You'd imagine sooner rather than later someone would have to make way. You don't spend that amount of money not to give them games not to mention it's the only way they'll improve. If he comes and steps up relatively soon, then you'd expect him to be a regular so 2 out of nani, valencia and Young would get marginalised and the first 2, particularly Nani, are too good to be squad players.

tbh i wouldn't be surprised if either Val was moved to RB slot permanently or Nani acting as a striker. he has a crisp shot on him, good dribbling and terrifying pace. The only thing is...if RVP joins will have an abundance of strikers as well. Then maybe Rooney will be moved to CM role.

lol well then clev/ando/rafael/jones/welbeck/hernandez are missing out depending on where he plays and if rvp comes. Either way, if you have 3 quality wingers, 2 of whom are amongst the best in their position and just entering their peaks and then bring in someone for 30ish million who you expect to be a star then some players are gonna miss out and in our case as I said Nani and Valencia are too good to be squad players. Not to mention you'd expect those 3 will be on big salaries.

dont get me wrong- it's a fecking selection mind feck, i don't know what will Fergie do. If we were to accommodate all off our best players (current and dead certs to join) i would honestly consider some strange options.

Although the easiest way is just bench Moura ;)

Oh yh from one perspective it would be great, almost a real life fm situation where you can have like 3 quality teams and keep everyone happy. Practically though I can't see how it's feasible. If we had an older team then it could work but our attacking players aren't really in their peaks yet.

Rumours that Manchester United are edging closer to completing a deal for Brazilian midfielder Lucas Moura are gaining momentum, with the latest being a report by ESPN that quotes sources as saying Sir Alex Ferguson was keen to sign the player and was close to realising the deal.

"Sir Alex is keen to push through the signing of the young winger and United will have to pay £30 million to get him," the unidentified source is quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, adding further weight to news the transfer has been completed is a report by Daily Mail which suggests Moura is, in fact, set for physical check-up at Old Trafford, ahead of the move. The report states Moura travelled to Manchester from Newcastle, after Brazil beat Honduras 3-2 in the quarter final of the men's football event at the London 2012 Olympics.

I think this tells us the validity of the rumour, its Mr Unidentified again...

Young is the weakest winger.

It's a bit baffling. We spent £16m on Young and since then we've tried to sign three different wingers, all for £25m+, probably because we still think our options are not good enough. Why spend a little fortune to bring Young here if he doesn't solve anything?

Would like it if he comes here but I really think we need a Fletcher/Tiote/Fellaini type player.

So we have a thread over 100 pages for someone we haven't even signed?

:wenger:

Yep. Happens a few times in the transfer forum.

Sneijder - 342 pages
Hazard - 222 pages
Modric - 159 pages
Nasri - 137 pages
Benzema - 123 pages
Sanchez - 123 pages

All in the last 3 years.

Players we have signed:

Berbatov - 485 pages

Also...

Charlie Adam - 4000 pages of people posting 'Who the f*ck bumped this?!? Gave me a bloody heart attack...'

Leighton Baines - 3 replies consisting of 'Noooooooo'.

So true. The Kagawa thread would probably have been in with a shot of getting 100 pages as well if the original one wasn't deleted.

He solved not having a 2nd option on the left, meaning Nani was forced to play there. He solved that in losing experienced players like O'Shea, Brown and Scholes, we had some premier league and international experience added to the squad as well as young players. He solved us having better set piece delivery and more goals from the wing. And an extra homegrown English player.

It was still a lot of money but Sir Alex must have felt these sort of things made it worth it, no?

The interest we obviously have in Lucas and RVP on top of the signing of Kagawa and the interest in Hazard has made me think, if anything, someone big name(other than Berba) might be on the way out in the coming 12 months. I would not want to lose any of our first team attacking players but it does make you think if there is anything in the rumours concerning Nani and his contract, or if Fergie is not to keen on Young or perhaps maybe Rooney is on the way out. I'd hope not but if did pull of the unlikely and signed both of our intended targets then the forward slots are ridiciliously packed with top class attacking players.

I bet if you trawl through any of those threads there will be a fair few times where stories such as the one in the Mail today surface and everyone believes we have signed the player because 'a source' has said something about it, only for reality to set in hours later when someone real says nothing is happening. Won't stop a significant proportion of people thinking 'it's on' though

The Sneijder and Hazard were deals that really did look like they would happen.

TBF, about 200 of those pages were people commentating on that one match where everyone thought he was going to announce the transfer.

And the Sneijder thread consisted of about 300 pages of wr8 posting obscure Italian Sources to convince everyone it's on.

The amount of effort that went into that summer and thread! Watching all those Inter games in pre season seems so pointless now.

So much bullshit talked about that deal last season.

I remember hearing 3 separate pundits swearing blind it was a done deal on the radio. Idiots.

I think we were closer to signing Nasri than Sneijder, only shitty scuppered it.

That interview he gave to the Dutch channel (Nos?) seemed such a clear sign. He even winked. If only that England Netherlands match had not gotten postponed...

Anyway back to Lucas, when is the final? This saga really needs to end, one way or the other.

The Brazilian Football Federation says no English club has been in contact about trying to sort out a medical for Lucas Moura during the Olympics, while Sao Paulo say they will fight hard to keep him.

The highly-rated 19-year-old has attracted the attention of several clubs in Europe this summer and it is understood that Manchester United are in pole position to secure his signature.

However, Brazil's FA (CBF) has dismissed reports of Moura being given permission to undergo a medical with United.

"We haven't received any request from an English club regarding that," the CBF told Globo Esporte.

"In case we do receive such a request, we won't allow the player to leave Brazil's training to undergo the medical."

Moura's agent, Wagner Ribeiro, has also insisted it is too early to talk about the player completing a transfer anywhere.

He said: "I don't talk about factoids. This news about the selling of Lucas is not true."

Sao Paulo maintain that no talks are currently taking place over a proposed move as they look to hold on to the winger, although they admit it would be wrong to rule out a departure.

Vice-president Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes told Lancenet: "He will certainly return to Sao Paulo.

"There is no negotiation going on. As we have already said it's very hard for him to leave during the current transfer window.

"We have no interest in selling him but Sao Paulo are not stupid. We know that in certain situations you can't say no.

"But such kind of offer hasn't come yet."

Hmmmm so we've had some quotes from actual people who exist that say we are not buying him. And in another article some quotes from 'a source' which say we're pushing the deal through.

I've always assumed all this 'Man Utd bid £30M' was utter crotchless-knickers bollox.

He's off to PSG, I asked Marvin Gaye and he said he "heard it through the grapevine"
