I bet he's contractually obliged to say daft shit like that. If he truly believes that...
In regards to the bolded part, don't you think if we start poorly serious scrutiny would be on Klopp
rather than the owners? Considering he seems more than content with the situation of the squad. Time and time again he's confirmed he has the final say so why would the owners get the blame? Unless we are saying FSG aren't making the funds available and moves for players deemed unattainable (Keita) is just for show to say "at least we tried".
A couple of decent ones they could probably get....Name five centerbacks that would make Liverpool stronger?
Every Centerback form Spurs, Chelsea, City, United, Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern etc etc etc.
Now if the question was 5 they had a realistic chance of getting, then I agree with him, there isn't a lot of choice.
A couple of decent ones they could probably get....
Sokratis, Tah, Glik, Kjaer, Manolas.
If by 'people' you mean the Brazilian or Spanish press, whilst the British press are saying £120-135m ? Then that's the clubs, or supposed ITKs, feeding them. This is the outcome I would prefer. Him leaving this summer is out of the question if we want to compete. On the case of his value though, do you have any idea why people would think we would consider selling him below £100 mil? It wouldn't even be entertained imo.
It's ridiculous to think there are no Centre Backs in football better than Lovren which we can attain.
We've been trying to spend 120m already this summer without luck. I don't see how adding another 120m and a desperate need to spend it well to replace our best player is going to improve matters.
I think aside from Solanke and Robertson, Klopp identified 3 players to improve us Salah, Keita and Van Dijk. My guess is he won't buy anyone else for the sake of it as especially given the current money being paid for players, as in his eyes they are not significantly better than what we have.
Most fans though would say we need a big improvement at CB and possibly in CM too - but I suppose that was going to be Keita and Van Dijk. It's possible they were our only targets and we aren't looking at any others.
He also appears to see Kent as a first team player now, which is fair enough, so even he could be considered as cover and back up for Mane and Salah (maybe even Lallana).
Moreno is obviously back in favour too.
Sakho is still not in his plans and Markovic perhaps likely to move also.
I think Salah will be a bench strengthener, not a starter per se.
Especially with Mane switching to the left and Mo on the right allowing them to cut in on their strong foots. We'll get some lovely attacking football this season, but I want trophies first.Hard to say. His competition is Lallana in midfield. So a lot will be weighed against how good coutinho is in midfield as well, vs Salah on the wing.
The way he has started, he looks good to start though (and Lallana injured for now makes it an easy choice). Also, there is something alluring about having a winger on each flank who is absolutely rapid.
The point is that 100m wouldn't buy us a proper replacement at this stage. Having them in the bank might cheer up fsg but I don't see how it helps our sporting Terms. Spurs are welcome to the 'we're most financially prudent team in the league' trophy now that arsenal have realised it's a shit trophy. So, most of you would want to hold onto Coutinho instead of cashing 100m.
What if you don't win any trophies and drop out of the top 4? Would you regret having held onto him? Or in other words, you'd have missed out on Barcelona's 100m and you'd have lost a big chunk of attractiveness for potential replacements.
At least right now Barcelona have lots of cash to spend and you have CL (qualification) to offer.
I agree it'd be useless in the bank, you can only sell him if you find a replacement. It could work for you, but it could also go tits up. It could be your make or break decision. The point is that 100m wouldn't buy us a proper replacement at this stage. Liverpool can't exactly go back for VVD now after releasing that public statement, can they?VVD will end up at Chelsea, and Coutinho will hand in a transfer request, probably tomorrow.
I don't see this going any other way, knowing how this club operates.
Surely, Chelsea are ok at the back, aren't they?VVD will end up at Chelsea, and Coutinho will hand in a transfer request, probably tomorrow.

They are fine. it's City we need to worry about. But I'm not sure after their spending this summer, if City can Justify a 70m outlay. That's Southampton's asking price apparently.
Although City have strong interest in Mbappé so one cannot be sure.

WTF. FSG are going to pay big time. Carra was right, there are going to be riots.
He's off! Goodbye top four chances.
