Liverpool - 2017/18

Still here mate. Not much to add on my club at the moment. It's groundhog day a far as I'm concerned. Same old issues. Same old issues not being resolved.

Thought your team was well worthy of point yesterday BTW. Can't understand the criticism from some fans on here. You're not going to win 3 or 4 nil every game. Jose came for a point & he got it. Let's move on.
I was happy with the point mate, really thought we'd lose as you lot were overdue a win.

I think both parties can be happy with the point and move on.

We will beat them at Old Trafford if we have more CM options. The 2 v 3 in midfield meant we couldn't press and had to sit deeper.

Obviously, as the stats all show, we dominated and but for rank profligacy would have won. I think Carra and Neville are wrong in suggesting Klopp should have, when making subs, have sacrificed a midfielder and dropped Coutinho in there for Solanke or Sturridge up front (and of course ignoring the fact Coutinho was out on his feet after all the travel to S.Am). We did what we had to do first - superbly contained Lukaku and Martial (and later Rashford), dominated midfield and created more than enough chances to have won without any need to change style or revert to a Plan B.

I don't disagree. This game is still fairly early in the season for Klopp to throw caution to the wing and go gung-ho for the win. Liverpool had a good game yesterday.

And in the meantime a comet could possibly wipe us out.

Why do people try to prophosise football ?

There's no AFCON on this season . Liverpool therefore will win every game in January.

Kin' ell.

Was more of a confident prediction but ok.

aye, got the look of quite a big game this one, position in table will look pretty poor if they lose

Hope Spurs trashes them !

Im kind of torn, as much as seeing Liverpool lose is great. Spurs are sitting in third now just 3 points behind us. They could do with a bollocking from Liverpool, knock the wind out of their sails a little.

This is the serious thread. Please post your funny chat elsewhere.

I'm going to give Liverpool some credit re: their league form (shock horror!) ;)

I actually can't remember the lost time they lost a match and they're picking up clean sheet after clean sheet.

I can see them scrapping it out for 4th place with us, Chelsea and Arsenal.

This is why I said last night: right now, I'd be very happy with a top 3 finish and a few cups. Because City are on another level to everyone else and I think behind closed doors Jose knows and has accepted this, as has Klopp, Wenger and Conte.

Anyway yeah, well done Liverpool you cnuts.

United are 6 points ahead of them and 14 goal difference better, United won’t be fighting for 4th place with them. We will stay 2nd all season, more than likely.

Our next two matches are Arsenal and Man City. Lose both of them and who knows?

Never say never. Hope I'm wrong but there is plenty of time left for Liverpool to catch us.

Way too early to say imo. I do not think we are the finished article and I expect better from us next season but the same can be said of the red sh1te. If their attack clicks they could go on a run and start blowing teams out of the water, even with an absolutely shocking defence. Likewise, I can see us drawing too many over the course of the season to challenge too. 6 points is nothing.

Low chance of us losing to Arsenal especially now that Lacazette has been ruled out of the game and Sanchez is a doubt.

yeah, but we think catching 8 points is more realistic and yours truly will wobble in the winter period.

Are you alright PB? Seriously, I'm worried for your health.
I missed this earlier. I am fine mate.

I'm a realist when it comes to footy, or at least I like to think I am.

I don't get carried away if we're winning or losing and I don't get carried away when rivals are losing/winning.

The league is a marathon and some of the kneejerking around here of late has made me despair. There's plenty of time for anything to happen, basically.

Considering Liverpool were a bit of a laughing stock a while back, they're currently doing very well and like I say, I can't remember when they last lost a league game (was it Spurs?).

Fair enough PB, I'll have to take you off 'that' list of posters then. :)

Yes the last loss was one of the two thrashings we got in the league, i.e. City and then Spurs.

There is a long way to go. All fines get carried away very easily. There are no guarantees we'll finish second but looking at Liverpool, how many times under Klopp have they put a nice little spell together then lost 1-0 to some shite side? Their defensive problems remain aside from anything else.

really impressed with how they're playing at the moment, great run of fixtures coming up and if they can keep this momentum going before the Arsenal game they could well have a healthy gap over both Spurs and Arsenal going into the new year

They've gone under the radar recently. Probably because they got written off after a bad run of form, plus all the attention is on Manchester at the moment, but they seem have to gotten the ball rolling now. I would pick them to complete the top 4 alongside Chelsea, City and ourselves, though not sure in what order. There's no doubt the defensive frailties are still there, but their attacking options are very strong.

Liverpool have good depth in midfield and attack this season. I expect them to do better than last season. 80 pts or thereabouts.

Depth up front is the main improvement from last year where we totally stalled as soon as Mane and Coutinho were out. Should be enough to hit 80+ (which we should have got last season, tbh) if we can keep the defensive calamities at bay.

Far from a given mind. Can and Lovren in defence against Brighton. Klavan, Matip, Gomez, Clyne and Moreno all out (the latter helped us a bit). Our depth in defence is awful, and Henderson, Wijnaldum and Milner are all struggling compared to last season.

Hopefully we can bring in Keita in January (unlikely) and finally bring in Van Dijk plus Draxler/Goretzka which should set us up to be very competitive in the CL and consolidate top 4 imo
