Surprised and delighted by this news. Was expecting a couple of years extension, with the implication of "prove yourself". This implies a lot more Trust and importance.

We must be paying him plenty too (or he wouldn't have signed for 5 years) which backs this message up.

Now go do your thing Nani. Double POTY beckons!

Pleased. Not completely surprised to hear loads of "fans" (not on the Caf, btw) treating this news with such responses as "feck off!" and "Are we (United) dumb?!"

I thought he was on his way , hope to see a more consistent form Nani.

I'd disregard majority of what you read on the internet it's not generally representative of match going fans.

Judging by the boos Nani has experienced at OT in the past, I am not so sure they are that different.

Was listening to TalkSport in the car a few hours ago and of the few calls they took every single United fan was against the contract.

Was absolutely mental.

So who dares to start a 'Nani will ignite our charge to the title, 2013/4 edition' thread?

Not so long ago Rooney and Nani were our two best attackers, and two of the best in the league. If both found form again, in a squad which won the title with a relativvely limited contribution from either...well, we might be pretty bloody good, to say the least.

Idiots the lot of them. Keeping our best players and putting faith in them is exactly the right move. This is one of the smartest things we've done this summer. Let Nani feel appreciated and he'll do the business. This mindless chatter about him leaving every year annoys me.

I totally agree mate. I listen to talksport on the drive home. Unfortunately its either that, shitty radio one or fecking heart fm.
I really want to punch out the majority of people on talkshite though. The word delusional is too kind.

Yeah me too mate. It was crazy!

Moyes has done extremely well as far as keeping the squad together is concerned thus far. I called it at the start of the transfer window that our most pressing concerns revolved around the future of two of our most creative players- Rooney and Nani, and judging by what the gaffer has done with these two I am extremely pleased. It is up to both players now to really knuckle down and display the sort of form that made them such a potent duo less than 18 months ago. Very pleased with these news. Here is to a return to the swashbuckling penetrative attacking displays that unfortunately tapered off with the decline in form and influence of these two players.

Now that this contract lark is behind him, I hope Moyes gives him a fair chance and Nani can perform like we all know he can.

Maybe a few jeers when he's made a few too many mistakes in a game. I really can't remember any booing. It's very rare to hear any booing directed towards any United player. If anything I remember fans getting on Giggs, and Fletchers back a few years back.

Shame he wasn't on tour this year, I watched this few times before, and I still had a good laugh watching it again.

It's well known a good number of people calling in are just wumming, and are likely to be opposition fans.

I can't remember hearing any booing, but sometimes elements of the crowd are extremely negative towards players - Nani and Welbeck the current favourites.

Nah you can tell whose wumming and who isnt, they were definitely United fans

The Evra comment was because Moyes was in for Baines and Coentrao

Hallelujah! Welcome Nani 2.0

Naan bread.. Jesus! That table tennis is hilarious as well. You can tell Rooney doesn't like losing...

Hopefully now his future his sorted he'll get himself fit and motivated and we'll see the Nani of 10/11

I've got a good feeling that Nani is really going to kick on this season. Can't wait to see him in action in full form again.

I was just thinking aswell how underestimated Nani seems to be as a person. People get the impression that he's a bit of a cnut when it actually seems to be quite the opposite. I thought we were going to move him on this ssummer because he wasn't fancied by the management, but it turns out we've been turning down offers and he has signed a long term deal. All this without absolutely any fuss. He's never played his contract situation against the club or played games via the media. Very refreshing to see. Top man.

Yep, for me he is our 2-3rd best player behind RVP and Rooney. We would be absolutely mad to let him go.

He needs to cement his place in the team and have a constant run to show his true worth.

What is it about favouring attackers when mentioning a teams best players.

Let me list you your players better than Nani.

Rooney, RVP, Vidic, Rio, DDG, Carrick.

You guys are very fickle when it comes to Nani, very quick to get on him in a bad game, but when hes out for a few months that seems to be forgotten and hes suddenly amazing again, and out come the embedded you tube videos of the Arsenal, Chelsea, and Milan games. The noise made outside the cafe is a very different to inside the cafe, although I tend to rate the noise inside the cafe as slightly more reliable and intellectual!

I thought he was going to win that easily after few points he won, and after that all we see is Nani celebrating the win, too bad they didn't show rest of the game.

Great news. Aptly timed might I add.
Hope he gets a chance and makes himself undroppable.

Unbelievable, 5 year contract to a 1 good game in 10, squad player. Truly a f*cked up start to a season.

No wind up, just my personal opinion.

Your tagline suits you.

Listen to this guy, it's not as though he doesn't have a clue at all....

I'd agree with this. I really do think Fellaini opens up a lot more options for us now, I don't envy the job Moyes has.

We still have the strongest squad in the league despite our well documented problems in midfield. If everyone was fully fit we could field

De Gea (23)
Rafael(23) Rio(35) Vidic(32) Evra(32)
Carrick(32) Fellaini(26)
Kagawa(24)Rooney(28)Nani(26)
RvP(30)

Lindegaard (29)
Jones (22)Smalling(24)Evans(26)Fabio(23)
Valencia(28) Fletcher(30) Cleverley(24) Young(28)
Hernandez(25) Welbeck(23)

That's not even including the likes of Zaha, Anderson, Giggs, Butter, Powell or Janujaz (Who'm everybody is raving about but I really haven't seen much of). Take into account the young age of the squad aswell and Fergie really has left us in a better shape than most seem to be giving him credit for, certainly going off the reactions the last few days.

Just realised I forgot Bebe too.

Wow, never realised its so strong all round: the quality of the '2nd XI' is amazing and I think the '1st XI' can beat any team in England on most days.

The thing I like about the '1st XI' the most is that is now packed full of experience, without being full of old timers. And its a strong hard team who won't be bullied by anyone, dare I say it, as hard as SAF's 1994 team. And it has pace, trickery and flair too.

Moyes needs to just get his head down now and settle. A good win over Palace and a morale boosting performance against City will be a good start and then lets reexamine the situation mid December.

BRILLIANT NEWS

Hope he gets the chance to claim the right wing position, rather than picking Tony all time blindly

Fantastic news! Now start the lad on the right!

Most football fans are fickle, buddy.

Thanks, usually you stalk me to post negative stuff! :p

Annoys me the way people always put attackers first, I doubt anyone thinking rationally would put Nani ahead of Vidic, Rio, Carrick, DDG, yet they got forgotten because they arent goal scorers.

In a generalization I think he's one of our better attacking players. I want him to get back into touch and on form and make the left his own again.

The problem is, that's isn't our 'first XI', at least at the moment. I really hope it becomes our first XI, as I think thats a potentially wonderful team, but I have my doubts as to how often we'll actually see it.

I think though some players get tagged as something, in Nani's case "inconsistency" and pundits just repeat it again and again regardless of the facts and it usually spreads to people who maybe only causally watch a player. Exact same happened with Valencia last season, until then he was seen as a reliable outlet and so he got away from any criticism from people outside the fanbase for a while. There's no need to go through all the stats on Nani or anything, but I think the consistency thing gets massively overplayed personally, not saying he couldn't do better more often but I don't know that doesn't apply to except for the very best players, nor can I think or any wingers in the league who are shining examples of consistency.
