Liverpool - 2017/18

Worrying thing about the result is that we're not ready to turtle. If this was WBA going down to 10 men, they'd probably concede 1 max, but they'd also never leave their penalty area. Despite defensive 2nd half setup, we've clearly stretched too high up and allowed City to really run riot here.

Concerning, but again, important to move on immediately. CL on Wednesday, really big game, lose that, morale's down forever.

Ox must be wondering whether he is still playing for Arsenal.

You don't have to concede five goals just because you have ten men. Especially if you're meant to be decent side (it wasn't a good excuse when City put six past United at Old Trafford).

Klopp obviously didn't know what to do after the red.

At least they will shut up about record vs top 6.

Somewhere in Germany Keita is cursing himself and wondering what he has got himself into.

He got caught in two minds imo. He took Salah off making it seem like he was giving up on the game but the tactics suggested he told the players to keep attacking.

We have to move on now anyway. If you dwell on games like that it can be damaging later on down the line.

There's no chance we'd concede 5 in the same situation.
Klopp is naive.

Big worry for Liverpool fans. Klopp is so clueless in terms of organising his team defensively. They came out for that 2nd half and didn't know what to do.

It's cool being so gung ho and scoring lots of goals but I'm sure a lot of managers could do that if they didn't have to think about defending. Finding that balance is the key to success and after 2 years here, Klopp doesn't know how to find it.

Don't think it was a red card, because red card here is basically a message to footballers, to never raise their foot on the ball no matter the situation.
Your post is a full pile of dogshit. Pathetic post.

please.

It's not like mourinho, or ferguson, have never been on the receiving end of a 5-0.

probably true.

Dont think it isn't something we can't move past fairly quickly though. Defensive frailty notwithstanding. Managers have off days too.

Are you seriously comparing that City side to the Barca side that dished out the 5-0 against Madrid?

Should have sold Coutinho and bought 2 new CBs.

Yeah. It's been obvious for a long time and now instead we're left with fecking Klavan as CB against the best attacking line in the league.

He didn't even have an alternative to van Dijk. That's the most baffling thing about Klopp's stubbornness.

Instead he opted for The Ox.

Sound business if your name is Jurgen Klopp who doesn't seem to care 1 iota for his defensive issues. Not when he can blame everything else for the losses - including the wind.

Doesn't seem like it. And yeah, it's weird. We now have a situation, where we are supposed to compete in four tournaments but our CB situation is that we have three, and just one of them is good enough. One just isn't good enough and the last one is downright atrocious. I really can't understand what made them spend 40m on Chamberlain and nothing on a quality CB. God, I miss Agger.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: "The game was tight, it was equal when it was 11 against 11. After the red card it was different - I know it's not easy to play against 10, it's easier but not easy.

"But we controlled the game and the second goal before half-time was so important. They changed the system and we spent a few minutes to adjust but after that we were in control.

"We think nothing is broken but Ederson has a big scar - hopefully he can come back as soon as possible. Of course it was not intentional from Mane because he was looking at the ball and didn't see the keeper but the impact is huge."

Guardiola is right, Liverpool were playing well before the red card. Klopp didn't know what to do after the red card though.

Weekend is not as bad as expected. Mane, Salah, Firmino, Lovren (sigh) and Coutinho rested and ready for Sevilla. And Sturridge too for next weekend. Roll on champions league.

Jurgen doesn't believe in staying compact & banging it long though does he? So he says anyway.

Sometimes you get tonked playing 10 vs 11, can happen. There wasn't anything there at 2-0 down for LFC to bite on in the 2nd half was there? More goals a bit inevitable really - subs he made were a bit like the towel coming in as well.

anyone who doesn't think that was a 110% red card is either a lunatic or trying to fabricate (from wishful thinking maybe) some injustice where there was none. - or are being a shit pundit trying to stoke up a 'hot topic'

No big mean DM to come on either is there - with JK not believing in them.

Liverpool were probably the better team up till the red card but their defence is so leaky, I fancied us to grab a second before they got an equaliser. They were cut apart by simply through balls straight down the middle which is criminal.

They were much worse post red card but I think the 3rd goal was exactly the same. Sergio just ran onto a through ball from near the halfway line pretty much uncontested. Honestly the worry for them is their defence made ours look good by comparison. TAA got roasted today numerous times. KDB destroyed him for the 2nd goal, with a simple touch.

Of course its one of those days and Liverpool are a much better side than the showed 2nd half today but staying so open against City with 10 mean was crazy. 11 v 11 they were quite good but couldn't quite put that final move together (bar the one that put Salah in).

Judging them off the 11 v 11 portion of the game I'd say they'll be there or there about with the rest of the top 4.

Players don't need rest this time of the season. They want to be playing and banging in goals, staying in form.

Why would I do that? Mourinho's real was also a far better side as well.
