Lukaku - transfer speculation | Gone

But if OGS is so keen on moving Lukaku, why at the same time he doesn't want to get rid of other players who are even worse? Lingard, Matic, Fred, Rojo, Jones, Darmian, Mata,... It would be understandable if OGS were to consistently cut the deadwood
The difference is that there is a market for Lukaku and apparently not so much for the others. I'm sure we'd like to sell at least Darmian and Rojo from your list.

Why did we buy Lukaku in the first place ? Seems a bit in the Di Maria category of expensive signings who would attempt to move at the first chance.

Looks like he’s leaving if he’s putting that out there. Shame it didn’t work out for him here.

I believe OGS said he’d be replaced if we did sell him, so with Pepe going to Arsenal... who would it be?

Thanks for everything, big guy.

Yeah the way he managed to miss the target with that free header at the Emirates was unforgettable and who also can forget at the start of last season when he rounded Lloris and effortlessly slid the ball past the far post. Thanks for everything Big Guy:( I'm sure these memories are gonna keep coming to mind all day. Ciao.

Who wants to buy them? There's a market for Lukaku.

I wanted to sign him when he was at Everton, but I'm glad he's going now. Good player, but it's just not going to work out for him here.

Chelsea were really in for him at the same time. Big strong and imposing striker who played extremely well at Everton for years, and was seemingly ready to take that next step again. He was also at the right age that everyone believed that he would continue to develop.

There were plenty of reasons IMO. I don't think many people would have seen it come to this end.

Really happy to see the back of him, although I would much rather it's Greenwood or Martial over Rashford through the middle!

Lukaku will always get goals but he was truly an awful footballer for us.

Best of luck Rom. He's actually going though, I'm surprised. Finally, we're moving in the right direction!

It's Lukaku that wants to leave, as far as we know OGS simply doesn't see him as a starter.

Fine, but OGS simply can't see Rojo, Darmian or Matic (with legs gone) as starters, either - yet we don't sell them. Even if it's a small fee of 5-10m, it's still a fee and wage off the bill

Seems like he can't wait to leave....the feelings mutual. He'd be the first I'd replace as we look to change the way we play. Then CB who can actually play football to get the ball into midfield and attack quickly.

 ! ! !

I was more referring to PSG game but yes, not too many memories, to be honest.

I didn't get it then and I still don't. Some people made the link with Drogba because Mourinho coached them both but they are totally different. For me he was never a good fit for Mourinho which is why he sold him in the first place and why Lukaku wanted to leave Chelsea.

That benchwarmer from Sevilla probably

That's a false equivalence, Lukaku pushed for the move and a decent club wants to sign him. The others don't want to leave, are perfectly happy as squad players and there is seemingly no decent clubs after them.

(Assumed) resale value, perhaps.

Mourinho wanted him, right?

I never really understood the signing. Both him and Morata were being pursued by both clubs and neither worked out. We needed an RvN or RvP type but instead would up getting a slightly better version of Emile Heskey.

I was at that Tottenham game, but as it was at the other end, I didn't realise how shocking a miss it was until ages later.

That goes in, the whole season is different.
Probably.

Very little faith we will replace him. So that's all our eggs in the Rashford scoring more than 10 league goals basket......Great.

Guess that's that.

I really thought he'd be a beast for us up front!

On the other hand, we never had a big muscle guy as our center forward, maybe not the United way.

If we could discover a new Chicha, small nifty bloke who could score 20+ goals a season, that would be great! :)

Firstly, your opinion may not be same as his. Secondly, can't get rid of players if there are no takers.

I'm sure we'll see a collection of Romelu attemting to control a football for Inter too.
