We're finally seeing him realise how good he can become, and believe he can be the one to decide games

We thought we saw that a year ago.

The scary thing is, he's the Premierships best winger (and arguably this seasons best player) and he still has room for improvement.

Much better in the second half and drove the side on. Keep it up Nani, rub number 19 in CarraCunts face.

Came on in the 69th minute today against Finland and assisted Portugal's second goal 2 minutes later:

Nani should learn from Scott Parker  Or maybe he should carry on what he's doing and being a major player for a top team. What a shit article, people like that shouldn't be allowed to write.

That's pathetic. His irrational hatred of Nani made him write that rubbish. It's almost like he's rehashing the same tired old stereotypes from years ago with the addition of Balotelli's behaviour for dramatic effect.

Nani's clearly improved his conduct, team work and effectiveness on the pitch. Only a fool refuses to see it.

John Terry? Holt is such a twat. Another begrudger and is reverting to a stereotype about Nani (and players of his ilk) as a defense. Everybody has noticed that Nani has cut a lot of that crap out of his game but in typical Holt style he's about 6 months behind the rest of us.

Edit: Raven sums up my feelings better than I could! Great post mate.

"I don’t like him.

I don’t like the way he plays the game.

I don’t like his puerility, his petulance or his play-acting.

I don’t like his blatant efforts to gain an unfair advantage."

Fair enough - most of us wish he'd cut out the play acting and over reaction and pick himself up and get on with it. The rest of that is bollocks though. Lets overlook the skill, flair and productivity and focus on his personality because that's what people look for in a footballer... John Terry is a fine upstanding gentleman, who would never seek to gain an unfair advantage - I think I'd vote for him instead, despite him doing absolutely bugger all this season...

Much of the article is made up of a rant about that goal against Spurs. Dodgy as it was, it was not Nani's fault Clattenburg is a dozy cnut, is it?

"He waves imaginary cards at referees to try to get opponents booked."

When, Oliver?

"He plays with a scowl. He plays with anger. He plays like everyone is against him."

And it works a treat, doesn't it!?

Parker has been an inspiration at Upton Park, playing through injury, even playing against Spurs 10 days ago a few hours after the death of his father. He has been a beacon of excellence in a struggling team.

Damn, never knew about that. Makes me like Parker even more. Underrated player, and not many out there who can match his fight.

And people thinking Wilshere and Terry are candidates for POTY are clearly mentally handicapped or visually impaired. Or stupid.

Also interesting to consider that by Holt's criteria, Ronaldo, Rooney, Torres, Drogba and Gerrard have never been contenders for POTY.

Was also the best player on the pitch against Chile, and for the first 60 minutes was playing some of the best football he's played all season - the vast majority of their attacking play came through him. If he'd had his shooting boots on it might have been up there with his best performances of the season.

Set up a goal from a corner too.

Nani has been absolutely brilliant, made a huge huge step forward in the last 15 months, and if someone doesnt see that or recognises him as one of the best players in England, I couldnt care less

Valid criticism.

So probably 95% of footballers should be criticized because they don't play with a smile on their face? If that is how he manages to motivate himself and play at the level he is at - it's hardly a bad thing.

Does Terry play with a smile on his face or doe she look like he just got told that he can't screw other players WAGs anymore?

Holt's not only an idiot - hypocrite as well.

Oliver Holt is an utter spastic. He pedals his shit to a bunch of even bigger spastics who read his paper

Anyone have any idea why he barely featured against the Hammers?

Even if it worked out great in the end, I'm still baffled by the decision to leave our best offensive player on the bench when we're down and desperately in need of a spark.

He's not our best offensive player, and it's possible he wasn't fully fit, or that Ferguson felt putting more strikers on was more important, given that we already had more wingers on the pitch than we knew what to do with.

Who do you have ahead of him?

He was rested it seems, and rightly so; big few weeks ahead + Park needed a game. Hardly a surprising decision at all really.

I'd say it's surprising, and risky, when we're two nil down at half-time. But chuffed to bits that we made it without him, and he should hopefully be in top form come Wednesday, thanks to the rest!

And kietotheworld, we'll just have to agree to disagree here, because to suggest that Berbatov is better than Nani is, to me, absolutely ridiculous! Sure, I'll humour you with Rooney (even though I feel based on the last year he's not even close), but to suggest Berbatov is just shocking to me.

He's been our best offensive player since Christmas of 2009. Not even a debate, the others have been good and bad while he's consistantly been as good as anyone else in the team

Seconded.

That last bit isn't true at all.

He's had ups and downs like everyone else. Usually after picking up an injury. Had a dip in form recently after his groin strain and again in his first game back after cutting his shin open.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes team-mate Nani would be a deserving winner of the PFA's Player of the Year award this season after being his side's "most productive player" over the course of the campaign.

The Portuguese winger is in the running for the award after an excellent season at Old Trafford, netting which several scintillating goals and laying on 16 assists - five more than any other player.

Spurs winger Gareth Bale, Arsenal's flamboyant Frenchman Samir Nasri, and United's Dimitar Berbatov are also believed to be frontrunners for the award, but former England captain Ferdinand believes that Nani would be a more deserving winner.

"Nani's my player of the year," he told the Manchester United's official magazine.

"I've gone on about Samir Nasri and Gareth Bale in the last few months, but Nani beats them both.

"He's been involved in a crazy number of our goals this season - it's ridiculous.

"He's easily been our most productive player, without a doubt.

"Berba's scored a lot of goals but when we've needed that little bit of magic, Nani's been the man to step up."

Ferdinand, who has been suffering from injury problems this season, says that he loves watching his team-mate work his magic on the pitch.

"He's the kind of player who gets me off my seat," added Ferdinand.

"He's exciting to watch and he always wants to beat his man, which is a great trait in an attacker. He always wants the ball, he's determined and he scores regularly, too.

"I don't think he gets the plaudits he deserves. A lot of people overlook him but he's been as good as anybody else in the league this season."

Rio knows
