Where is the fecking weakness in this team ??
Someone please tell me???

yeah, a nice quiet 0-2 suits the Wolves, no drama happening there

complete spineless capitulation from BHA is what's most needed on Sunday

You know what sucks? I've had a look on some other football forums, and they pretty much all unanimously agree that Liverpool deserved to win and play some of the best attractive football in Europe. When we won against PSG, everyone was laughing more at PSG because they conspired to lose against such a shit team. Whereas we're all calling Barca bottlers, but it's not as funny because Liverpool deserved to win. These are dark times.

So glad City still depend on themselves.

But mark my words, if this was a "THIS IS IT" game like that Barça-Atlético of 2014, you can be sure Liverpool would thrash 3-0 City at Anfield this weekend.

It was a THIS IS IT game at the Etihad this season and City beat them 2-1.

Nah .. no away goal kills Liverpool almost entirely. They might make a heroic effort and go 2-0 up or something but 3-0 is very, very hard to overcome and I doubt Barcelona will do it two CL seasons in a row.

We're in with a shot if Son can have a worldie, but 70/30 in Ajax's favour.
;)

Feck me, I hate being right :(

Nah. More like 1996. That was around six years since we last won. Like you lot now.

United had already won 3 PL titles and 3 FA cups in that time, and a UEFA cup. Im saying 91/92 really because that was the first season that United finished above Liverpool in the league in over a decade IIRC, and that's the same season United won the Uefa cup against Barcelona. That's when the tide started to change and it kicked off Fergie's era of domination

Our fans are too short sighted.

Look at Liverpool before they hired a progressive manager in Rodgers then Klopp.

That's all it takes.if we do the same instead of going for past iit managers or the easy option, we can do what they do. Trouble is, like our fans, we, as a club, are too short sighted. Hiring José is proof of that.

I expected Wolves would get at least a draw at Anfield and City could afford losing or draw against BHA, but aftee tonight win against Barca, Liverpool spirit will be sky high. They'll will win against Wolves.

We're accepting the dawn of a new era then? Not that long ago at all, there were still dozens of posters lining up to rate them as 'not all that' innit?

City looked a bit ropey the other night too, :nervous: :nervous:.

What I liked was how many there was to choose from for motm.

Alisson
Matip
TAA
Fabinho
Wijnaldum
Henderson
Origi

Hasn't gotten many mentions but my motm was Mane for overall performance. He was the clear focus for barca to contain and he never stopped causing them problems. Such a warrior.

So you can take out Salah and frimino out of the team, don't make a fecking difference. You can take rotate the midfield, don't make a fecking difference. You can partner Van dike with whoever, don't make a fecking difference. Last night even taking off Robertson, didn't make a fecking difference.
It all comes down to one fecking man....klopp! Take him out, then we may all have chance and that's not happening for a few years yet.

Last night was one game and these results often happen at Anfield

You can be damn sure if Liverpool lined up with that XI week in week out they'd be no where near the league title. Remember we went to PSG with no midfield and half an attack missing

They're certainly got a good manager though who like Fergie is getting a tune out of players who on paper are playing well above their level I mean taking a number 10/creative player like Wijnaldum and making him a workhorse midfielder who else saw that? Taking a LB from relegated Hull and seeing the potential to being one of the best in the league? To take Salah who failed in England and was doing so so in Italy and seeing the potential for him to be a 30 goal a season player

All that being said they still haven't won anything (not for a few more weeks anyway)

I've been saying it that the only team who were gonna stop Liverpool in the league and Champions league was City. It's a shame City got knocked out by their own doing as I said straight after Liverpool will win it. Atm the only team I see being better than Liverpool in world football is Man City.

I have massive issue with Barca's performance, but what a performance from Liverpool. The energy and desire was there from everyone. Alisson had the best game I've seen him had for you lot. On top of that, the atmosphere looked electric. You lot are so good right now. Fecking kill me now.

Glad it's not just me. Mane was my MotM too. Beast mode beast without Salah there to hog the ball.

2nd cl final in 2 years, 94+ points in the league.

Think it's about time that many of the "average on paper" and "it's the system" claims are put to bed.

With Alisson, taa, Gomez, VVD, Robertson, Fabinho, Mane, Firmino and Salah we've got a spine of of 9 players who are, if not all actually world class, then the next best thing to it.

Players like Matip, Keita (whose potential is up there with the core players above), Wijnaldum, Henderson and Milner are all very good players to have rotating into the side as well.

Imagine if they had got Fekir. A treble would've been on the cards.

Where is the fecking weakness in this team ??
Someone please tell me???

A strong midfield that can dominate the field and possession can beat them. But in the PL most teams don’t have such a midfield and the ones who do don’t have the balls to play like that

No chance they will lose the final.
Yeah it's not happening. They're the best team in the competition and by a good distance. Barcelona and City were the two that could have stopped them but both screwed up.

Sigh. I suppose 5 and 6 are all the same.

CL is the bigger trophy anyway so I can guarantee you the feckers don't care.

I disagree. You play 38 games to win the league title. The Champions League trophy can be won through fine margins as it's really a knockout competition. I think most managers would say most of their energy is spent trying to win the league title.

Let’s not get carried away. The fullbacks for example leave lots of space in behind.

For some reason barca succumb to high press. They panicked, changed from their normal formation and paid the price. But remember they only had to score 1 goal more for the tie to be out of reach for Liverpool.

Fair play for the amount of running they did last night but Barca through it away themselves. Stegen practically threw one in his own net ffs

Exactly. Ask the question to fans and players - they are desperate to win the league and prove themselves in their own backyard after teams from Manchester and London have dominated for the last nearly 30 years

We've been pretty poor whenever we have come up against a deeplying defence that also plays aggressively and with intensity. Our attackers don't like it when defenders come at them without plenty of space to run in.

Surprised at how vulnerable barca were to our press really. Bayern played around the press with relative ease, so did city, and it was a big part in nullifying our threat in those games.

I want to win the league because it's been so long since we have and this running joke would finally be done with. If we had won the league last year or even any given year since 2010 or so, I'd chose the Champions League because getting to 6 is a damn good achievement as well. I don't really place much difference in value between CL and PL, but obviously most of us would rather win the PL right now (not that I think it'll happen though).

Well, that was unexpected...

Before first game - Firmino injured.
During first game - Keita injured, we lose 3-0.
Between games - very tough win in Newcastle, Salah injured, Ox injured, Barcelona rests the whole 11.
So we've come to the game with Salah, Firmino, Keita and Ox unavailable, remaining players having to play 3rd game in 6 days against rested Barcelona and overcome 3-0 away loss.
Did I believe it'll happen? Come on, surely not. I didn't even emotionally turn on until we scored 3rd, cause I was constantly expecting something to happen. As if Robertson's injury wasn't enough...

The lads have their flaws, but mentality, workrate and belief is exceptional.

Fabinho is irreplaceable atm, while people were quick to call him a flop few months into the season. Playing on yellow for 80+ min as a DM against Barca with Messi... Wow.

Henderson is a proper warrior, and he also got significantly better since he's been played in more advanced role.

Both fullbacks are great. I thought Robbo will win the assist mini-competition, but TAA is now 2 ahead. TAA with exceptional quick thinking and decisiveness in crucial moment.

Origi ceases the moment, I'm pleasantly surprised by his attitude and effort. Wonder what's next for him.

Only Shaquiri was relatively poor. Too many misplaced passes, and inability to win physical battles (which is understandable), he needs to be a playmaker, not a winger workhorse. He's got a great eye and technique for a pass.

2 games to go. Now there's hope we don't end up with nothing to show for all the effort.
