I think he's stupid. Y'now they say that Rooney is a clever player (and he is) well Nani is the flip side...stupid as feck but with awesome potential.

They're clever in different ways. Believe it or not, him having quick feet, not needing much backlift to get a shot or cross off, a solid left foot, great bag of tricks and knows how to put his defender off his balance and knowing which spaces to cross in is quite the ensemble of skills for a winger.

Nonsense to suggest that Nani doesn't have the potential to be considered a world class winger.

I'd love for Nani to be a success but the fact is (IMHO) he's not clever enough to play for us. Sure he's had plenty of assists this year but he has taken all corners & free kicks in a pretty piss poor star to a season.

Not a WU and I'm not a WUM, I just think he's not cut it for us...and that's the opinion I have and get from the guys I drink with before the game, during and after the game. Maybe some of you internet geeks need to get of your fat arses and get to the game and see how he is playing for real instead of reading stats and spouting bollocks. If you're to far away then how about supporting a local team!!!
So....you don't think that a winger who has got 3 goals and 6 assists for us, 2 months into the season, even when he is playing piss poor, is clever enough to play for us.

Fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion however foolish it sounds. Beats Rooney's 1 goal, 3 assists and piss poor freekicks any day though doesn't it.

Do you understand the football brain? Knowing where to run, where to receive the ball, when to start your run...I could carry on.

Rooney has it, Nani doesn't.

Oh please do, I'd absolutely love to hear you elaborate on the football brain.

No wonder your opinion on his performances are so far off the mark. Nani has been right up there alongside our best players this season. The fact that you still fail to recognise that shows there must be something wrong with you, not everyone else. You'll be amazed what you see when you're not inebriated.

Aye, drink dulls the senses and blurs the vision. Explains a lot that.

He already has, you're just too stupid to see it.

If your posts came a year ago a lot of people would understand. In this past year he has 100% completely proven himself at United, all doubts and myths shattered. Pay attention next time.

This.

A lot of people are still talking about his potential but he has already shown himself to be a quality player. How many wingers have been better than him since January? 2010 is to Nani what 2006 was to Ronaldo. Remains to be seen how much more he will develop but even if he doesn't get better there's barely a handful of wingers in Europe performing at his level at the moment. He's been our best and most consistent performer this season and the only one even close is Berbatov. Nani and Berbatov, eh? Who'd have thunk it.

- He already is a success.

- So you must have great judgement then...

- Thought you said you aren't a WUM? You may not be a WUM, but you're certainly a prick :)

- Takes one to know one eh?

Rooney has it, Nani doesn't.
- For someone who doesn't have a footballing brain he sure does get alot of goals, assists and tends to get picked by the best managers in the game. Hold up, you're calling Nani stupid right?

Knobhead...I GO to every game.
- So this must be where we get our awful reputation from eh?

Summary: Mungy's been dropped on his head too many times. Love your charm though, you have a real way with words. Shame none of them are intelligent :)

I knew you was going to come on the Caf and blame this on 'alcohol', even though you strictly promised you wouldn't.

...So I decided to film you before the act to truly expose you

Basically as I see it Nani has all the tools to be one of the best footballers in the world but he needs to be more aware of where players are around him. Before last year he was playing at lets say 25% awareness - he set up a decent amount of goals but was mainly frustrating in the amount of chances that he could have set up but didn't.

From January to now he's been maybe 50% aware (again I'm not getting these numbers from anywhere, they're just to illustrate my point). He still regularly has frustrating moments where he should pass but instead opted to try and dribble it around a man or shoot, but they're more than forgiven by the amount of goals he's regularly scoring and assisting.

When his awareness of what's going on around him increases to 80%-90% ish (again not a stat, just a number to illustrate a point), like for example Scholes, Berba, or Giggs... well then we'll have one of the best players in the world on our hands. And possibly centrally too (I can't help but think that he's got a future in the centre and is played mainly as a winger at the moment to compensate for his shortcomings regarding awareness - so he only has to worry about one direction as it were). Although that last bit might just be me being fanciful.

You've not noticed people bemoaning our lack of cutting edge from frees and corners this season and last?

Great post, couldn't say it better.

Knobhead...I GO to every game.

Ahhh I see, you "go to every game" so you know more than any other? Well i'd say the "internet geeks" are the ones with the wealth of knowledge here.

I also love how you just completely dismissed the fact Nani has directly contributed to over half of our goals this season sighting the reason being "lack of a football brain." Utterley moronic.

Top Red.

player of the year so far for me

he's been fantastic

I agree.

He still does have times when he frustrates but then name me a player of his ilk that doesnt?

If he didnt take the odd risk or gamble then he would have half of the assists or goals that he does.

The special thing about Nani is that he is a potential m atch winner. When it's not going well you just know he has the ability to pull something out of the bag and win us the game.

Like Ronaldo though, he's the sort of player that I expect to move on in his mid to late 20s.

According to Fantasy Football Morrison and Brunt was better than Nani yesterday. Please explain how this is possible.

Do you mean centrally as CMF or more as a support striker? Either way this is the only part i disagree with in your otherwise spot on post. Nanis attributes are better used on the wing, he has the ability to play central but it would be how we used to use Ronaldo, on the wing he has that freedom to come inside which is as deadly as his ability to get crosses in. Sticking him upfront would lose a good outlet of getting crosses in

I don't mean as a central midfielder like a Carrick/Scholes/Fletch, or as a big striker up top like Ronaldo did, I meant as in when we need an advanced midfielder when we play 4231 in big games (with him being the centre of the three). I don't want to say "free role" but basically that purely attacking midfielder that the caf seems to want us to sign every year.

Again, I'm almost definitely being fanciful but I feel that where he might end up if he keeps coming on as much as he has in the last year (albeit not permanently, only when the formation called for it).

(and I'm not at all advocating that we should be playing him there now)

Interesting stat after todays game on Nani, thats now 28 goals + Assists for him in his last 28 matches.

Do you have a link to that stat, Allforone?
I have only been able to count 25 Goals+Assists in his last 28 games.

But that's a combination of Premierleague.com and ESPN, and ESPN doesn't count all the assists (Rebounded shots, penalties etc.), which might explain it.

Here's what I've got (Including his games for Portugal):

Damn ESPN. Then we just need 2 more assists. Probably in the CL games or the games for Portugal.

EDIT: Just spotted one myself. He assisted Ronaldo in their win against Denmark. ESPN is rubbish.
