Liverpool - 2017/18

That's what Liverpool fans are for :(
I miss @Rafateria talking about can, horrenderson & co.
Really ? I think you may be confusing me with someone else.

Sorry haven't posted much (any?) recently to keep you amused. Was away on a 6 week photographic trip with only occasional internet access to read (not get involved in) debates :)

Welcome back! Had fun?

Not sure where else to post.

Dalglish saying Favourite club is ManUtd and player is Denis Law

I think, deep down, everyones favourite club is Man Utd.

Watch them considering him a traitor now.

The fact he's wearing the hoops that says it was pre 77.

:boring:

Everybody knows his club was Rangers by the way. He grew up kicking shit in the tennies next to Ibrox .

I think most young Scottish lads in the 60's and 70's would have said the same thing about Dennis Law.

Ronnie Whelan grew up supporting Utd and I think Rio and Solskjaer were both Liverpool fans. Fowler, Carra and Owen were all Evertonians. It's different for players - many tend to switch allegiances once they start to play for a club where they are successful. Fergie was a massive fan of Shankly - he used to play tapes of him talking on the Aberdeen bus.

Busby played and captained us.

Completely unrelated but thought I'd say it. We were wearing Addidas in 1977 when United's lads were dressed for a Bay City Rollers concert.

I wouldn't say that's the most famous Cup final fashion disaster between Utd and Liverpool though...

Some of youse though in 1996 were still dressed like Bez if I remember correctly.

Remember about a year or two after that when loads of players got perms  what were they thinking

They're so damn predictable. 4-3-3 every match, no change of tactics like ever.

Most teams know how to play them now. Sit deep, chip ball over the press.

Some will say we should have done better today but Liverpool are always up for Utd and we would have been naive to go guns blazing. Lukaku scores in first half and we then hear about a Jose masterclass all weekend.

Liverpool can't seem to get the balance between attack and defence right. It's all so very end-of-Brendan-Rodgers-reign in my opinion.

When was the last time Pool won btw? I honestly can't remember.

Think the Arsenal game. Yeah, the blueprint is out on how to play them and they can't even make the slightest adjustments. Klopp is also very poor with subs too. He literally has no influence on the game once you've thwarted his plan A.

His subs scored more goals than any other team in the league last season

Maybe when games were already 2-0 or 3-0 but when it comes to big games and tight games he seems to never have influence in changing it with subs.
Bang on.

Stop Liverpool from scoring early and they struggle.

They're not a bad side. But last season flattered them - Europa League is about their level.

Liverpool fans are absolutely seething that they didn't win yesterday.

They were convinced that "as soon as Utd face us, they'll get battered, la."

They seem to forget that they've won just one game in the last eight.

They always take the pee out of Everton fans for "supporting Man Utd" but that Red Man TV channel was hilarious yesterday. They've all resorted to "If Man City came here, they'd have a go at us". Yeah, and probably concede 3 goals and let you win, you bitter Bin Dipping scrounger.

So I have a question..

Alot of the focus has been on Mourinho/United yesterday and their approach to the game. Ignoring that for a second what do our resident Scouse loving bunch think about how Liverpool set up and are they happy with it?

For me there were alot of similarities between the mindset of both Klopp and Mourinho yesterday. It was like a game of chess which no one wanted to lose. Neither team had a plan B and no one was willing to try something new to take the three points. From a United perspective there was no plan B due to injuries. From a Liverpool one Klopp, despite all his bravado, didn't want to risk losing the midfield battle and possibly the game.

When you look at it Klopp was pretty gutless.

Our resident Scousers don't seem to post much anymore.

Where is @Rafateria @Cassady @Cassidy @redman5

And the other 576 of them?

Still here mate. Not much to add on my club at the moment. It's groundhog day a far as I'm concerned. Same old issues. Same old issues not being resolved.

Thought your team was well worthy of point yesterday BTW. Can't understand the criticism from some fans on here. You're not going to win 3 or 4 nil every game. Jose came for a point & he got it. Let's move on.

That's what Mourinho emphasized after the game. That Liverpool did not go for the win (from a tactical perspective) any more than we did.

I think the criticism is not so much about how we were set up. The line up was 4-2-3-1 which is pretty attacking for an away day at Anfield. It's about how we played, which was pretty frustrating because we couldn't keep the ball at all and our forwards became isolated.

Quite refreshing to hear that. Thanks.

Obviously, as the stats all show, we dominated and but for rank profligacy would have won. I think Carra and Neville are wrong in suggesting Klopp should have, when making subs, have sacrificed a midfielder and dropped Coutinho in there for Solanke or Sturridge up front (and of course ignoring the fact Coutinho was out on his feet after all the travel to S.Am). We did what we had to do first - superbly contained Lukaku and Martial (and later Rashford), dominated midfield and created more than enough chances to have won without any need to change style or revert to a Plan B.
