If 'Smokie' can inhabit dead people and is possibly stuck in Locke why can't Jacob try the same trick and possess Sayid? Explains his death and the failure of the unholy water and then his sudden awakening. Seems since then Sayid has been a pretty subdued figure much like Jacob. Everyone misses the original Jacob and this can set up the grand finale we are all expecting? Otherwise what is the point of Sayid now?

1. Jacob is dead
2. Sayid isn't dead now
Plus jacob and smokey have different powers.
I would point out -
1. Jacob's is clearly dead (but only in his original human form)
2. Sayid was pronounced dead by a qualified doctor. No explanation has been given yet to his return.
'Plus jacob and smokey have different powers' - but why would that stop him possessing Sayid? If Jacob is indeed no more why doesn't smokie just leave the island? I'm sure he's had long enough to plan his escape. I admit Sayid is a long shot but I'm convinced Jacob is not dead.
The idea that the island is some kind of jail for an evil entity is good. I don't buy it that Smokey is the devil though - the devil himself would surely be powerful enough to escape the island on his own, and also he's at work all over the rest of the world still.
Of course, it could still turn out that it's Jacob who is evil, but that does seem unlikely now considering how many people Smokey has murdered.

Have they explained the whole Jacob brings people to the island to prove Smokey wrong thing any further than that? I still don't buy that.

Heroes was a bit shit. . .which was a shame as it started off quite well. Although, it clearly wasn't as daft as Lost. Nothing is quite as daft as Lost - Not even Dallas was.

I think while he may have all these powers this Island is a like a fail safe jail that he literally can't get out by himself, he needs the person in charge of the Island to be dead and possibly needs someone to take him off. Which is probably why he wants someone to fly him off.

I think we all were. They had to die really, too late to intoduce new characters and to have them alive would just mean they'd get in the way.

New episode should be fun - the one line plot previews from wikipedia has me stoked - "Locke finally confronts his enemy". Not sure if they are referring to flash sideways Locke or MIB, because they refer to him as MIB usually.
