Liverpool - 2017/18

Yeah apparently Keita and his entourage weren't exactly pleased with his comments. They were proper bullshit as well, it's pretty much clear as day he wants to leave them for Liverpool.

So coutinho is ready to take a paycut to join barcelona. 100 million euros should do it.

@Rafateria Do you think the reports of Barca having bid for Coutinho are untrue or do you think they're bidding without having contacted Coutinho first to know whether he wants to move?

I think Coutinho is up for the move - I am not sure how much he will force it.

I think unless barca are willing to pay in the region of €150m there will be no deal this summer.

Exactly. No one knows how desperately he wants the move but to say he doesn't even want it even though there are bids from Barca is just burying your head in the sand. No club is daft enough to get into prolonged negotiations without contacting the player first and confirming he wants the move.

Well if they have contacted him that's a) tapping up and b) would go contrary to Coutinho's own comments on Liverpool. I think it's Barca using the Spanish media (as both RM and BArca do) to prepare the ground ready for a bid. How receptive Liverpool / Coutinho seem to be wil determine if any actual bid is made. That's my take - could be wrong ! I think he'l stay for another year or two (depending on how we do). No doubt Barca / RM are a dream for most South Americans though.

Basically no bid made yet is your take on it. Can't see how that's true but okay. Atleast that's still possible unlike believing they'd bid without speaking to Coutinho first. Oh and yes, that's tapping up if you go by the exact definition but it's the norm, no one cares because everyone has to do it to not waste time in the market. Imagine spending a month in negotiations, coming to an agreement with the club only to be told by the player that he's not interested in the move.

I think Coutinho will go to Barca. They want him, he wants to go, it's as simple as that. Klopp's always banging on about not wanting players who don't want to play for the club so I can't see him begging PC to stay.

Klopp talks a lot of shit when it suits him incase you haven't noticed.

I think we will park at "if they come back in next year, you can go for 100m".

No bid yet but undoubtedly Coutinho wants to leave.

The very first thing club's do is see if the player wants to go otherwise negotiations on a price are a waste of time.

He wants out.

Liverpool need to sort this quickly. They need to get a replacement in as they have the CL qualifier in 18 days.

No way Countiho is going to risk being cup tied by playing.

Agree. In my opinion, if a player doesn't come out with an official statement saying he doesn't want to move to x club then he is ready for the move. Also the choice between Barca and Liverpool is a no brainier really.

No we don't, we need to make it clear to him that he won't be sold this Summer, which is what I think we'll be doing.

Yes, he probably wants to move to Barcelona, but 95% of the South American players wants that dream transfer. He seemingly isn't that desperate to cause a fuss about it or throw a row, nor speak about it publicly. He respects the staff, fans, club and city a lot which is why I don't think he'll cause an uproar if we keep him one more season and sell him afterwards if nothing changes.

There's no bid for him yet.

That's when it will get very messy, excuse the pun, and you will see just what Coutinho really wants.

We've turned down a £72m bid, whilst adding he's not for sale.

If you want to believe those reports then fine, I don't :)

It's hard to know what to believe but I would say there's no smoke without fire.

It seems certain Coutinho wants to leave and has had his head turned. Too many outlets reporting it. If a bid has already officially come in then it's even worse than I thought.

Nobody in their right mind would pay 150m for Coutinho. He is good but not that good. Yet I don't see why Liverpool would allow him to leave for a price that Barca is willing to pay. Anything but him staying at least one more year would be a huge surprise.

This.

Celtic had no forwards and only drew at home in first leg. Not looking good for them
Though TBH they battered them it seems. I can't see Celtic not scoring away from home, I'd still be very surprised if they didn't make it through this round.

Yeah, agree with everything there.

Hard to disagree with this. Staying another year here as a guaranteed starter will also help strengthen his WC spot for 2018.

Cou doesn't seem like the kinda player to kick up a fuss, and if he does move on next year, I'll really enjoy watching him playing for Barca :D Just can't see it this year.

Yeah, I seriously don't see Liverpool selling Coutinho without insane money being involved. Specially, when they themselves are the victims of this transfer money madness.

Coutinho/Barca should have sown the seeds in December for it to have happened this summer.

PS: All this if he doesn't go and bite Klopp in the arm and then is hounded out by the media for a cut-price deal. That would be funny.

How much do Liverpool fans honestly value Coutinho at? I'd say anything over £60m is a good deal.

£60m wouldn't buy us a replacement. Cou is also on contract until 2022, so no, I'd not sell him for £60m. I'd say £75-80m is probably about right, but I'd not sell him even at that price because of the contract situation.

Honest question - what would Man Utd fans value him at if he was at Man Utd?

Taking the biased glasses off, and in today's market, he is definitely worth more than the £60m. He signed a 5 year contract not long ago, is 25 years old and has the technical skills required to succeed at Barcelona. He will get better. Exactly how much is he worth? - it's basically what a team is willing to pay to get him.

Example: is Keita worth the mentioned price? No. But he is if LFC are willing to pay that much for him. Is Walker worth the price City paid? No. But he is now since City were willing to pay.
