Liverpool - 2017/18

I predict a very similar season for Liverpool as last, a good start with a new year drop off.

It could be good for them to sell Coutinho and spend the money on 3/4 players for squad depth as Klopp seems good at getting the right players for good prices. Worse case for them would be keeping a sulking Coutinho who wanted to leave.

I agree with most of this but as it stands there is no evidence he wants to leave.

Rumour mill gathering steam that Coutinho has agreed terms. It seems he's open to a move. Not sure it will happen though if Neymar stays.

I'm a huge Mane fan but he is clearly second behind Coutinho. He's been bailing us out of games for a couple seasons now, some of the goals and passes he produced last season were just brilliant. Don't get me wrong he has some games where he is anonymous but playing in the Champions League is going to motivate him to kick it up a notch, we will see. If he goes to Barca feck him though.
Yeah, he scores amazing rockets from outside the box, but look at how you struggled without Mané last season.

Just imagine the lulz if they actually fail to qualify for the Champions League. Against, say… Celtic. Managed by Brendan Rodgers.

For the lulz, please happen.

Can't draw them due to them being in two different sections. That's another dream I've destroyed today. What fun !

We struggled without Mane because we also ended up with an horrendous injury list at the same time. Remember the bench that averaged 19.5 yrs old ? We were pretty damn good over the final 2 months (with Mane still out) when the injury list improved slightly.

So if a player wants to move then surely the selling club can't do anything to stop him, right? That's what the Liverpool fans have been telling us throughout the VvD and Keita sagas.

To date though Coutinho has said the complete opposite about wanting to leave.

Good try.

Have we, where?

Depends on the selling club, and if that player puts in a transfer request.

Keita as it stands clearly is going nowhere, Van Dijk who knows, last I heard he was training alone.

As for Coutunho where has he said he wants to leave?

You party pool-per.

I can also settle for Nice or Hoffenheim. I actually think Hoffenheim has a legitimate chance against Liverpool, a better chance than Nice has.

Although Nice & Balotelli would generate more lulz. So, the, ehrm… "dream" as you put it, is still alive. :wenger:

Keita has never said about leaving either, atleast publicly. Do you think he doesn't want to go to Liverpool?

Stop putting words in our mouths... We've been saying to those who say he'll go to Barca that we can do exactly the same as what the clubs of our targets are doing with their players.

Ha ha. Yeah I don't fancy Hoffenheim too much but Klopp knows German football and we put away a much better team, with a weaker squad that we have now, in Dortmund a couple of seasons ago. Luckily Ajax will likely knock Nice out.

Glad you added the 'at least publicly', Gives your post at least the aura of legitimacy when seemingly the opposite is true ! He's done absolutely nothing to dispel our advances with the two offers we've made and the discord in the RBL camp is palpable so it's more than likely his agent is encouraging the bids. This is in complete contrast to Coutinho's statements re. Liverpool.

All water under the bridge now.

There is a new Neil in town – Julian Nagelsmann! Or as Pep Guardiola calls him: mini-me with a big computer.

Nothing likely about that fixture. Ajax struggled against a Lyon team last season in EL, a team was clearly much better than them.

Haha, are you for real? So you read the same situation differently depending n whether you are buying or selling?

Actually, Barca probably are better at it and won't get caught with their pants down trying to prove to the world that Coutinho wants to join them.

I think they have one of the most underrated players in the league in Firmino. I really liked him at Hoffenheim and wanted him here, but he's been even better than I thought he'd be. It's pretty annoying watching him play for them.

The RBL sports director have admitted publicly he wants to leave though. Not the player himself, but i don't see why Ragnick would lie about that.

Seems you are totally ignorant of comments made by players, managers and Arena11sports.

I think he's pretty great too however there are lot of low arm swinging Liverpool fans who see only the number of goals he scores and not his all round game.

The clue is in Klopp's determination to keep him on the pitch. You don't stay in the side if you're no good. Firmino is a very good footballer who does a great job in bringing out the best in others.

He makes everyone around him better. I don't think there is a player in the league playing how he does. Some weird blend between dirk kuyt and Dennis Bergkamp.

It would be nice if he scored more, got in behind the defence more and wasn't so useless when played on the wing. If he was a 25 goals a season striker he'd be close to world class.

No he didn't. Rangnick was scolding the surroundings of Keita and Forsberg, i.e. their agents , but he specifically mentioned the players themselves are not the issue.

He said specifically 'their heads have been turned'. If that's not an admission they want out and an issue what is ?

In fairness, I'd be close to world class as well, if I scored 25 goals a season in the BPL.

I didn't mean in the league per se. But let's just say 20 in all competitions. I think it'd still hold.

There's plenty of strikers who score 20+ I wouldn't class as being near that category. his tallies of 11 and 12 are not what you want from your central striker, 'false 9' or not. Firmino brings so much to the players around him though.

You have to be careful when you quote people, because when you misquote, it can get a totally different connotations or meaning...Rangnick did not say that 'their heads have been turned'.
He said:'There should be someone who points them (the players) into the right direction. The boys themselves are not the problem here. It is their surroundings.'
and 'A whole village in Guinea or somebody from their entourage tells the players why they must do something right away. I can't blame the players.'

christ.

Poor players - If not for that african village back home full of villagers who don't understand the patience needed in a place like sophisticated Leipzeig, they would have no problems.
