Television Lost: The Final Season

I hate how a "mystery" is considered unanswered by some because a character hasn't come out and explicitly said the exact words. I can get why people would still be wondering about the numbers, but the bears, really? The DHARMA Initiative bought the bears to the island to perform tests on them. The numbers were "explained" in one of the games but are not considered important to the actual storyline of Lost, in the show they're more to do with Hurley and his paranoia that he's cursed (although I imagine had no end date been given to the show, it's something that would've been explored further. And of course, there's still time for them to be, but I doubt it). The various sightings are more there for the fans.

Anyway, brilliant episode I thought. Every element of it was good. Enjoyed the on-island stuff as well as the flashes. Plot development was very interesting and there was some great character bits too.

Was slightly annoyed with myself well I glanced Monaghan's name in the credits, but fortunately he was a big part of the episode rather than a surprise appearence like Faraday. Great to see a load of old characters really, Charlie, Daniel, Elouise, Minkowski and Penny all returning for the first time in a while and all having a reasonable part to play.

Very intrigued as to what's going on with Widmore now. What's Des got to do with things on-island? Why was he so willing to go along with Charles and then Sayid? What's his sacrifice gonna have to be? Also, will Jin EVER get something worthwhile to do apart from nearly die?

And flashes are looking interesting from a storyline perspective too, which is great. Aside from little moments, it's obviously been lacking that, and it's great to see things are moving forward. Genuinely interested to see the next ones now and how they'll progress.

Awesome episode
Desmond is by far my favourite character

i hope they release a book afterwards detailing any unanswered questions, only 6 episodes left i think
An official wiki book is to be released later this year
Have they explained the polar bear yet or the numbers?

Polar Bears were explained in S3 Spoons, Dharma tested on various animals and the numbers are part of the valenzetti equation which was revealed in the ARG post S2.

Well, hmm...According to these, it looks sketchy. In the other tag at the bottom are the scores of the episodes left (apart from the Finale) as rated by the inside sources that have seen or read them already.

This is what the same sources scored the episodes already aired before they were earlier in the year. Along side them are the average scores of votes from the fans after they aired. They're eerily accurate so far.

Don't click this if you don't want to know the future episode titles from 11-15 and how good they're likely to be.

Obviously doesn't really mean shit, but interesting.

If those scores are accurate then the next episode should blow our little minds.

Desmond wandering off with Sayid was definitely intriguing, I'd say he's got some kind of plan going on in both dimensions. Which is

Here's my theory/idea (that will probably be debunked in the next episode)

Spoiler contains my ideas of what the flashsideways are about, how they link to the island timeline and also contains the name of the penultimate episode. You've been warned.

Charlie had a near death experience when he swallowed the heroin, which allowed him to seemingly remember and see Claire and the love he had for her in the original timeline. Then Desmond had a near death experience and saw visions of Not Pennys Boat, then he remembered more about Penny. He now has the manifest and will probably track them all down to try and show them what Charlie showed him. Now, the penultimate episode is called 'What They Died For'. What if they have to die in this reality to get back to the original timeline? That would explain why the near death experiences brought back memories. Maybe once they all remember what they left behind, some choose to die and go back to the island, and some choose to stay in this reality where things are better for them, i.e Jack.

What about Faraday? I can't remember exactly what he said, but I don't recall him saying he nearly died in regards to thinking about Charlotte?

Yeah that's the only hole really. I chose to ignore it.

My only issue with that Sol is that would still make the AR completely useless. I mean they die in the alt and head on over to the OT to do what? Will the OTers do anything different bar just know about a different reality? And what about the ones who are dead in the OT?

I'm not knocking your theory because it does seem very likely, i'm just showing my concern if it was to actualy be the case

Id rather not post my theory since most of the times its spot on.

Hopefully we'll have a bit of jacob and smokey in the next episode.

We should have used to the Ronaldo money to sign Desmond Hume...because he is awesome.

Been thinking after reading an article....
Remember when the plane first crashed on the island and the pilot got lifted out of the plane and wasted by Smokey? Well, what if Smokey thought that it was Lapidus that was the Pilot (it was supposed to be ,but he overslept,remember)...does that make Lapidus more important than we previously thought or just coincidence?

I think they had Smokey kill him for effect in that episode, to show there was a killer monster in the jungle and what it could do. The writers will either never bring it up again or use some deus ex machina.

definitely looks that way

Uhh, why would Illana and Richard be against Jack & Co.? Richard has to stop the Man In Black, if he's on that side that means he's with Claire, Sayid, etc... who are on Team Smokey.

Agreed. I'd also assume they pretty much had no idea what would be going on in season 6 when they wrote season 1. They don't really have to explain it though, we all know Smokey is a cnut (unless we get a typical lost swerve at some point.)

In regards to the poster, i think it more implies "everybody hates Locke, and there's gonna be a massive war" as opposed to showing people taking specific sides etc.

I also think we're due a death soon in the next episode or two. Jin or Sun i'd put my money on.

You'd really hope they'd not be quite as obvious as having a poster released before the series even starts with that sort of information, even if it would've been unclear at the time.

Besides, there's another very similar poster where the whole group is facing the camera rather than Locke, and both Miles and Clare have switched sides. Although I'm sure there's some symbolism in the poster, it definitely isn't that.

If its got Penny in it surely it can't be flash sideways, it has to be a FlashFoward.
