Television Lost: Season 5

I have a feeling Jacob will be someone we already know as he, like Richard, is also capable of time travelling.

I think the time travel is making the show far more interesting. I just wish that the writers had thought about this possibility at the start of the show and made sure that the whispers we hear in the forest echo the dialogue in this season. That would have been excellent writing.

I'm interested about the temple and the smoke. I always thought that the smoke was something created by Dharma, but judging by this episode, its far older than we had previousally thought. I remember that Ben had some kind of ancient door hidden inside his house. I guess this also links in with the giant foot they found way back.

I thought it was also interesting how they showed us clues regarding the teams illness. Appears to me that when the frenchies went down into the temple the smoke monster manipulated their minds. It was Jins precense that stopped Danielle from going down there and I assume preventing her from getting the illness.

question is who stopped danielle the first time from going down there ?

Is it not Jin, who has always stopped her or am I struggling to understand this concept?

Yes, Jin was always there, that´s how this whole timetravel thing works. Jut like like Richard always comes to Locke and Sawyer was always there to watch Claire give birth.

Yup.

There was never a 1988 where the Frenchies didn't meet Jin, that has always happened.

two same people cant exist permanently in the same timeline

Yes they can, just as long as they dont bump into eachother, for example, say when the O6 go back to the island and lets hypotheticaly say they go back to the island in its eighties (dharma time) young Jack will still be alive and doing his thing and old Jack will be doing his thing on the island. As long as they never meet it is possible.

:wenger:

You have not grasped the LOST time travel theory at all.

It always happened like that. Jin was the one who always stops her from going down. This sort of theory relies on destiny and fate which contradicts the principle of free-will and is largely illogical. But most time-travel theories are.

That's something that have been perpetuated in popular media via TV shows and movies and people have bought like it is actual science.

In the current LOST time travel theory, this is not applicable because that would mean either there are multiple universes or you can change the future ala 'Back to the Future'.

Please don't discuss future spoilers in here, nor discuss/show promos for up-coming episodes.

how is it changing the future if its always been that way?

Its been posted in white, if you choose to read it its your own fault.

The problem is when people decide to pick up on your white text and start discussing said spoiler, then we're no longer in charge of avoiding the spoiler ourself.
Just like when people decide to discuss promos - sure we can just avoid clicking the youtube-video, but that doesn't help much if half of the page is filled with people talking about the promo.

It's not a big deal, and I'll just stay away from the thread if people prefer to discuss rumours and promos.

It is not. But then Vidared is right that two versions of same person can not exist permanently in the same timeline.
They have decided to skirt the issues such as what happens if two versions come face to face because they don't have the answer to that in line with their current theory.

To be fair Top, what else where you expecting to find in a thread entitled 'Lost: Season 5'?

Discussion of Season 4?

promos aren't spoilers...they are aired right after the episode finishes on telly.

i think its more like that she didn't go down for another reason because the island wouldn't let her. The island didnt let michael kill himself either.

The writers need some consistencies in this.

they are still spoilers,

i dont know why people want to know what happens, i wont even read the blurbs on episodes, whenever i see an advert for Lost on Sky i mute it and close my eyes

anything thats been aired on tv is not categorized as spoilers.

although i understand your point of view also.

That does not fall in line with the theory they have going. Why did Richard visit Locke then? CFL did not really have any purpose to full, even the child she gave birth to died.

I'm deliberately not watching those as last time I did it, I felt it kind of spoilt the episode when I watched it the next week

i have it on good authority that jacob would be played by eric cantona in season 6

Jacob is Boone.

You heard it here first.

Or Vincent.

i think the O6 will get back to the island in todays episode

good episode that and they're back on the island and in the dharma timeline

where is desmond now?

why were the shoes significant ?

Lost still does it for me. Great show, hopefully they don't feck it up by prolonging it to 10 seasons or sth like that. This time traveling has a potential to be a major feck up.
