Liverpool - 2017/18

So coutinho is ready to take a paycut to join barcelona. 100 million euros should do it.

Being part of a team that determinedly bottles every trophy up for grabs would probably drive him to contemplate paying Barca to play for them, let alone take a paycut.

Good news if so. Them without Coutinho neutralizes their increased goal threat on buying Salah. If they do keep Coutinho though, they will have a very sharp attack.

Coutinho is so important for Liverpool I think - their best player by a margin

If he stays (together with one or two other signings) I think they could make a title challenge
If he goes, I think that top 4 will be a struggle

That's the difference he makes

Yeah, it will be a huge loss for them. Despite what they are willing to pay, it will be virtually impossible for them to find another player with the same ability to replace him.

Exactly - this is such a difficult market unless a player specifically wants to move to a certain club (like Coutinho in this instance). And if a similar calibre player does turn out to be available, it won't just be Liverpool in for him - it will also be other clubs like ourselves

Like others have said, I don't think he'll be sold this summer. We're too dependant on him and don't seem to need the money. It would probably take close to a world record fee. I've also yet to see any reports of him wanting away.

If we have any hopes of improving next season, we can't sell our best player.

Besides, I can't think of any player that we could get this summer who'd be able to replace him.

A fair price would be £80-85m given the length of contract he currently has.
Only issue for Liverpool if he does really push to go is who do they replace him with. Doesn't seem like he's going to throw his toys out of the pram, so maybe it'll be a situation like we said with Ronaldo. Stay one more year and we'll let you go next summer for £x.
Only problem with that potentially is that Barca may not want him then.

No way. They could cement their place in the top 4, but they would still need better depth to fight for the title.

How long has Coutinho been playing for you and how much of a difference has he made? Is he really as good and valuable as you think he is?

Just in contrast Suarez was miles more obviously out of your league and it was clear he'd make it at Barca. But Coutinho? I'm honestly not sure if he'd even be a regular starter.

Ridiculous how much Liverpool fans on here have the wool pulled over their eyes by empty platitudes from their players in the press.

Oh he's happy, he loves the club, he loves the fans (who are so lovable). He won't leave.

It's like you've not been paying attention to your club over the past two decades and the conveyor belt of every top player trying to and usually succeeding at getting out at the first reasonable opportunity.

Best hope is you delay it.

It's not that I don't think he'll leave, it's that I don't think he'll leave right now.

If Barcelona want him next summer I think they'll get him. Depends what kind of season he has. His form dipped massively for a few months last season.

I think that's what most level-headed Liverpool fans are expecting, and honestly, that's a pretty damn exciting thing to think about going into the 17/18 season.

Not only is he motivated by the potential move to Barcelona, but also for totally cementing himself a spot in the Brazil World Cup squad for 2018. Provided he stays injury free and gels well with the new players around him (Salah & potentially Kieta), then I fully expect him to have his best season in a Liverpool shirt yet.

Beyond that? Yeah, he'll probably move, but honestly I'm just too excited about the upcoming season to care about stuff so far away :D And as I said earlier, as long as he leaves in a respectful way (which he will), I'll really enjoy watching him work in a Barcelona shirt.

Sell him fecking now. 80m is a pile of cash.

He has been consistently inconsistent. He is not worth near that cash. Mane is still your best player

Coutini-go

This would be a great deal for liverpool

It's who they get to replace him.

Mane is great and all but Coutinho is the only one with any real football brain. The final ball nearly always goes through him.

No new developments on any transfers, apparently Fiorentina won't pay the asking price for Markovic.
There is a supposed tweet from a Spanish journalist who alleges Coutinho has told Klopp that if LFC do not want to sell him he is happy to stay.
Reading between the lines suggest he won't actively seek a move. Whether that is true who knows.

New pitch being laid , first image shows new seats at the back of the KOP being fitted, second image is more recent obviously.
They use special artificial fibres also that make the grass stronger.
My season ticket seat is parallel with the shadow near the KOP on the right, about 15 seats back near the exit.

