Television Lost: The Final Season

I've only just realised the Finale is this Sunday. This time next week it'll all be over, done, dusted and deconstructed. Weird.

If they answer everything in the Finale which I doubt will happen. It will be left to the viewers interpretations, and then you will get even more outlandish theories. Love it though.

One thing i'm confused about from the previous episode

So do we all think that the mother was the smoke monster? Because surely that's the only way she could have destroyed the village? So that means she was the smoke monster and the protector of the island then?

I've just seen season one and half of season two when I thought it nosedived quite heavily. Can anybody do a quick summary of the events after that?

Not really, way too hard to do a quick summary. Check Lostpedia.

Yeah maybe she used the twins to kind of 'share' the responsibilities.

Definately, how else would she know that going into the cave of light is worse than death...and also the fact that there have been numerous references to Smokie existing in egyptian times.

Where Charlie shoots Ethan? Randomly specific, and why?

yep, tbh it is bit random but it was around that time I began to detest the flashbacks and the general direction of the series - making as many seasons as possible, stretching the story as ridiculously as possible

Still watching it mind, so it has its appeal in a silly kind of way. But I am glad it's coming to an end.

The only thing I'm really looking forward to now is the final 5 minutes, as it's always interesting to see how exactly a big show goes out.

Another thing I'm looking forward to is finding out who Jack's son's mother is - that's the only 'mystery' left really...

Am I the only one on here not disappointed with the way LOST has turned out, despite lack of answers? I think it's awesome! :D

Nope, I can safely say I've been gripped with nearly all of S6. It's still got that Lost-ness about it where you don't know what is going to happen from one moment to the next.

This season has been decent, but not as good as the few preceding that. Everything could change with the finale, though. They could end it brilliantly, tying up a lot of plots and explaining some of the more prominent mysteries. Or they could end it BSG-ish, tying up few loose ends, tying up a few with ridiculous and unbelievable explainations, and generally overall using an unhealthy dose of deus ex machina.

I'm hoping for the former, but fearing the latter.

If that is the end of Richard I will be extremely pissed off. Not the way to kill off one of the long-standing characters of the show. I thought Ilana's death was pretty piss poor but this would top it were it the case. They didn't show him dead however, so I think it's pretty obvious he'll be back with something important to do.

All clues led to Jack becoming the new protector. Sayid's 'It has to be you' and Jack's whole 'this is what I'm supposed to be doing' throughout the season, so this really just cemented.

Someone theorised a few pages back that Desmond would have to venture into the light. I think that's pretty well going to happen too. Widmore's already told Flocke what Des was there for, and Desmond will have to 'make a sacrifice.'

I hope not all of the end will run along with this predictability. Widmore was killed too quickly to be much of a shock, it seemed a bit pointless to me. Oh well, bring on the finale!

Regarding Ben (more of a theory than an actual future spoiler but it does spoil the most recent episode.)

Almost definitely playing Locke in my opinion.

The three things we know with Ben are that he makes sure he gets what he wants, he can easily manipulate people and that he holds a grudge.

Ben will believe that if he gets rid of Locke, then the island will be his i think. And he also wants payback for MiB manipulating Ben and the rest of the others pretty much his entire life, and he's doing so by manipulating Locke.

Just a theory though. One of the amazing things about Lost is that you can come with an entirely plausible theory and it will be completely wrong.

I was almost certain that the monster existed before MiB was thrown into that cave would be correct, but seemingly not. On the other hand, who knows, perhaps we'll find out that Jacob didn't even know that the monster existed before that incident.

In truth, we don't really know how much Jacob actually does know. Maybe he actually knows feck all about the origins of the monster etc?

I'm so fecking happy Ben has an important role to play in the finale. Great to see him back to his deceiving ways. I'd love it if they ended his character the way he began, evil and manipulative. Sadly I feel ever since Dr. Ben Linus their going to go down the redemption route.

meh, not a great episode at all really. Like someone earlier said, the flash sideways have become far more interesting than what’s happening on the island. (I very much doubt that is the end of Richard incidentally).

Widmores death seemed rushed, when he had been geared up as a major player for the last few seasons his death was a major anti climax. And the chosen one to replace Jacob is the one who could be arsed doing it?

This season started so well but really in the last few episodes it has taken a turn for the worse. It has done the exact opposite to the final 24 season which is ending so spectacularly but started poorly

2 hours left to turn it all around, but I think it is highly unlikely.
