Its off.

.. or they're trying to squeeze us for a few more quid, and have somehow managed to get Morrati in on their plans.

Leonardo could be their key factor obviously.

Yeah that doesnt sound too good.

Im gonna get on board the fee being far too high now boat. And pretend I was never very excited to see a young Brazilian with loads of potential strut his stuff

Im struggling to see how PSG can keep on doing this without it contravening the FFP rules. Are they a bigger club than i am giving them credit for? Otheriwse how can they possible earn enough revenue to justify their ridiculously excessive spending?

They can't but fifa and uefa are not going to want to stop the cash coming from the middle east.

I sometimes wonder if I'll ever read a post of yours that doesn't make me want to pluck out my own eyeballs and slam them in a door as punishment for reading it. One day.

Well that's easy.Don't fecking read them.

Dissapointed, but I'm more and more getting into the RvP saga anyway so there you go.
Think it will depend on the player in the end. And if he really chooses PSG over us then feck him, honestly.

Anyway we're about to sign Usain Bolt so what the hell.

If Uefa didn't want to stop the cash coming from the middle east, they wouldn't have introduced FFP in the first place. Let's wait until FFP begins before deciding that Uefa won't enforce it.

I would be more than happy if Nani signed. Yeah it would've been nice for us to land a talent in Lucas and it is obviously disappointing after hearing such positive news in recent weeks about his transfer to United, but we already have a better player in that position IMO, so lets go balls out and get that player tied down to a contract.

I reckon Sao Paulo have been stalling until one of the money clubs came in.

Have to say though as much as I wanted this to happen I did worry about us blowing 30+ million on a 19 year old unproven Brazilian.

He looks like Walcott, he is quick like Walcott, he plays more or less the same position of Walcott, let's just convince ourselves we dodged a massive bullet here :wenger:

Based on?

I'd imagine based on our negotiating tactics in the past. A few high profile incidents have stuck in peoples minds.

The thing is, we have no fecking idea what goes on, if the reasons we don't sign a player released to the press by the club are actually true or what stumbling block there might be.

The only ones that do are sitting in that room negotiating I'd expect.

Doesn't worry me at all.

What irks me is why we are not stocking up our depleted midfield.
I have no confidence in Ando . And Clev is injury prone. Expect a bleak season this time, too.

Yes we will see, but let's not forget Platini's son has a job on PSG's board iirc. I predicted long ago that Platini would go quiet on FFP once PSG and French football began to benefit from sugar daddy money. I am not suggesting i'm right yet, but you would think with the amount of money they seem to be unashamedly throwing around, somebody from UEFa would be highlighting the dangers and absurdity of it all, as they seemed to when only the English clubs appeared to be benefitting.

Based on our inability to sign top players when we're in competition with other clubs of equal or even lesser stature?

Real Madrid were supposed to be interested for bebe and shitty were interested to sign powell and berba. However we lost out on nasri, hazard, moura etc.

And Arsenal wanted Smalling, Liverpool wanted Young, Jones was pursued by a bunch of clubs, ditto Kagawa.

That's the thing about the players we sign. They tend to be quite good, hence sought after.

IMO there is another thing- i think they really want play for Manchester United, not for a big club. I much rather have fully committed personal than mercenaries. It's bloody obvious but it makes it easier to deal with bad transfer news.

Arsenal and liverpool are smaller then us

So, based on our inability to sign players that are going for stupendous amounts of money? Because the signings we have made in recent years were all wanted by other clubs, yet we managed to land them. Personally, I'd say not landing Lucas if it comes to that for X amount of more millions than we and nearly every other club can put up, doesn't really matter when you consider the business conducted over Kagawa.

I've seen little in recent years to suggest anything wrong, we are still buying excellent talents and hoping to transform them into our own stars. Yes we have missed out on some star players, tell me a time when we haven't?

What's stuck in people's minds is an increasingly long list of failures to get the player we wanted in the summer transfer window.

Our 'grow your own' policy has borne little fruit in the last 7/8 years. Nor have we been conspicuously successful in bringing in semi-developed promising young talents from outside and turning them into top players. If we can't make them, or buy them, where do we get them?

Football is unpredictable, and things change quickly, so who knows, but a degree of concern about our impotence in the transfer market is warranted.

It's not a dick measuring contest

Will absolute was arguing that united cant compete in terms of transfers against teams of our same stature. Arsenal and liverpool are smaller then us

Am i the only person who is actually proud that United refuse to pay over the odds?

I wouldnt say "proud" but yeah, i'd rather us not spend 40mil on the kid + 6mil his agent reportedly wants. Lets just hope the money goes into getting a CM though and not back to Gill's Warchest.

We have more than likely missed out on hundreds of talented footballers over the years, it's just that nowadays everything is under the spot light via the world wide web.

Still find the thought of Madrid and United battling it out for Bebe hilarious

Its not a new thing that we miss out on hot property or big name players. Plenty of times in the 90's we were beaten to signitures as well.

But the worst of the lot for me was Ronaldinho.

EDIT: That was not in the 90's, was it?
