Does anybody else think Desmond might have to go inside that cave of light? Or whatever is in there now
I think he is definitely going down that cave of light, maybe either via the cave or from the wheel. Only Jacob and his mother know where that cave is and I think only certain people can find it, possibly one of the candidates as they found that lighthouse as well whereas others who have spent their whole life on the island have no idea about it. So you need to know where you are going to find it and maybe at that cave is where you accept responsibility of the island? IF someone like Jack is going to be the new guardian I can imagine him finding that cave and finding that bottle of wine and a glass. Jacob said it himself, Jack is here for a reason and he has to find it himself, maybe that is what Jack has to do, find that cave and become the new leader
Actually that does not work.
Jacob was the one who listened to his mother and never interacted with other people. She was of the opinion that they are not be trusted and are destructive, the same one as MIB. So they did not show the transition of Jacob to someone who wanted to bring people to the island and believed in them.
And same with MIB. He actually needed people to come to island who could help him get off like before. So he should have been the one bringing them, not Jacob.
True but he was also quite curious about them and used to always come over and watch them as well. His mother and the MIB said they were bad but did Jacob ever truly believe that?
Somewhere along the line I'm sure the MIB and Jacob talked about this and Jacob thus brings certain people to the island to prove him wrong. It would kind of be ironic that maybe when the MIB stops trying to corrupt and believe he will find his path of the island
As for the MIB well by the time he has become smoke he isn't too interested in people on the island but like you say more interested in somehow using them to get him off the island. Eventually he realises the only way to get him off is to kill Jacob so sets that plan in motion.
