Lucas da Silva | Signed for PSG

I don't think we'll see any kind of movement until after the Olympics, as Lucas himself explicitly told.

@Bob_Cass You're a Glazer apologist! What does Fergies arsehole taste like? your nothing but a big brown nosed liar!

While I don't know enough of either player, I remember being upset we signed Ronaldo and not Quaresma.

I find it annoying when people constantly refer back to the Ronaldo situation. That's a void argument unless there's evidence to prove that Lucas has a better footballing attitude than Oscar by a long, long way.

If Sao Paulo agreed a deal for him with us, it's indeed more than possible that Fergie not travelling with the squad is because of the deal.
He held many talks with Kagawa as well to persuade him to come to us. He's probably doing the same with Lucas.

Aye, if we land Kagawa, RvP and Lucas it will be because SAF has stepped up his transfer game.

I doubt we'll get RvP but Moura is looking very likely.

To those who have seen him a decent amount, and I recognize there must be very few, is he actually a great dribbled or not? Some people have mentioned that he is pretty one footed but in terms of natural ability how good a dribbler do you see him becoming? Would you say he's as gifted as Nani in terms of manipulating the ball?

Manchester United’s hopes of signing Lucas Moura have taken a hit after Sao Paulo sporting director Adalberto Baptista revealed the player is not keen on leaving Brazil.

Moura, a star of Brazil’s Olympic team which has qualified for the semi-finals of the football tournament, has become a long-term target of United after some stunning displays for club and country.

But Baptista also warned that any move for the 19-year-old midfielder would require his €70million buyout clause to be met.

"During the transfer window there is a lot of speculation,” Baptista told Band. “Unfortunately until August 31 we'll have to deal with this.

"We know many European clubs want Lucas but we work with two facts. The first is that Sao Paulo don't think this is the moment to lose Lucas. We need him to win the titles our fans want.

"Secondly, Lucas himself does not think this is the moment to leave Brazil."

"We negotiate when the player effectively asks us to do so. Then we set a value below the buyout fee.

"Whenever a club comes to us (for Lucas), we ask them to pay the buyout fee that is €70million."

Translation - still no agreement on the agent's 30%

if we get both him and rvp and keep nani, it seems like we will absolutely tear through this league but i'm not sure how that still solves the issues we face in europe.

I don't think getting both of them really means we're going to rip apart the league. We will improve in those areas yes, but neither of them are a class above our best players in their respective positions.

Obviously I don't know either player well enough. The point is, paying a few millions more for a player who is considered inferior to someone else doesn't mean it's a bad deal. Only the future will tell us and all that.

Quaresma was considered a much more secure buy than Ronaldo at the time and we all know how it turned out. There are many variables that dictate current price and future potential is one of them.

Another quote from Lucas agent
Lucas' agent Wagner Ribeiro: "Manchester United? It's all lies! He'll
return to Brazil after the Olympics"

Yep. From a post on the third: https://www.redcafe.net/f9/lucas-da-silva-321691/index94.html#post12036532

It is thought Sao Paulo are ready to offer Moura a new improved deal in a bid to keep him at the club and Baptista insists the youngster wants to stay.

He added to Band: "During the transfer window, there is a lot of speculation. Unfortunately until August 31, we'll have to deal with this.

"We know many European clubs want Lucas but we work with two facts. The first is that Sao Paulo don't think this is the moment to lose Lucas. We need him to win the titles our fans want.

Asked if the club have set a price for the youngster, Baptista added: "We negotiate when the player effectively asks us to do so. Then we set a value below the buyout fee.

"Whenever a club comes to us (for Lucas), we ask them to pay the buyout fee that is 70million euros."

Meanwhile, Baptista dismissed reports Roma have made a bid for centre-back Rhodolfo.

He added: "They have not made any proposal for our player. The last official offer for him from Italy came from Juventus last year. Now there is nothing."

Quotes are exactly the same.

Yeah I agree that it isn't a bad deal necessarily, but at the same time it would hardly make it a good one either. If Oscar is supposed to be a better player and went for cheaper then I'd rather take him.

Isn't twitter bollocks banned from these threads?

those from accounts with only 20 tweets and all that, I think it is! You dont mind some news reporters like bob cass (despite the Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime he is) as atleast that comes from some sort of a reporting source, and not just made up drivel (....despite the papers being mostly made up drivel....errr).

As they say in high society, feck this shit, transfer season is worse than ever with all the bullshit scammers.

Yeah I all can find is it seems to have come from a few Inter fan sites/twitter accounts posting this.

It doesn't matter who's the better player right now. A lot can change in a few years.
First Hazard, now Lucas..I guess we're looking at those who runs at people..

"@Pitacodogringo: CBF refuse to release Lucas Moura for Manchester United medical http://t.co/k8wYO7Ke"

The source is a Brazilian guy, so rock solid.

Edit - the link says "But a statement on the CBF site said they had not received a request from any English club and in any case, the player would not be released from Brazil’s training centre to attend a medical."
