Lucas da Silva | Signed for PSG

Reports in Globoesporte on Sunday evening claim that Lucas Moura is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain. The fee has not been disclosed but Moura’s agent, Wagner Ribeiro, declared that a five-year deal was in place and that Moura had only to pass a medical and sign the contract.
The news that the player is close to signing for PSG has come as a major surprise. This weekend it was being widely reported that Moura would soon be taking a medical for Manchester United. Now it seems the Brazil international could be on his way to Paris.
Former Brazil international and São Paulo player, Leonardo, is director of football at PSG and it is thought that his links with São Paulo president Juvenal Juvêncio and Wagner Ribeiro played a big part in luring the player to France.
Moura’s official move, however, may be delayed until January next year as the midfielder does not have a European passport and PSG already have their full quota of non-European players.

Globo are pretty reliable normally so a move to PSG looks rather probable I must say.

Be a complete balls up missing out on him if so. Ronaldinho all over again.... Literally.

kind of sick of this, good news, bad news, good news, bad news! Sign him or announce you're not interested, PSG are pulling a Barca on us, (ronaldhinio - let us negotiate terms and sum, and then come in and gazump us)

He's not going to PSG. His agent on the previous page said there is no agreement to sell him at this point.

The more time passes the bigger chance there is that a big clubs steps in and gets him. We're not big spenders. If there's an auction we're probably lose it. So lets sign him up and get on with it. If we dont want to pay the price then maybe its time to opt for other players.

His agent was in Paris yesterday so it's not a surprise these stories have come up. To be honest, I won't really be too disappointed if we lose out. 30m is a lot of money for him.

I'm really not surprised if we're not getting him. Apart from SAFs interview 'coincidentally' just before the Glazer IPO announcement there hasn't really been anything substantial to say we're interested. His agent seems like a prick so nothing he has said is reliable, and the rest has been 'sources', conveniently providing ITK info just before the weekend papers come out each week. Add that to the fact that in recent years, this transfer goes against everything we have been doing RE recruiting players - high price, high profile youngster - it's pretty unlikely tbf.

Didn't Ancelotti recently come out and say PSG were done with transfers?

So there's been nothing substantial other than Sao Paulos board, coach and the players agent saying we're the only team they've spoke to who have put in an offer. All of which they said before and after Ferguson mentioned him in the interview which had feck all to do with the ipo.

Na mate. Fergie put in a fake bid for Lucas with the IPO in mind. If SP actually accepted the bid he would have shit himself and backed out immediately.

Careful I got slaughtered for suggesting this in another thread. It was unlike SAF to publicly announce our targets especially if we're nowhere close to signing them, so one can only wonder.

Are you surprised you got slaughtered? Did Sir Alex go to the press then or did the press go to him? IF he'd have said, we're still after one or two players would it have made any difference at all? You must have a real low opinion of the guy lol.

Anyone who thinks we put in a fake bid are being stupid. I mean, come on! It was a very high bid that we supposedly put in for Lucas, so just ask yourself why so high if we didn't want it accepted? Let's put all this talk of fake bids to bed, as it is complete bollocks!

Im not delving in the argument on whether United are playing this game or not. However these things happen all the time. Offer 10m for a talent whose rated 30m and wait for the club to refuse it. Once they do it, smile and say that the team is actually competitive but the prices out there are simply over the top.

AC Milan are becoming masters in it. They did try to take Aquilani/Berba off our hands for free of course. Its important for big clubs to at least give the image that they can still compete for the best players.

Not saying it is the case but holding that opinion doesnt equate to having a low opinion of Fergie. His job is to do everything in the clubs best interest. So it's important for people to believe we can still compete for expensive players. Showing that we cant would hurt the clubs image. But I think in this case there are quotes from the other party as well.

This might be the case, but before this transfer saga started, I bet anyone on here wouldn't have put Lucas' value higher than what United came in for him for.

Why can't we compete? In terms of commercial deals we're fine. We've only had one not great season last season. Why can't we compete? How many people actually believe that?

I agree. However it was a renowned fact in Italy that Moratti wanted the player. Inter has been talking about him since January and they had stated that 1-2 big clubs are interested in him (and Im not talking about the media here but Inter's owner). Under such circumstances its natural for the price to go up.

We were never big spenders and things got worse with Chelsea, Shitty and PSG going in FM mode.

Whether we like it or not we work on a budget and there's a big debt to pay.

Every team works on a budget, and all we know about our's comes from a recent statement from a club official that, after the purchase of Kagawa and Powell, we still have £40m net available to be spent over the summer.

Our debt stands at about 20% of the value of the business. That's a small debt.

The idea that we're offering large sums for players in order to have our bids rejected is complete bollocks. Anyone who thinks that should register on My baby's daddy is an alien.net

Well at MUTV they are constantly hammering us about a new devil that is set to arrive. According to Rooney he's a legend and by the looks of it, he's so good that Giggs, Rooney and Evra are shitting in their pants at the prospect of competing with him.

He's also the type of signing the franchise love.

Casillero del diablo

Who does he play for?

Daily Mail are going with the PSG story.
