Liverpool - 2017/18

Ah it's been deleted. Pity. Some lad basically said Le T. was being a hypocrite since he left his wife and daughter for a teenage girl. Funny as feck, Le T. totally owned.

Safe to say you don't know what hypocrite means, which is absolutely shocking with you being a scouser and all.

Bless you! That's not how it works.

Didn't know they bought Robertson. He is a good LB is he returned to the level he was 2 years ago.

Haven't actually seen that much of him, be interesting to see whether he gets an early chance to be first choice.
I suspect Milner may still be and still no new bids for Moreno.

It's Clyne that needs to worry. Milner would do just as well on the right.

Well Keita is putting in the work. Might have wrecked Diego Demme´s knee with a revenge foul during a practice session. On the other hand they might be a central/defensive midfielder short now.

Robertson is a good signing. Actually having a left back will definitely improve them. That said, Liverpool are having a quiet window this summer.

We have brought in 3 and sold 2. But we do need to sort the CM and CB positions out.

To be fair it was always going to be less frantic than last summer's, fewer departures and fewer arrivals.

I think it's a good thing from your perspective. That said, unless you improve at centre half then I think you're still going to be vulnerable. Going forward, however, you're in a great place.

I agree, centre half area is a real concern, not helped last season by Matip and Lovren being injured a fair bit, but yes clearly we need to strengthen there.
But we also need to protect the defence better too.
I guess that wasn't helped by Henderson being injured for so long.

We do concede far too many goals though you are right.

Clyne offers solidity that we haven't had for years at RB. I'm surprised he receives so much criticism from our fans.

I hope Liverpool are able to tie up a few deals soon. Else, they are opening themselves for an assault from Everton, who suddenly seem like a solid team.

Also, if Coutinho's head is turned (although there are no indications of that yet), it may be another difficult season for them. He is their talisman, and without him in the team, they are definitely going to lose a lot of creativity and some important goals.

Still 5 weeks to go before the window closes. Seems our owners are confident enough to back Klopp with big money, which is obviously a good thing from our point of view. I don't think we'll see us spending just for spending sake though. For pretty much most of the 2nd half of last season we were without Henderson & Mane, so having those 2 back is big boost. & our 3 signings to date will bring more quality to the squad. I think we'll add at least one major signing before the end of August, which on paper at least, will give us a fighting chance for next season.

He's solid but his ability and decision making on the ball in attacking positions is usually poor, which is a big problem in Liverpool's system.

I think 'solid' is probably the best way to describe Clyne. Unfortunately though, the further up the pitch he goes the less impact he has on the game. Good player to have if you're looking at keeping it tight. Not so good if you're chasing a game.

He's the anti-Glenn Johnson. Merge the two of them together and you might actually have a good first choice RB.

He's the English Darmian. Useless in the final third.
I agree. I've never seen a full back get forward as much as Clyne does whilst managing to produce so little in the final third.

I agree, at last we have a RB that can actually defend to a decent degree. People seem to have short memories of Glen Johnson's defending abilities or even Moreno until we got him out of the team with the moaning.

Of course it was actually his shite defending that got him out of the team, not the moaning

He's been figured out. He's always there to support in attack and teams are more than happy to let him be the one with the ball. He's fine defensively and in the buildup deeper on the pitch, but I don't think he fits in too well with what klopp demands from his fullbacks.

I remember them - Johnson was streets ahead of Clyne for a good many years. He lost out because his attacking play dropped off a cliff at some point.

Moreno is not really that good in any area of the pitch. Low-hanging fruit to compare with him.

I think Finnan is a better comparison for the unspectacular steady eddie fullback. But he was also far better in the final third than Clyne.

Milner is first choice for sure. Not sure about Clyne, instead.

No changes from Liverpool's perspective. LFC still pursuing Keita and no decision to "pull out." Keita's agent going to Austria to meet Leipzig officials. Transfer Request a possibility. Liverpool now using journalist sources - Joyce, Bascombe to give out conflicting reports. 're Virgil van Dijk, not taken to 25-man Southampton tour.

Don't forget the three that were missing almost all season through injury too - not first teamers by any stretch of the imagination but certainly adding to squad depth in attack, midfield and defence: Ings, Gomez and Grujic.
