Television Lost: The Final Season

Because you were moaning....for the 6 millionth time in this thread. And we werent even talking about the finale, you were on about season 5 being a waste of time aswell as the Desmond future seeing which was simply not the case.

 when the feck have I said any of those things Mockney. No need to make stuff up now is there.

Insulting people does not have an age limit but surely someone in their mid 20's can see I was reffering to how childish your insult was.

And now its time for bed.

You called him a pedophile :wenger:

It was a childish insult...but born of being called a nonce completely out of the blue. I was going to edit in "bit harsh, but you did call me a nonce" at the bottom but couldn't be arsed and had some fish cooking...

You are going around patronising people who weren't happy with rolleyes and waaas and stuff, that post is an example of it..and there have been a few like it... S5 (as all the other seasons) have relevance in the finale discussion because now it's ended we can see what their end game/plan/story was all about and how it fitted in to the novella....for me, hardly any of it did, or mattered, hence why it's important...

I can see how annoying it must be to those who loved it to hear it being picked apart, but for those of us who watched it from its inception - almost, dare I say, religiously - and feel let down by it, it's frustrating, and we'll whine about it.

I can whine all I want, and will, since this is a Lost discussion thread for people who watch Lost, not just people who loved how it all panned out. Start a "I really love how Lost ended and how that affected the over all story" thread if you like...I'll stick in this Lost discussion one.

But I'm happy to end the name calling....for now, you slag

Aaannnyway...

You can't say anything negative in this thread. . .the kids start crying.

I think it's when it's all negative that it grates on people Spoons. You can't deny you did come in here a few times purely to wind people up, at least after the finale you spoke properly about it even if it was expressing your dislike for it. I'm fine with people hating the show, I do defend it where I see fit because I like it but yes there are errors in it. The people posting negative stuff are just kinda repeating themselves now though.

Not really, since this whole ordeal came about when we were talking about season 5.

To be honest, I watched the Pilot again the other night and it didn't detract from it knowing how it ended....something like Man behind the Curtain or something probably would though, and even Flashes/The Constant lose their impact when you know it was purely Deus Ex Machina, but there are plenty of episodes that still stand alone as brilliant with hindsight.

I do still love the show, just much less now I know how much they made up for the sake of it.

It took you 'til the final episode to work out the writers were cobbling together a semblence of a plot as they went along?

Those clips that were posted on the last page were brilliant. Some fantastic moments throughout the series. The button pushing concept was great.

I really enjoyed this show because of the theme, characters, acting, photography etc... but I feel cheated right now. I kind of knew they were making it up as they went along but they really painted themselves into a corner and decided to jump out of the window.. err, if that makes any sense.

all those plot holes.. They could at least have tried to answer some questions in the final season instead of treating it as if the last season was a standalone series. I agree with Mockney, it was a huge cop out.

To a degree yes. I knew facets of it were made up constantly, but I assumed minor details or little contained story archs each season.. I always got the feeling they knew what the bigger picture was .... They'd had 5 years since they realised it was a smash hit to work out how to make it all tie together..in the end they chose not to and went for the very easy route; They all live happily ever after, when they die.

Shame

I've been told not to post in this thread after my initial comments because I dared to say negative things about the show - which to be fair, were right(my comments). The likes of yourself and Spud come across as teenage girls though, I mean 'Waaaa' - what the hell's that? and 'what death affected you the most' - if that isn't teenie girly stuff I don't know what is. Just let people have their opinions. If you don't like them, ignore them. . .or better still join a Lost fanboy forum. Because this isn't one.

Thankfully the saner people have seen sense.

You came in purely to wind people up though, that's teenage stuff if I've ever seen it. People were talking about deaths that shocked them in the 24 thread, I don't see you moaning about that. You can have your opinions, I said that, just the whole doing it to wind people up was pretty childish.

That's bollocks. Basically any negative opinion is seen as a wind up.

Which death affected you most indeed. . .

Christ.

Are deaths on TV shows not meant to shock the audience? Look at everyone's reaction to the Season 4 finale of Dexter.

If Mockney says Deus Ex Machina one more time...

... it'll be yet another example of him overusing the phrase Deus Ex Machina, probably because someone just told him what it meant, and he's like an over excitable puppy with it now

I've known what the phrase Deus Ex Machina means for a long time, but the term Deus Ex Machina is appropriate for Lost more than it is for any other show what with the abundance of Deus Ex Machinas they used whilst pretending (or giving the implication) they weren't Deus Ex Machinas but part of a grander plan....despite actually having an episode called Deus Ex Machina

Deus Ex Machina

To be fair, I used it first.

Thought I'd share that.

I was wondering if I should spoiler that but thought it was a bit too vague to spoil anything especially in a show like Dexter where people die constantly. Sorry CD.

Just watched the final episode(s) again after doing a bit of reading on Lostpedia and facebook Lost pages. Have to admit I'm coming round now, and find more meaning in a lot of things that happened on the island. So 6 years weren't wasted as I asserted earlier. Still upset with the lack of answers, but more things make sense now (like why Dharma were there, the cork in the ground, etc).

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like Michael Jackson just died again? I've had this minute hole in my soul since Jack closed his eyes for the last time.

Yeah I'm gonna be watching back through the show again at some point, the only way to fill the void

Ah, well there's always the chance you're thinking of the wrong person. Sorry about that though.

I understand Jacob assembled a list of candidates in order to kill his no-named brother, and this spanned generations and generations. But before Jacob turned his brother into a unnamed devil man, what was the actual purpose of either of the boys protecting that glowing cave when she took them there as cubs? I think I remember the mother-killer saying something about lights going out everywhere, but it didn't make much sense.

Probably was explained in the episode of somewhere on here, but I've forgotten.

Did they ever explain why Jack's neck was bleeding throughout FS? By that logic Kate got shot and should have been bleeding as well.

I'll have you know I used it extensively at the time of the Battlestar Galactica finale.

Ive seen you rant about battlestar galacticas finale but it was nothing compared to enterprise's ending which was basically a kick in the teeth .
