Lukaku - transfer speculation | Gone

Inter has until 31 August to seal the deal yes? They are therefore taking their time which is understandable whether it’s to raise money from player sales or whatever. If they need time to raise the money we want, let them have it. Does it make a difference if the transfer is completed tomorrow or on the last day of august?

True enough... Whether this would offset even De Gea's potential pay rise I'm unsure.

No idea.

We can all agree there are players there who do not deserve to be on wages they are on.
Lingard - what has he shown to deserve them wages? I dont mind having him in the squad but not 100k
Jones - can't stay fit for 8 games in a row and is on 120k
Smalling - ok maybe he can stay
Shaw - 200k a week? really?
Rojo
Young

We could actually save about 200k a week worth of wages between 4 players and that would be enough to get Maguire on the books.

The biggest being Sanchez of course... But we digress.

Seriously? That is outrageous. Makes Lingard at 100k look like a bargain.

As if people actually believe Shaw earns £200k a week :lol::lol:

Got this horrible feeling that will only sell Lukaku and buy Maguire,we will get some crappy excuse as to why we didn't buy any CM.

Well, if one weights 120kg, of course his form will be on decline. But it’s up to the player to take care of himself - he can drop extra weight if he wants to. Does he want?
Saw him leaving the airport in the Man United suit. Jesus the boy is so so big.

They need to sell Icardi, Nainggolan and possibly Perisic to have any money, that's their problem.

How much is he on?
God knows.

The only thing that is public knowledge is that United players salaries are very heavily incentivised with matchly and annual bonuses. The figure reported by the press 99% of the time includes those substantial bonuses as part of their weekly salary which is obviously incorrect.

It does if we are making a purchase out of it. They won't dip in to funds they don't want to chancing the fact that Inter come up with the cash.

Ah. Seems like Shaw gets a big bonus then every minute he spends on the ball waiting, trying to make the right decision on which 5 yard pass to make.

Would you sell your house for £200,000 when it’s worth £350,000? No you wouldn’t. Especially when clubs are adding premiums to the players we want and add that to how much of a Cnut Inter were when we wanted Perisic. Not that I wanted Perisic mind you but still.

My house would only be worth £350k if someone offerered to buy it at that. No one else is going to buy Lukaku for £75m. Maybe we wait and hopefully Inter come back with £60m+, but I think £55m for me is a good enough price given what we saw from him last season.

I feel like it's just me going insane about losing Lukaku without replacing him with a goalscorer. Is it?
Its glaringly obvious to me that we need to replace him and if we go into next season with the strikeforce we currently have minus him, we are fecked.

Why do we need to replace him with a striker? We have 4 players that can play a #9 (Martial, Rashford, Greenwood and Alexis).

We may reinvest Lukaku fee - certainly, but why reinvest it in a striker when we have more glaring weaknesses?

Yep I'd rather see us invest in a RW

I agree with you if he goes we need another striker.Think it would be unfair to put too much pressure on Greenwood at his age, Sanchez only scored 1 league goal all season, so I don't think he can be relied upon. Injury/suspension to Rashford and Martial and we could be fecked.

Midfield is where we need to focus. Get two decent balanced midfielders able to pass out of defense and protect the central defenders then we can play PP as a CAM or as as the attacking one in a midfield trio. Would do wonders for our play.

Agreed, we can get away with RW this season, but I doubt we can get away with the midfield we have.

It's ok Ibra will come back on loan.

Exactly. At £55m he is still over-valued. The guy is too big, lazy, doesn't seem to get what he is really good at, and has a poor touch. If he focused on being fast, powerful, and clinical with that left-foot.. really smashing defenders out of the way, being nasty.... and, (this is important at any big, competitive club...) influencing and winning big games... leading the line.. really setting the tempo for the team, and club, then I wouldn't even mind if he scored 15 - 20 a season. It's what he has to bring to the club, aside from a few goals. He was brought in to be that talisman, and he simply does not seem up to the job... a shame, nice guy when interviewed, which makes you wonder about how he approaches his football, off pitch activities... after-shave, bodybuilding and all that gash'...

He needs to forget all that. Become a star, absolute nightmare to play against. He should feel like the strongest player on earth playing at No 9 for Utd. Look at Hughes. Cole. Sheringham. Ole. Eric. RVN. CR7. Rooney. Van Persie. Even Tevez.. all of them were horrible c***s to play against.

Lukaku is like a little puppy.

Injury/suspension to Rashford and Martial and we could be fecked.

But it's better than be just fecked regardless, simply due to absence of midfielders. Suspensions/injuries are a probability, whereas no midfield is a given

I think we need reinforcements in midfield also but the longer we leave it the less likely it looks like we will get any midfielders in.

Calling it NOW.
If this deal goes through, Maguire will be announced less than 24hrs later.

We need the Lukaku money to make any more signings because we're skint (or rather, the owners won't release funds).

Been thinking this for a while.

If he stays, his value will plummet.
