Television Lost: The Final Season

Does anybody else think Desmond might have to go inside that cave of light? Or whatever is in there now

I think he is definitely going down that cave of light, maybe either via the cave or from the wheel. Only Jacob and his mother know where that cave is and I think only certain people can find it, possibly one of the candidates as they found that lighthouse as well whereas others who have spent their whole life on the island have no idea about it. So you need to know where you are going to find it and maybe at that cave is where you accept responsibility of the island? IF someone like Jack is going to be the new guardian I can imagine him finding that cave and finding that bottle of wine and a glass. Jacob said it himself, Jack is here for a reason and he has to find it himself, maybe that is what Jack has to do, find that cave and become the new leader

Actually that does not work.

Jacob was the one who listened to his mother and never interacted with other people. She was of the opinion that they are not be trusted and are destructive, the same one as MIB. So they did not show the transition of Jacob to someone who wanted to bring people to the island and believed in them.

And same with MIB. He actually needed people to come to island who could help him get off like before. So he should have been the one bringing them, not Jacob.

True but he was also quite curious about them and used to always come over and watch them as well. His mother and the MIB said they were bad but did Jacob ever truly believe that?

Somewhere along the line I'm sure the MIB and Jacob talked about this and Jacob thus brings certain people to the island to prove him wrong. It would kind of be ironic that maybe when the MIB stops trying to corrupt and believe he will find his path of the island

As for the MIB well by the time he has become smoke he isn't too interested in people on the island but like you say more interested in somehow using them to get him off the island. Eventually he realises the only way to get him off is to kill Jacob so sets that plan in motion.

Sorry to be a pain but thats two times people have said "whitmore" now, its widmore.

:)

Yes, that is annoying. Clearly these are the same people that say 'would of'. They require a programme of Electrical Shock Therapy to rid them of their affliction

maybe smokey just wants to die. His ma said 'thank you' when she died and going down the cave and becoming smokey is supposedly worse than death.

Think I'm going to have to watch the episode again but I agree with people who've said it felt like a two parter, I'm guessing we will get some answers in the next few episodes.

Smokey and MIB are the same, it makes no sense if they aren't. The line about making up rules and a game, the setting up of their differences, their seperation, it would all be pointless. Not to mention the fact that MIB and Smokey have exactly the same motive, to get off the island, it would be lazy and ridiculous writing if they're not the same thing.

The light...meh, I'm just hoping that it doesn't turn out that Des is the light.

If the mother was so worried about the people and capable of killing them, why didn't she?

Oh and another thing.

If the fake mother was the smoke monster then was the apparition of the real mother bib(boy in black) saw actually her, did she have the whole thing planned...

Apparently there was a screening of the episode by ABC and the complete details of episode are now out.

I have resisted this time. Will stay unspoiled till the finale.

That is in line with how Locke, Ben etc were manipulated

How will Lost season 6 end? Matthew Fox talks about what he knows. - Lost Review

Matthew Fox talking about season 6 - some interseting snippets in there.

Him saying an 'image' makes me think the final scene will be

Jack's eye opening

Also, Daniel Dae Kim & Michael Emerson's views on the finale, no actual spoilers of what happens in the episode, just what they think of it

Daniel Dae Kim has expressed satisfaction regarding the finale, stating "If you think about how many pieces the writers had to put together in order to make it fall into place, it’s mind-boggling, and they did such a great job. Some of the twists and turns are just so clever ... For me it was very satisfying. After I read it, I had to sit for five or 10 minutes, just reflecting and digesting, because it definitely makes an impact."

Michael Emerson also commented on the ending, "I have received the finale by degrees. I read the script without the secret scenes, then I read the secret scenes, then I shot the script and each time I’m thinking about 'what does this mean?' When I first read it, the ending wasn’t clear to me – but since then it’s grown more clear and I have to say, grown more satisfying the more I think about it. I expect a mixture of satisfaction and consternation amongst the viewers when it airs. But once they rewatch it, rethink about it and possibly look at the saga again, gradually they will feel like they have just read a good novel -- but you have to chew on it for a while."

