deep, I can't see Yoro being thrown in at the deep end, that's too much after being ut for so long and never having played in the PL

From a fan point of view, Shaw is far more frustrating than Jones. Shaw is actually a quality player. Jones was never on a similar level to Shaw. Shaw is also taking up a position in the squad that could be held by a player that's actually available. His contract costs a fortune and that could potentially hinder the club from bringing someone else in.

Sending abuse directly to them on social media is wrong, but I don't see a problem with complaining about their fitness on forums like this.

Oh I agree, it was just a couple of the more unreasonable replies suggesting he was faking it, stealing a living etc.

He’s won a few trophies but I think you’re right, his career is looking more like a series of what-ifs. If his body could handle it I think we would be talking about him as the best full back of the decade in the Prem, or at least very close to that. Difficult to think of someone obviously better.

Never been right since that awful injury during the LVG reign…pity cause on his day he is a brilliant left back but turning 30 soon, getting past his peak years. We may need to speed up that left back search.

Thats the same with any injured player.

He's managed to complete a full 90 minutes twice all calendar year.

Away to Wolves in February and the Euros final.

Even by his own low standards, his fitness record this year has been appalling. I really do hope this is the end now of him being considered first choice full back and us relying on him. His body isn't up to it, he cannot play top flight football anymore.

We need a new left wingback as an urgent priority. That statement from Shaw doesn't read to me as though he'll miss a few games, it comes across as he's going to be out for months and months.

Jones on his injury-free day -- which of course was a rare day -- was borderline outstanding for us. Even on that day when took the pitch after being injured for three years, I can't recall the opponent but it might have been Wolves -- Jones was MOTM. That was his last appearance. But before he was decimated with knee injuries he was no less outstanding as a CB as Shaw has been for us, when fit, as LB.

As for Shaw, WTF?
