London 2012 Olympic Competition

I reckon he will feel like he has won a major whatever- beating Fed in such style at your home games has got to feel good.

Fed looked like he was throwing the match which shows how well Andy played.

Congrats Team GB!

Think he wanted to get off court asap- he wasn't hanging around at the end.

He didn't throw it. He gave everything he could but Andy was just on another level and demolished him completely.

As in the Wimbledon final, Amritraj and Wilkins are totally biased in favor of Murray. It's like watching a BBC telecast.

They were rooting for the underdog, nothing strange about it.

Very good performance from Murray, Federer oddly failed to close out many points from winning positions. That 6 break points he threw away was probably his last chance in the match.

Best performance of his career so far and his biggest win so far. Brilliant today. I think this will give him a lot more confidence in the grand slams.

I can see him winning Wimbledon next year.

Biggest win of his career, superb.

And finishIng the match so quickly can only help him and Robson later on.

Thought we deserved a gold on the pommel horse. Granted, I know less than nothing about the sport, but it looked good to me.

Last time Murray played this well he destroyed Nadal in the semis of the US Open before losing to Federer in the final. Finally he does it when he needed to in a 5 setter final against one of the top 3 so for going forward he knows he can do it.

Me too. I think Federer probably knows that as well and partly agrees with you, but he would've been desperate to win this. That he won't if it keeps up like this may annoy him a little bit but I see what you mean.

Personally I'd like to see this held in a much higher regard, but it's difficult when so many other grand slams surround it.

Nah, I think it's fine the way it is. You have 4 big GS' which decide where a player goes down in history, really. The Olympics is basically more about the country rather than a player. Despite being a huge Federer fan I only saw the third set of his semi and now the final. I want him to win every tournament he enters. But this would have been a bonus on top of Wimbledon for me. I can see him feeling differently of course.

Ah, that was wonderful, great performance. Well done, Andy.

His returning was outstanding today and he was really going for his forehand. Something's clicked for Murray ever since he started working with Lendl. He's going for his shots whatever the outcome he's starting to dictate the outcome of rallies on his own terms. Going into the hardcourt season I fancy him to pick up a few of the tournaments and then have a good go at the US Open which he's definitely one of the favourites for.

Federer played poorly.

Good for Murray though, lets not get carried away though.

I think it's great for him. He has to see this as a stepping stone to winning GS' now. Signs are good for his fans.

I think we're allowed to get a bit carried away, he just played brilliantly and everyone's on a wave of europhia after this week anyway. Let's enjoy it.

Why not? I think we should after the standard of his performance today. He destroyed Federer.

Is Murray playing another tennis game straight after? Mixed double gold match?

Yeah mixed doubles up later on no idea of start time.

Yep, his schedule has been mental. Djokovic Friday night, mixed doubles yesterday morning, mixed doubles yesterday evening, singles final just now, mixed doubles final this evening. Wow! Thank God he's riding on the atmosphere.
