And vice versa I'm sure.
Well I’ve certainly called anything Liverpool related better than you over the years.
Not that that’s much of an achievement.
You’d be in the relegation places on that front.

God the tears are streaming down my face - you're hilarious ! Can't be arsed trawling for some of your pearls but we both know there are more than plenty.Well I’ve certainly called anything Liverpool related better than you over the years.

Do you come into opposition threads to point score or is there some discussion to be had?Well I’ve certainly called anything Liverpool related better than you over the years.

Not only a WUM but a comedian. Love you to death.Pearls before swine, indeed.

The fee is pretty hefty. Two years ago that sort of fee for a player like Coutinho would’ve been unthinkable.
On the face of it I'd agree. Let's see what we do with that money (and this month, no arsing around saving it for the Summer). It has the potential to derail our season but as the stats I posted earlier show, we've actually performed better without him (9-3-1) than with him (8-9-1) this season so I'm holding onto that until proven otherwise.Huge blow to Liverpool losing Coutinho.
I assumed he'd be there until the Summer so this is a nice surprise I have to say.
And we're watching you.Oh don’t be so wet.
It’s daft to come out with statements saying he definitely won’t be sold when everything we know about Liverpool suggests it was very likely he would be sold. Especially after Van Dyk being purchased.
To add on the ‘enjoy the comedy show’ bit was particularly lacking in self-awareness. There’s only one comedy show in town here.

If we get Mahrez +1 on top of VVD I can actually see us doing very well over the remaining course of the season (meaning Top 4 and a good CL run, maybe FAC run too, obviously in cups the luck of the draw has a big say in determining the outcome).
And we're watching you.
I’ve never said he definitely won’t be sold though. I’ve always been of the opinion that we’d sell in the summer before the World Cup, which is a reasonable assumption to make.Oh don’t be so wet.

Who was the first to post the breaking news (in this thread) ? Not exactly defensive behaviour was it ? No what is bemusing (and not just myself it seems) is that you are notably absent from any real conversation unless you feel you can win points. You are all snide remarks and digs. It's rather perverse behaviour and demonstrates an innate inferiority complex to be honest, as if having 20-18 isn't enough for you you feel the need to chalk up wins on that blackboard in your head. Why so defensive. Just admit you got it tragically wrong, again.

I’m shocked that he’s gone now. I thought the Van Dijk transfer was linked but not because Coutinho was about to jet off to Barcelona mid season.
You’re telling me that you’ve always expected Coutinho to be sold in this window since we kept him in the summer?
One can only hope. VVD already looks a great investment and Keita to come this Summer is surely a great improvement on our current midfield. If we can adequately replace Coutinho - and Klopp has proved he's pretty good at finding the right people in attack - and add another quality CM and GK in the Summer I'll be very pleased. £142m is a lot of money and could fund both Lemar and Mahrez, would those two be equal or better to Coutinho ? I'd like to think so based on their stats.Flash forward to next winter and Liverpool will look back on this deal with a big smile, they will have reinforced with terrific options after getting great return on their paltry investment in Coutinho
Don’t you think it’s unusual for a club to agree to sell one of their best players midway through a season though?I’ve no idea why you’re defending yourself. My post was clearly not directed at you.
Obviously I’ve known Coutinho is leaving since last summer. It was just a case of when. It became clear it would be this window after the Van Dijk deal.
Liverpool’s statements about not selling him were just PR bravado. Even in the summer. That was the public face. The private face would have been a tacit agreement to sell him.

For what it’s worth you’re probably right about the PR stuff. The Van Dijk thing seems like something FSG would do to save face for when they get their commission back.
Oh that's no meltdown, it's an accurate observation of your behaviour. Sorry if I've hit a sore spot (I'm not really). What are you on about with this little meltdown?
Torres was years ago though, back in 2010. It looks like a one off during eight years of FSG’s ownership (well not anymore). Weird that Barcelona are ok with him being cup tied for the CL as well but I suppose that’s only a handful of games. Not at all. You’ve just benefitted from doing just that.
You’ve also done it before under same owners (Torres).
The World Cup year complicates the summer market too.

I'm not sure that would be an issue - after all we didn't want to sell him in the first place and don't really need the money. However with his head turned and set we were obviously looking at replacements - I'll assume at this point that we now have them (him) lined up. Let's see what happens this month. Maybe that was why Mahrez was not in the Leicester squad and didn't travel today ?I can see why Coutinho was desperate to leave of course but I really don't see what Liverpool get by selling him now. Unless Barcelona said they wouldn't be coming back in again? I can only see it being that.

How childish it is that a 'grown man' keeps track of comments made on forums to use later to score 'chalkboard' points. Very sad behaviour, almost pitiable.I’m sorry I pointed out you were wrong again.
Maybe you feel like you should be allowed carte blanche to talk utter bollocks on here all the time and never be pulled up on it.
But yeah it’s something to do with me not being content with 20/18 or whatever. Christ.

God forbid.Moussa Sissoko is available I believe.
Of that I'm not sure. I know some Liverpool fans rate him, I initially thought he had great promise and would develop, I haven't seen it in him and have changed my mind. Not sorry at all to see him go and think even an average player could replace him, hopefully we can do much better than that though. That's the thing really, VVD & Keita are as 'sure things' as they get, if Lemar and a keeper are brought in then you can afford to gamble on 'cheaper' signings to fill out the squad. I think Emre Can's departure will be more of an issue to remedy

Either way, from what I have seen of even the current Coutinho-less Liverpool from Klopp, they are beginning to turn into something and surely their next few acquisitions will be a real statement of intent to give it a go for the Premiership title...next season
