Television Lost: The Final Season

All done. The final episode was a lot more emotional than I remember it being :(

When I rewatched it I preferred the ending (and most the show) the second time round, I think it was because I knew what was coming so didn't get as frustrated about it, also helps not having to wait a week for an episode I thought.

I started watching this again, will be about my 5th run through from start to finish

Mate you have issues! This has to be the most depressing post I have read here in a while.. That final season was the biggest let down in human history period..

Just re-appreciating these two magical scenes of TV:

I wish I could find another show that comes close. :(

Edit: Ha, just noticed someone has even posted one of these before on this page, enjoy @BigDunc9 ;)

That Desmond video just really reminded me of some volunteering I did as a warden in New Zealand at a backcountry hut in the middle of nowhere. Zero connectivity with the outside world except a radio for emergencies. If the weather was crap (it generally was) no one would turn up for a couple of days and I would just fill time listening to music, exercising, and then freaking out when anyone did turn up. I didn't have a gun though.

It was an experience I would never recommend to anyone.

surprised so many of you like Lost, although a decent show it was totally ruined by the last 4 seasons. I mean it could have been so much better.

Same here. I can't get into any shows since Lost finished. :(

The closest thing to it I've watched since (though it was made prior) is The Sopranos, which is as good quality wise, but Lost has that extra magic that makes you addicted.

This show felt like it was amazing for a while. The characters and the whole mysterious island thing made it a great show.. as long as you believed in it.
Until it turned out to be empty and hollow and it dawned on people that there was no masterplan at all. They were actually making things up as they went along. I remember reading internet communities dedicated to figuring out the reason behind all the weird things that were happening, but in the end I ended up resenting the show. Everyone I know watched it during what was a bit of a golden era of TV shows with things like Rome, The Wire and The Sopranos on and everyone still seemed to be caught up in Lost. Until it proved to be shite. I must have watched those other shows at least 2 times each after they ended, but just can't go back to Lost. There's nothing there. It's empty and hollow and I'm still not over it apparently.

Feck off polar bears.

That's not an unusual opinion either, I was hooked on it right until the last episode, which was admittedly a huge disappointment. After a couple of months of resentment though I started to appreciate the whole journey leading up to it, and you just can't ignore the extraordinary mystery, tension and excitement along with a great cast, a seemingly great plot, great music and I could go on and on. John Locke will forever be one of my favourite ever TV characters.

Just watched the first two episodes. Looks interesting!

Did I made the best or worst decision ever to start watching this?

Neither best nor worst. But a good one.

I might start rewatching again now that a suitable amount of time has passed. Havent watched it again since the first time around.

there were so many cliff hangers, it really was brilliant TV.

The best. Just let yourself go.. float into the world of LOST..

I have looked into the eye of the island, and what I saw was... beautiful.

Was watching this a few years ago and ended up getting bored about halfway through season 4 after finding the first 3 amazing. I think I am going to have another crack.

Just finished the first season.

Nice but not amazing like I was expecting it to be. It also looks that the story has been written without having an endgoal at mind.

I'm surprised you say that shot the first season. The black smoke thing (not giving spoilers) is in the first episode (hidden), although you may be right

First season was amazing but it was season 2 when I thought they had no idea where they were going. I really liked season 1 and the ending of it was fantastic. Season 2 just seemed to drag and was too focused on Sawyer, Jack and Kate.

So Jack and Claire are siblings. Fantastic! With time travel and Latin American tellenovella events, this TV show seems to be the grandfather of cliches.

Season 1 was indeed a masterpiece. Quite realistic at times and extremely immersing.

Just survivors on the beach talking and interacting with each other. Great dialogues, good chemistry, lots of character exploration that didn't need all the dumbfeckery pseudo sci-fi mumbo jumbo which at times was okayish but the real strength of the show was correctly placed in those people and their problems from the past. Season 1 was like a miniseries that stands on it's own. It had literally everything.

About to start this again. Can't wait

I've been re-watching it recently and I'm surprised at how much I've been enjoying it. I thought a lot of the suspense that was present during my first watch would be missing on second viewing given that I knew what would happen re the major plot twists etc. I'm just about to watch Through the Looking Glass now and so far that hasn't been the case as there is still plenty of other stuff to enjoy.

It's not really the main story arcs that gripped me to the show, it's the characters and the special moments it has, and the journey as I've probably said plenty of times.

Aye, it's the same for me.

The season one finale embodies that for me. Whilst most people probably remember it for the final scene in which Jack and Locke open the hatch, I'll always remember it for moments like Jack and Sawyer's conversation re Jack's dad, the montage of everyone boarding the plane (I'm a sucker for montages and Lost had tons of them!) and, most of all, the raft setting sail.

You appreciate the finale more when you remember the main strengths of the show were always the relationships the characters had with each other.

Regarding 'the conversation', yes! One of my favourite scenes by far. Along with the obvious phone call scene.
