It is bizarre how Shaw is not even seeing minutes on the field these days let alone be a starter ahead of Rojo, Blind, Darmian & Young.
It either has to do with his brother's doings on social media or him being really half-hearted in training. I hope Mou is just handling him like Mkhi. But the more time goes on, the less likely it seems to be.

Shaw not on the bench today - is this Mourinho's way of 'forcing' him to leave the club?

And then Blind plays left back..

Until Shaw performs like Mourinho wants him to He'll keep protecting him as per his words, Mourinho does not want a defensively perfect shaw without his attacking threats he wants the complete package from him while blind and young keep defending till then.

This is complete BS. I'll never forgive Jose if he gets rid of Shaw without giving him proper chances. One of the very few players we have who can go on to be world class provided we are patient with him. Very talented and many posters just seem to have forgotten how good he was pre-break or at Southampton. There is undeniable potential and talent in the lad, just needs time.

It's up to Shaw to win Jose's trust and so far he has not. We do not know how shaw is in training so I'm with Jose on this as he knows best. We've already seen with Micky and Martial that Jose doesn't keep players out if they get their heads down and work the way he wants them to for the benefit of the team.

"Never forgive"

are you for real

I'd always back the manager but on the assumption Mkhitaryan wasn't a prick for months and suddenly worthy of playing and brilliant overnight, I'm not sure we can assume that Shaw not being in the team is a reflection of his personality or talent. Mourinho seems to take against certain players and freezes them out.

I don't get completely freezing players out. You lose them on a week by week basis but then you also guarantee they won't be match fit if they are at some point needed.

There's just no positives in going about it this way.

Strange treatment towards Shaw. He is definitely good enough to be on the bench at least today looking at the state of it. Think he will be off in Summer and will end up a very good player for someone else if he knuckles down.

I will never understand this kind of approach. Jose has to pick a team he trusts to dig in when things get tough, he clearly doesn't feel he can trust Shaw like that right now. I haven't seen anything from Shaw since his injury that suggests he's still set to become world class.

The weirdest thing Mourinho has said in recent months is that Shaw will definitely be here next season. He's down to fifth choice now at the one position he can play and routinely fails to make the bench.

Its weird people are surprised or outraged. Shaw currently isn't one of our best eleven and he isn't a versatile sub. I think a solid pre season and he can get back on track next season.

How will we know if he is not getting any chances? The last time he played, he was very decent.

No surprise at all, if Jose didn't give him minutes in Europa, he certainly isn't going to throw him into the deep end today.

It's up to Shaw but let's not forget Jose isn't the only manager to openly criticise him....

Get a life.

Im guessing the manager can judge the player based on training sessions.
"I haven't seen anything from Shaw since his injury that suggests he's still set to become world class."
My reply was meant to him, not the manager. My bad if I did not make it clear.

"Very decent"... but set to become world class?

Blind was more than very decent at centre back last season, doesn't impact on my opinion that he shouldn't be one of our starting centre backs now, nor do I think he'll ever be world class.

I saw why Shaw was so highly rated, but he didn't have his place in the team at Southampton based on potential, it was based on training & performances. I don't see why we owe him more than Southampton did.

It's a shame and I do feel sorry for Shaw (even though he has collected big wages).
Effectively, he has wasted 3 years of his development. I hope at his new club, he is able to kick start his career and improve, going strength to strength. At Spurs, I do believe he should do well, there.

Just watching Sunday Supplement and they're talking about Luke Shaw. I didn't realise he didn't even make the bench yesterday. Can't really see him having a future at the club unless Mourinho leaves by the end of the season.
