Television Lost: The Final Season

I think Eko was a casualty of a large cast...he didn't want to do it anymore, they had to write him out unfortunately.

In the end he managed to provide one of the first big answers...(sort of - a part of it at least) ..that the smoke monster could take other forms and was appearing as some of the dead people on the Island...so he wasn't wasted

I think it's more likely he discovered that the writers didn't have a clue what they were doing with his character, so he decided to leave.

Or something. Just think about how big a character Ben is, and he was never even supposed to be a regular. And now he's integral to the plot.

I don't really mind them not having answers from the beginning as long as it ends up working...it's only when there's no resolution that it's annoying. Widmore is a far more problematic character than Ben for me.

Yes, I completely agree with that. I was never in the camp that demanded that they had absolutely everything worked out before they even started shooting.

They've had so many problematic characters, though. Where they do stuff that doesn't make any sense, or that they shouldn't even be able to do on past experience. A little consistency would be nice.

I think Ben never knowing Jacob was a bad move. It made for a good scene where he stabs him....but it just started that whole "no one really knows anything" slide which is one of the main problems I'm having with season 6

That is not true actually.

Actor who played Eko was a problem on the sets supposedly. Other cast members did not like working with him. Still writers wanted to keep him on because his character was suppoed to stay till the end. But the actor asked to be written out.

Really? Okay, that's not something they can control then (except by choosing actors who aren't unlikable). But there's been so many of the inconsistencies in how people act, what they know and what they can do. I like mysteries as much as the next guy, but there's a point where it just starts to insult my intelligence.

Did the thought ever occur to you that maybe they know what death is but they either call it something else or never really thought about what happens to the boars as they see them as just food ?

No that thought didn't occur to me cause that's just making excuses for shit writing. That episode could of passed as poor fan-fiction... which is a pity since they've had such good writing for most the show.

You seem incapable of accepting any criticism of the quality of writing in the last few episodes of Lost.
Hardly, I said I thought it was a poor episode compared to what it could have been when it aired a few pages back, it just annoys me when people are so quick to be all "well that was shit" and not accept ANY possible answers to some of the things that confused them
That would be a good guess but...

Wildmore says in S6 that it was just an experiment by Dharma

Ben puts Karl there as a punishment

Walt was kept there and he did not seem brainwashed much
Oh jesus christ, dont complain about lack of answers when you refuse to accept the most likely one given to you.
What ever happened to Walt? I thought he was to be a major part of the storyline but he has been completely written out of the story
He grew up too quick in real life

Ok you just be ignorant then and dont accept ANY possible answers that may pop up.

Jeese, the writers have a much harder job at pleasing people than I thought.

You're not a writer though...you've just imagined a reason that doesn't work (and which clearly wasn't the intention) and then blamed the person you told it to for not liking it..

Come to think of it...you could be a lost writer after all

You are just clutching at straws to try to rationalise poor writing.

MiB says 'What's death?' in a dramatic tone... ooooo.... next scene he is about to kill a pig. Hmmm...

Ben says 'You know I can't kill you Charles, so I'll kill you daughter instead'... big dramatic effect right? Couple of seasons later he shoots Charles dead.

The Mother says the kids can't hurt eachother... once again it provides mystery and drama... but not 10 minutes later they are pummeling the crap out of eachother.

Now seriously... how the feck is it ignorant to question writing of this standard?! I bet if someone wrote this episode and posted it on the net you would question to inconsistencies and continuity issues... the writers aren't infallible!

.

That was not given as an answer at all.

Take a look at the lostpedia link you posted, no where it is mentioned that even inferred that is used to convert people to others.

Spot on. A fair few people on here are massively in denial.

I and all my Lostie friends have accepted that the show's descended into farce and has been a huge disappointment.

To think back to the days of the discovery of the hatch, the first darma videos, the first time we saw Jacob and MIB etc and look at how these parts of the story have developed i fail to see how anyone can think that Lost has done itself justice..

I actualy said Across the Sea was a poor episode. In denial I am not.

It's nowhere near a farce.

I think disappointment was inevitable really, some people seem to be picking holes for the sake of it, I'm reserving judgement until after the finale.

Although part of me wants it to end with it being vincent's dream, just to see TFP implode trying to convince us it was the bestest ending ever.

:lol::wenger::rolleyes:

I've just been giving potential answers to some things that people have been moaning about ...yet somehow that means I think anything that happens in the finale is going to be amazing?

Jesus fecking christ.

You've been reaching, and then when someone has dared question the quality of the writing, you've pretty much put it on them, saying it's their fault for not accepting the lame explanations.

Oh feck off have I, A question was asked about how the Others brainwashed Cindy etc and it was pretty much accepted a long time ago that it was the facillities at the Hydra which had rooms like Room 23 only for that to be immediately dismissed by the asker.

It is the closest thing we have to an answer on that yet its being dismissed straight away..thats why I "put it on him"

Oh and how is it a "lame" explanation  There would be no other need for them to show us a quite clear brainwashing video now would there.

I'm only playing with you fella. It's the old battle of faith and questioning again, you're John Locke to their Jack Shepherd.

Me I'm Lapidus, go with the flow and cool as feck.

You've seen the light, brother. They've been taking the piss out of the viewers for years. feck'em, I say.

Apparently Sky1 are now screening it live in simulcast with the American broadcast....(and then again at 9pm the next day btw)...but oddly it says this starts at 5am...which isn't at all when the American broadcast begins...it's when it ends...But still, fairly nice little oppo for those who can be bothered to stay up/get up that late/early

Thats great news if true, ive been dreading what Monday morning will be like, the torrents will take a decade to download

Aren't they showing something special before the finale, like a look back? Plus I heard something about the pilot being re-aired with trivia.
