Even Mbappe couldn't get past him one-on-one, defensively he's one of the best LB in the world. Great technique as well, only things he lacks is crossing.

Brilliant. And it was his effort in the 90th minute which led to a pass to Chong, who passed to Rashford, who then passed to Dalot who then earned a penalty. If Shaw failed with the dribble or was outpaced, then we wouldn't be where we are now.

Thank you Luke, fantastic performance.

Yeh. Said it before that defensively he's better than Gary Neville already, which was defensively solid player on his peak.

Its amazing how much he has improved, I have to say I had lost my faith in him since he had a terrible patch after his injury but he is proving to be a very solid defender, he has the strenght and the speed and can't be bullied.

MOTM between him and Lukaku tonight, if he improves his attack he will surely be one of the top top Lbs

Easily one of our best players.

To think Mourinho wanted him out for the Inter LB

Great performance, what a defensive masterclass. Its quite funny how he was better at attacking than defending and now thats changed. Had he grown up in a Spanish Academy I would expect him to have been a LCB. He has been great defensively and decent in an attacking sense. We really cant risk an injury to him and it shows our lack of depth, we should still sign a more attacking LB for rotation with Shaw. Hope the good performances continue.

His defending is getting better and better. He and dalot should be our first choice full backs next season. Despite Smalling and lindelof looking great if we can get an upgrade on one we should. It sounds a little old school but we need a defender that utterly dominates in the air. Smalling is very good from open play but we seem vulnerable at set pieces all the name.

A good aerial defender that can also play football, build from back, step up into the middle should be the top target.

People forget that Neville, very often picked as our best right back ever, had plenty of mistakes in him when he was younger. It’s part of the deal as a developing defender.

Agreed. He became a very good overall FB on his peak. On his younger days though, I was often questioning myself of why he played for United.

What a player.. I was so confident in every one on one he would come out on top. Also made some good runs forward and had a tricky cross in the box which Dalot didnt react to.

Quality again. You can see how confident he is these days. So good in possession and brilliant defensively.

He was always good defensively. He has developed his on the ball game so well. Brilliant touch and on the ground passing. His bringing the ball forward has improved so much. Next step and only step remaining is adding end product with crosses or cut backs.

People talk about Andy Robertson , feck off just watch This fella

Absolutely. Defensively he's a rock! The boy had a rough few years but is back to his best now.

This is his most understated quality, I feel. He is so good in tight spaces, great technique, control and ability to get his pass away quickly whilst pinned to the touchline. Doesn't just go straight for a route 1 clearance like Young often does. Always looks to play it.

Deserves to be in the conversation for the world's top LB.

He is going to be better than Evra when he reaches his prime, i'm very confident of that. Not only he has tremendous technical ability for a LB, he's a monster of an athlete that no winger is able to physically bully him. Rooney-like strength and body i would say

Yeah, he is very good footballer. He has got superb first touch and good enough acceleration to get past players, good in possession too. All he is lacking is that final pass in final third. I believe he will improve a lot on that front too, he has very good potential.

Wonderful game. Full Gandalf-mode in defense "You shall not pass!", and together with Lindelöf one of the few Man Utd players that seemed to be able maintain possession and soak up some pressure for the benefit of his teammates.

Yeah his touch is genuinely brilliant. I've seen him given some awful passes on the touchline with a player on him, and his brilliant first touch always bails us out. Credit to Southampton, he's obviously been taught how to play the right way from the beginning.

The Inter LB?
He means Alex Sandro from Juve.

Thank god Woodward held his nerve. For all the stick he gets another chairman would have sold Shaw/Martial/Pogba when Mourinho wanted. Things could look very different.

What a fantastic performance by Shaw! he's really fit right now, a while back he looked gassed quite often but he's flying up and down the pitch all game. Makes such a difference as he really carried out counter attack once the game got stretched.

He’s an absolute monster these days.

Very easy to forget that he’s only 23 and missed a lot of time due to injury. He’s been imperious for quite a while now

It's got to the point that opponents are not even wanting to try and take him on.

Alves old-manned him at OT, but last night Shaw bossed him and forced him to go wandering inside or back all night. Kept pace with Mbappe, too. Great defensive display.

The biggest compliment you can give him is that twice in the 2nd half, he was facing Mbappe deep in our half and the latter chose to pass to a teammate both times rather than try and take him on, which is something he does against pretty much everyone else. He knew he wasn't gonna get past Shaw.

I must have missed something as I didn’t rate him very highly last night but seems everyone else did!

He has been very good recently though. I just wish he had a little more urgency, seems a little reactionary at times. He and Dalot could learn a lot from each other and become a great full back pairing.

I'm wondering when Shaw will get a rest, hasn't missed a minute since mid January and likely to feature for England during the international break.

Could do with a Giggs style "sore toe" following the FA Cup game.

Not too many great ones around. Alba and Alaba still probably the best going forward but they are weaker in terms of defending. Mendy can't keep his fitness, but he is good when he plays.
Robertson is probably the best one in the PL due to better crossing than Shaw.

Robertson is better going forward but very suspect on defence as we saw against Bayern and Richarlison on the weekend. I think Shaw is the better all round player. Both will continue to grow and become better players though.

Runs Smalling and Lukaku close to MOTM. Saw a real leader emerging in that 2nd half with his driving runs forward. He is a top left back and if he can add a bit more end product with his crossing we will have one of the best around.

Feel like it's been good for him to play a lot of football this season.
