Well, that was unexpected...

Before first game - Firmino injured.
During first game - Keita injured, we lose 3-0.
Between games - very tough win in Newcastle, Salah injured, Ox injured, Barcelona rests the whole 11.
So we've come to the game with Salah, Firmino, Keita and Ox unavailable, remaining players having to play 3rd game in 6 days against rested Barcelona and overcome 3-0 away loss.
Did I believe it'll happen? Come on, surely not. I didn't even emotionally turn on until we scored 3rd, cause I was constantly expecting something to happen. As if Robertson's injury wasn't enough...

The lads have their flaws, but mentality, workrate and belief is exceptional.

Fabinho is irreplaceable atm, while people were quick to call him a flop few months into the season. Playing on yellow for 80+ min as a DM against Barca with Messi... Wow.

Henderson is a proper warrior, and he also got significantly better since he's been played in more advanced role.

Both fullbacks are great. I thought Robbo will win the assist mini-competition, but TAA is now 2 ahead. TAA with exceptional quick thinking and decisiveness in crucial moment.

Origi ceases the moment, I'm pleasantly surprised by his attitude and effort. Wonder what's next for him.

Only Shaquiri was relatively poor. Too many misplaced passes, and inability to win physical battles (which is understandable), he needs to be a playmaker, not a winger workhorse. He's got a great eye and technique for a pass.

2 games to go. Now there's hope we don't end up with nothing to show for all the effort.

It's my only wonder about your team. Having put in all this work and effort this season, having over 90+ points and in the finals of the Champions League again, I wonder what kind of effect it would have on the team if they come up empty-handed at the end of the season.

No it's not. Liverpool with more european cups than Barça and Bayern ain't peanuts.
It's my coping mechanism

Where is the fecking weakness in this team ??
Someone please tell me???
Their midfield is nothing great. No wonder City have bossed their encounters this season and should have won both. They rely hugely on intensity and quick transitions. So when they meet a team that isn't that daunted by that (last year CL tie aside), they don't look as effective. So this Barca got hammered but peak Barcelona would have had a field day.

Excellent team though.

I'd like to offer my hearty congratulations to Liverpool for winning the 2019 Premier League title and ending 30 years of undeserved pain and misery in the process. No one team in the history of the sport has ever deserved it more than Klopp and his band of heroes.

Never has there been a more honourable, stylish, exciting, passionate, uncontroversial, cultured, and attractive title-winning football team. The greatest ever to grace the game. legends one and all. Gods among men. Hearts and minds. Etcetera.

I'll be having one on you lot tonight.

The league has had some wild moments. It wouldn't surprise me if City draw and Liverpool win it.

Defeating Wolves by a record 28 goals to 0 was what done it for me.

I couldn't help by shed tear or 19 watching The Great Hendo raise the trophy aloft.

I'm feeling a bit masochistic myself...kind of want to see Liverpool win the league. I don't see enough resenting of Woodward around here, especially after the Disneyland pitch that alerted even Klopp that we were in deep sh*t and turned him away.

There's not much weaknesses but there's still a few. Their pressing leaves large gaps of space on the opposite side of the field. PSG took advantage of this.
Matip or whoever is partnering Van Dijk usually gets dragged out when there's a CF that drops really really deep and leaves space as well. Hazard and Spurs took advantage of this.
They're not that good at runners that time their runs perfectly to break the offside trap. Messi, Hazard and the guy who assisted Lewandowski took advantage of this.
Sometimes their fullbacks leave loads of space behind but it's pretty hard to get past the counter-pressing and get the ball quick enough to target that area.

A strong midfield that can dominate the field and possession can beat them. But in the PL most teams don’t have such a midfield and the ones who do don’t have the balls to play like that

Not really. Maybe you mean press resistant midfield? Possession based teams usually struggle because their midfield break it up quickly and play fast transitions.

I think I agree with @Dolf

Either you bypass the press by going long but that is best done leaving 2 men forward-ish - much better than 1. But leaves you defending with 8. Or a MF that can pass through the high press, keeping possession & the team can get up the park as a unit. Spurs have done this quite well in games with them. Tactical dilemma.

Long balls out need to go into the FB areas. I remember Southampton doing this when the won at Anfield in that League Cup semi a few years back. Also Utd have had success with that when they played on Alexander-Arsehole mainly.

People were saying city wouldnt have as good a season as last year points wise which in a way is true but did people really think they would get 90 plus points again (possible two points shy) of equaling last seasons tally ?

I hadn’t expected City to get 98 points because I thought they’d wrap up the title by April and throw everything at the CL. Typically at Bayern, Pep would lose most of his points in the last couple of months when the league was effectively over. I still would’ve been shocked if they’d not managed at least 90 points though.

Liverpool pushing City much harder than expected has required City to keep winning right up to the final day. Next year, the early 90s will probably be enough for them to win it with games to spare. City’s success is a lot more sustainable than Liverpool’s, as shown by them managing to always stay a nose ahead despite their injuries and Liverpool’s huge slices of luck.

Fear is it has been a torture for City to score goals recently. Hopefully the score early today to settle things. Do Wolves have anything to play for?

City have had a full week off to prepare for this. It could happen but I’d be amazed if City slip up now. City have the best record in the league at scoring goals in the opening 15 minutes of games. If they extend that run today, I can’t see them dropping the necessary points Liverpool need to pounce. Obviously, the longer it remains stalemate at Brighton (and Liverpool are ahead at Anfield), we’ll be nervous but please God all the nerves - and the title - are settled by half-time today.

A bit cruel when you think about it. Get 97 points and not win the league? Crazy.

Our draw against them when we had all those injuries in the first half and they showed absolutely zero ambition to get three points. Wonder if they regret that :D

Hahahhahaha and still never seen them win the league in my lifetime.

It'd feel better if Barca didn't utterly feck it up

Still, thank feck. Thank fecking feck. A season full of undeserved points and silly dives should not win the title.

So did we deny them the league with the draw at old trafford? I'm saying yes :)
