Luis Suarez to Liverpool?

I think he's quality, but Liverpool need a top class midfielder after the departures of Alonso and Mascherano more than another striker.

United should gain some more African fans now that Suarez is at Liverpool.

Torres wasn't interested at Old Trafford. King Kenny's first game in charge.

He looked plenty interested to me. Didn't play well, but he put in the effort. And he's been looking as lot more lively since then as well.

Hodgson plays Torres as a loan striker, underperforming side means Hodgson knows nothing. 'king Kenny plays Torres up front on his own, mangerial genius.

I'd say we needed a top class attacking player as much as we need a central midfielder and centreback. Centreback is probably highest priority at the moment. Raul has come on leaps and bounds recently, Lucas is good and skretl is shockingly poor in defence.

.... Becayse Hodgson didn't have a clue how to utilise his players.

Yes he did, the players just weren't interested. Add to that the 2 main players for Liverpool being injured and jaded and it's all Hodgsons fault apparently. Funny isn't it that now Torres and Gerrard are getting a run of games and returning to form that Liverpool have managed to win 2 games.

He never broke sweat.

This is the kind of post that gets shared on other forums.

Who was it that claimed Bellion would be better than Henry?

Bellion's mother?

Suarez has 7 league goals in Holland and is his club's second top scorer. And Ajax's top scorer is joint 3rd top scorer in the league.

Hernandez has 7 league goals in England and is his club's second top scorer behind the top scorer in the league, Berbatov.

This is despite Suarez playing far more games

One is playing in the most competative league in the world, the other is playing in a league which is perhaps not even among the strongest 8 in the world.

Tbf, he had that goal against Chelsea, and everyone said he was on his way back...but then he went into a dip, just like the rest of the team, and all of a sudden it was all on Roy.

He's hardly scored away from home, and this goes back to last season...Liverpool this season have struggled to win away from home...yet the blame was placed on Roy by Liverpool fans, not on their lone striker who barely scores away from Anfield.

er, no. Rafa played Torres as a lone striker plenty and it worked fine.

Hell, Hodgson even tried 4-4-2 a couple of times as well.

It never works fine when you are just throwing long balls at him and he gets no support from midfield. Hodgson's setup for the majority of games was absolutely inane.

You've been largely pathetic under Kenny too.

Hanging on against Fulham, and mostly shit performances apart from Wolves.

No wonder Torres wants out.

That's mainly because Roy never wins away from home. in 35 years he's never figured it out. It baffles me that we ever hired someone with an away record like this.

Dalglish has more league titles in his cupboard than Hodgson has away wins in the prem.

You really are clueless. Gerrard was out of one of those games and rather anonymous in the other. And he was the only outfield player who looked like he was actually playing for the manager under Hodgson.

Well tbh Suarez HAS been rather rubbish for Ajax this year whenever I've seen him

Yeah, but their last win over Fulham was one of their worst performances of the season. Lucky to get three points off an OG.

Defensively, they look worse under Dalglish. Hodgson was right to play a more defensive set up.

Luck played no part. Score an OG like that and you know you have god on your side. It was ridiculous. EVen more jammy than the goal Crouch scored to break his goalless streak for us.

Well, is it on next year?

depends who stays, goes and comes.

If we win our next two games, I might be feeling frivolous enough to claim we're on for 4th place this season.

There's absolutely no chance that you will finish 4th this season, it's nonsense talk.

I told you it was frivolous. But 4 league wins on the bounce, including away against chelsea, would have me proper giddy.

I'd probably start looking at the fixture lists for our chances.

You are 9 pts off Chelsea having played a game more, there's no way you are going to surpass them or City who are 13 pts ahead.

I'd love you to beat Chelsea. You'd be helping us toward number 19 even more than you probably think.
:)

jeez, you make it sound like I believe it would actually happen.

It'll be exciting to see how we line up against Stoke. If we beat them, we'll actually have won three leagues in a row. Can't remember the last time that happened.

No idea what you are on about... but last time you did was 1984.

I did mean league games. Must be some psychic block that prevented me from the travesty of writing out "won three league games in a row. Can't remember the last time that happened."

I never thought he was more than a good/decent squad player, then won me over with some good WC performances and the whole handball incident (Rule #1: Always protect your own!).

I think the idea here is not for Torres to leave now but to start blooding a possible replacement who can be played in other positions anyway.

Hopefully will do very well, helping Liverpool achieve a Europa League spot, leading to Liverpool being more open to Torres leaving... then reverts back to being average as soon as Torres leaves :D

To be fair, with all our draws, there's only one stretch of three league games we've won all three of all season (Stoke away and Tottenham and Wolves) and we're undefeated.

If they splash on him it's an indicator of one thing - Torres is DEFINITELY going...

Torres will be gone in the Summer, Liverpool buying a player like Suarez is absolute confirmation of that. They've bought his replacement with half a season to get used to the PL and bed into the team, it's quite smart of them.

Liverpool won't be planning on Torres leaving and will be hopeful that he doesn't.

You're reading this wrong in my view.

I wouldn't be surprised if he left but it's not guaranteed by any means.

Wishful thinking on your part methinks!

Ridiculous thing to say. It's as if you can just use it to automatically win any argument.

Trust you? Why should we "trust" you?

I'd have thought the reasons behind the strong belief why Torres will be off in the Summer would be so apparent to any follower of the PL that stating them would be almost patronizing...

Torres is a member of the elusive "genuine World Class striker" club. That is to say, it is universally accepted that in his given position, when in form, there are none better. He's a star member of a World Cup winning national squad, a European Cup winning national side.

Now lets look at the situation of Liverpool -

1. No CL league football again
2. No European football at all increasingly likely
3. Not contending for PL title again
4. Manager who bought Torres has gone
5. Manager who succeeded said manager is of a lower caliber and fails miserably.
6. Torres interest on pitch is palpably low - to the point of it actually being uncomfortable to watch at times.
7. Liverpool, despite needing to spend in other areas (wide), spend over 20m on a CF in January, two weeks after their manager is sacked.

Scousers are great aren't they.

Passed medical and agreed personal terms.

Should be completed tomorrow.

Dick of a guy but, should be a good signing for Liverpool. They really need some quality in terms of goal scoring beside Torres and he should provide that.

That said - hope fails spectacularly.

I have to ask. Why? Is it because he used hand ball to give his country a glimmer of hope to survive ET and get th a penalty shoot out? If so, I have to say he did what he did and paid the price for his infraction. I would have done the same if I was in his place.

Maybe it's because he bites people on the pitch.

He also dived a lot more than any other player at the world cup. I suppose you'll suggest he was just giving emergency inspections to the pitch to make sure the matches should go ahead