Confirmed by Pearce and the Echo. He's going nowhere.

It looks very nice.

Keita deal abandoned and Soton keen on reintegrating VVD.

Does Klopp have other targets murmured?
Must have, but they have to decide if they will sign a first teamer and give up on kieta even for next year or sign a squad player and risk it in the new season. I think it was reported Klopp wanted VVD or no one. So that could be tricky. I think if kieta has another great season, many other clubs will come in for him. It is risky but maybe i think klopp will make a squad signing and try for kieta again next season.

JEEZ! You are so full of anger aren't you? What is it, problems with your boyfriend? I guess only time will tell when the window closes. In the meantime, less of the abuse please. BTW, I never mentioned once that Coutinho was going to stay. Not once! Glad you're being entertained since your boyfriend can't be doing a good job then. :D
This post again shows what a clueless douche you are. I was not angry at all..thats the way I communicate with wannabes and pretenders, who are not able to understand the most simple things.

..and your boyfriend reference amused me too. Shows what a pathetic little boy you are.

What are your impressive sources telling you about getting Keita?

He's been banned

Coutinho seems a very grounded lad, which is a shame since I would love to see him kick up a fuss.

Also judging from certain comments from him it seems he has swallowed the red scouse pill and is fully on board with their delusions. The quote about Liverpool being the bees knees of English football comes to mind.

Reckon it will pan out like the Ronaldo deal, agreement to stay for one more year and then be allowed to leave on good terms, then again Barca might not be interested in a years time.

I think so. And if Barca are not interested a year from now then all the better for us !

How are Liverpool lining up this season do the pool fans think on here? Will Solanke be a starter?

I've mainly been watching liverpool as I wanted to see how Salah does for them when they signed him from us (he looks really good for them so far and links with Coutinho and Firmino very well).

Been very surprised by Solanke, his movement is very good for a guy of his age and has a couple of goals as well this pre season.

They have a lot of pace and movement and players who can interchange in the front 3. If they can get Keita and VVD, they will do well this season. Perhaps not a sustained challenge for the PL but I wouldn't be surprised by a top 4 finish and a cup trophy.

Of courseit might be too early for me to say that but theyre football looks good at the moment and will get better if Klopp gets his signings.

Difficult to say at the moment. Still a few weeks to go in the transfer window and I'd be surprised if we don't get a new CB (VVD still on) and CM. Using Klopp's comments as a barometer (names underneath are backups) .....

................................... Mignolet
.............................. (Karius or Ward)

Clyne .................. Matip .... VVD (assuming) ....... Milner
(AA + Gomez) ... (Lovren, Gomez, Klavan) ....... (Robertson)

......................... Henderson + Wijnaldum
.......................... (Can, Ejaria, Grujic)

................................ Coutinho
..................... (Lallana, Firmino, Salah)

Mane ...................... Firmino ...................... Salah
(Lallana, Sturridge, Origi, Ings, Solanke, Woodburn, Kent. Coutinho)

My optimistic XI

---------------Mignolet
Milner----Matip----VVD----Robertson
-------------------Can
---------Coutinho----Keita
Mane--------Sturridge-------0-Salah

Based on Can and Sturridge playing to their potential.

Having Clyne, Lovren, Henderson, Lallana, Wijnaldum and Firmino who were all regulars as 2nd line is a great improvement on our squad depth.

Coutinho as our best player followed by sturridge. TAA as breakout youngster. Wijnaldum as most valuable squad player thanks to his mix of technique, reliability and versatility.

The more it gets close to the start of the season, the more you don't want to sell a player. Not enough time to replace him.

I really dont think he is going . Ive watched the last two games and him and Salah have a great understanding.

Solanke looks a steal at 3 million was it ?

Robertson looked good today and from what Ive seen of him he loves getting forward which is not a bad thing if you can defend too.

Let's hope Flannagan gets involved more this season too and from Ive read he will.