If someone posts any of them here, I just might hunt them down and kill them.

You won't be able to notice them. This thread is full of spoiler tags for episodes that have already gone for some bizarre reason.

And all theories are in spoiler tags as well...

So every spoiler you open could actually BE a potential spoiler.

I won't get my hopes up too much. LOST producers said they had no problems with BSG ending. LOST is in the same boat I am afraid, if they do not end it properly, previous seasons will be ruined as well.

Yeah, I've had a few things to say about the spoiler usage in this thread myself. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

Did they really say that? feck me.. maybe I should just stop watching it now, instead of ruining another entire series.

People posting theories in spoilers is silly I agree but we wait untill the episode has aired in the UK before we talk about it openly as this is a UK forum.

MIB looks years older than Jacob.

Who among the regulars in this thread actually waits until it's aired in the UK before watching it?

Me. I can't get the live stream to work.

Couple of points...

In the Adam and Eve clip on YT, are the skeletons lying some way from each other? Because they should be together.

The lack of a name for MIB has to be significant.

And the theory about MIB not being Smokey because he's dead (MIB) and stays dead is a good one - except for the fact that we have seen Jacob and MIB on the beach - at the time Richard came to the island - and we see them talking about the rules.

If Smokey wasn't MIB, why would he talk about the rules?

That's why there's a brief description of the spoiler before the actual spoiler e.g.

This is my theory:
Buhhh

or Casting spoiler
bubble bluhhh

It gives people a choice of what they want to read.

 no there is fecking not !

I can guarantee that theres been a shit load of spoilers that have been riddled in peoples theories in which they haven't given a brief description beforehand before posting.

I'm out of this thread (and any internet Lost discussion) now, until the finale. Too much at stake, if someone lets something slip.

The only people you have to worry about spoiler wise are VidaRed and CrappyCarperson, Vida is banned from the EF and Crappy isnt the sort of lad to go out of his way to spoil things so were all safe.

Just watched it, and read through this thread and a lot of people feeling the same as me. Meh.

Very little explained, more questions, a thrown together way of solving the adam and eve thing and Jacob acting like a kid even when his in his thirties.

Oh and i always wait to watch it on Sky, i've paid for a HD subscription and i'll be damned if i'm not going to use it. Although it means i have to avoid this thread from tuesday night onwards.

By the way. Am I the only one who has noticed that Jacob is Lucifer/The Devil in Supernatural?

That's where I've f*cking seen him!!!! It was doing my nut in even though I'm up to date with all the Supernatural episodes. That's about to end as well sadly. :(

I don't know. I loved Supernatural, and I do still watch it, but this whole epic saga of the struggle between heaven and hell, as opposed to the previous episodic and entertaining killing of demons and stuff, hasn't really been my thing. Luckily the next season, which might be the last, is going back to the old formula of "stand-alone" episodes with just a hint of an overarching theme (like the finding the dad of the earlier seasons, I suppose).

As for Lost... I'm actually not sure if I'll miss it or not. If it ends well or even just okay-ish, I will miss it. If it ends in a Battlestar Galactica-type way, I'll be disgusted. I just hope the ending won't make it impossible for me to enjoy some of the frankly excellent seasons we've had. At the moment I can't really watch BSG without focusing on that horrible ending, and I hope that won't happen to Lost. Because it really has been a great show.

So far.

Interestingly, Titus Welliver (MIB/Smokey) also featured in an episode of Supernatural, as War, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

Im just watching the pilot of LOST and when they hear the smokemonster for the first time Rose (?) says "It sounds like something really familiar" ,in the background..... Hmmm

Kate also asks Charlie if they've met before!

Looking into it too deeply...There was no plan when making the pilot...they've admitted that many times. The only ambition was to get a full series out of it.

I'd be surprised if the Kate and Charlie thing is anything other than the lead in to the talking about Drive Shaft that it was in that episode.

As for Rose, most people seem to assume it's an in-joke of sorts what with one of the sounds made by the monster coming from a New York taxi, and Rose being from New York. Don't know if this was ever confirmed though?
