i'd say malouda just edges it ahead of nani, but only just. Think it shows the lack of quality wingers in the premier league, or in today's game in general, more than anything.

Yeah it is the age of 4-5-1/4-3-3, it's more about being a hybrid attacker, look at the best wingers, Messi and Ronaldo, they are also the best attackers but they long since traded in the winger name tame in and are just attacking CMs or strikers depending on the formation and game

Nani seems tohave found an extra yard of pace this season. I thought he as fabulous last night despite being offered very little support at times.

I'd still say Malouda is in front, but as you say it's close.

Nani has been superb so far in terms of end product. He has drifted in and out of games, but it's hard to argue with his goals/assists.

If Nani had Valencia's crossing ability, then he would be the best player in the league. Alas, he doesn't, but he will improve in time.

I think Nani has been crossing pretty well lately.

If he cut out his play acting, I think more non United fans would see him for what he is - a fecking good, talented young player.

Very true.

He is also very good at picking pockets and does a mean Michael Jackson impersonation.

Nani has more moments of brilliance than Malouda but is less consistent and his passing/crossing is erratic. Still, wouldn't swap him for Malouda as he is more talented. One of our most important players right now.

You're not being funny in any thread today, despite what you think.

I am never funny in any thread, despite what I think.

I would keep my eye or hand on my wallet if Nani was in the same room as me though.

If Nani had Valencia's crossing ability he'd be a worse, less spectacular player. We're lucky he doesnt.

His crossing has been a bit erratic so far this season, going from the brilliant to the crap, but he's showed several times that he's more than capable of putting in some amazing crosses which is why he's managed so many assists since coming here.

Though what has impressed me the most about his change since the new year is how easy he seems to get past players now. It's amazing what confidence can do to a winger - he just seems to glide past every defender he faces. Ronaldo on the other hand has been struggle to beat anyone so far this season.

A lot depends on Nani this season.

You can still be spectacular and be able to deliver a decent ball in. Its not a huge criticism, and Nani is coming along nicely, but he needs to improve this part of his game and if he does we might be able to start asking 'is Nani the best winger in Europe?'

I've noticed that too.

A lot less of his previous stop-start attempts to trick them and a lot more willing to back himself to beat them for pace. It's made him a much more direct and effective player.

Interesting point that.

Thing is with Nani, he does have immense crossing ability, it's just so erratic. He's not as consistently accurate with crosses as Valencia, but sometime he can whip balls into the box that Valencia could only dream of doing.

Usually gets a bump around now, doesn't it?

Valencia is a better traditional winger, but Nani brings unpredictability.

Nani on the right is a different beast, even though it hurts quite a few to say that. He just looks a much dangerous player on that flank and so natural, keeps this up and he will be a contender for player of the year.

Yes. Meaning SAF made a mistake in replacing Rooooon with a Val... He should have bought a Left Winger instead.

What, buying Valencia, who had a brilliant debut season and helped Rooney to his most productive season, was a mistake? Seriously?

Very harsh to say that in hindsight, its always sensible to have at least two wide players for every position and there's no doubt that having Valencia there as competition has given Nani an incentive to up his game.

That said we definitely need an out and out left footed winger in my opinion. Park/Giggs doesn't fill me with confidence.

I don't support Manchester United. But it seems silly that your two best wingers prefer to play on the right.

It would have made more sense to invest in one happy to play on the opposite flank.

Like Nani? Phew, I thought for a minute there we had a problem.

had a good game today.

hes still a bit wasteful and his decision making has to improve but he was the only player i had my faith in towards the end of the game.

Lets be honest, Nani currently is probably one of our best players in the squad. He's starting to carry us just like Ronaldo did at points.

Could see he was angry at the team for fecking the 2-0 lead and from that point onwards he found it difficult and didn't get much of the ball. We need to wrap this kid in bubble wrap, if he gets injured we're royally screwed this season.

indeed!

Yeah he was fantastic for most of the match. But when everyone lost the plot in the last 20 minutes, Nani started to as well.

True.
He was very good but he has to become a bit more case-hardened.
Comes with age though, I'm sure.

Our best player.

We didn't throw the game away today because of him and he should be happy with that at least. Right now he just looks so sharp and decisive in the final third. Goals and assists will come from him in this form and I dread to think what will happen if we lose him. He can be a contender for some big awards if he continues on this path.
