Liverpool - 2017/18

Typical case of someone grasping for any desperate straw offered by some BS twitter accs.

Here's the full excerpt of what Mateschitz told Sport Bild

Furthermore, Mateschitz told of a mega offering for Nay Keita, which supposedly came from Liverpool. "Lately, we received a 75m € offer for Naby Keita. No way", said Meteschitz. He's still on a contract, and he will fulfil it.

"Selling him would not just be a vote of mistrust towards our fanbase, it would also send a wrong message to our other players like Timo Werner who is also sought after", Mateschitz reckoned.

It ain't gonna happen.

Sir Alex Ferguson on selling Christiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid

"You don't think we'd get into a contract with that mob, do you? Jesus Christ. I wouldn't sell them a virus."

"I've had a couple of meetings with the Glazers. Their attitude is, 'to hell with them'. They'd sit a player in the stand, I'm telling you, absolutely no doubt about it, just to prove a point. Not to give in to these people. They've got balls, I can tell you. I've been delighted with them in that respect."

"We just have to ignore it. If we worry about what Real Madrid have to say we are not concentrating on our own publicity and the programme of difficult games we have got coming up.
"Sometimes they create an angry situation and sometimes I get really annoyed with them. But we know their game. I think we should play ours and ignore them."

Remind me how that 'Ronaldo to Real Madrid' scenario ended, will you...?

he said all that having already agreed to let Ronaldo leave after that extra year

never understood why he was so strong on the statement - maybe a threat to Madrid for whatever reason

Christ, you guys like to believe ITKs don't you?

It might be an attempt at getting him to agree on a move next year, when the RC becomes active. As others have outlined, he's going to be on the CL stage this year. If he impresses there, a large number of clubs will be in for him, some of them bigger than yours. A club like Barca would really do well with him.
Trying to secure him before the big guns come knocking might be your only chance.

Oh I totally agree with you. It's either now or probably never. Everything seems to be pointing towards no deal yet the club still gives the impression that they think there is a deal to be done. It's the same with VVD. If it came down to a choice of either one or the other I would want VVD but suspect we will end up with neither, just egg on our face and a good/bad roasting on here

Indeed that is more and more the conclusion I'm arriving at. Whilst we are still trying to get RBL to relent and sell him to us this Summer we are also looking to next Summer and trying to actually secure him now, one way or another (not sure how that could happen though) to pre-empt moves by other clubs next year. It wouldn't surprise me as Klopp has been quite clear that he will not panic buy and if it takes a season more to get his target then he's prepared to muddle through with what he's got until then (Robertson - Sessegnon is a possible example of that, or it could be that Robertson was always the backup in case Sessegnon didn't happen).

You're missing the important caveat, a full season between Fergie's message and Ronaldo's move;)
And doesn't it worry you in the slightest, that the man himself now confirmed what his officials have been saying all day long? You can lay your "overruled by higher ranks" to bed now.

It's quite easy to actually read up on the context of what he said and what he told Ronaldo in the meeting at Quieroz's house. It's easily available on the net. That is if you're genuinely interested in the topic, I'd you're just posting shite for the sake of it, carry on.

Tidy goal from Solanke today.

Hopefully he'll do really well and come back home. Kinda like Chalobah at Watford, prove yourself at a lower placed side and then maybe make the step back up.

Final post before my Midnight deadline. I feel like Cinderella on here :D

Naby Keita's agent is in Hong Kong to discuss his client's transfer to Liverpool. The discussions could lead to Keita handing over a transfer request to force Leipzig's hands on the matter. Liverpool's £66.5M bid has literally split the board down the line. The issue is more to do with the structure of the payments and a small matter of Keita's bonus - which Leipzig wants it to be absorbed in the terms.

For a club that "under no circumstances" will sell Keita, Leipzig has been very vocal in the media (even though not a single words has been uttered on the transfer by Liverpool officials). Tin hat on for the inevitable abuse from the usual suspects, but as long as a written apology is posted by those who are the naysayers once Keita is a red, then we can all be friends ;)

Owen does not come across as the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Its no-thing. We've not thought of him as one of us since he forced his move out for £8m + Nunez. That slap across the face pretty much signed the divorce papers. Even acting as our ambassador is meaningless to us. Honestly, I forgot (again) he was until I read the post above. I'm sure I will forget again very soon.

Is Chalobah still a Chelsea player? :O Is Ake? Is Loftus-Cheek? Yeah I'm sure after some 'midtable' football at Liverpool he'll want to shoot for legendary status back at Chelsea.

I can't believe you gave him a bite. :nono:

Owen does have a few devotees on here, isn't it? The St Etienne goal & scoring vs. City that blinds them to him being (I don't think he's 'quite right' actually - the Southall GK vid is very strange) a complete idiot.

Who are your other legendary LFCers but wrong 'uns?

Souness obvs, Thommo & Aldridge ought to be up there for being the utterest of bellends, McManaman naffed off for nothing didn't he?

Lawrenson is considered disloyal isn't he? For dubious commentary & predictions.

The fact Owen played for United and also the manner of his departure to Real Madrid didn't go down that well either will always mean many LFC fans have a bit of a dislike for him.
I prefer to remember the likes of the cup final against Arsenal and many more good moments.

To be honest most of the ex players I don't tend to listen too much to them. Souness I think talks a lot of sense and I used to listen to Alrdidge on Radio City on the way home from the match, and agreed with a lot of what he said. They no longer broadcast an after match phone in now.

I don't really care what other fans think of them, sure a lot are on TV but like I say I don't listen to most of them anyway.

You listen to Aldridge? Jesus come on man. He's one of the most deluded and biased pundits going!

Owen still has a private box at OT.

Souness obviously, for his Sun interview whilst dragging the club down more than anyone before or since. I think he's been trying to make amends ever since though.

I don't really fault McManaman. We were trying to sell him to barca the year before.

Owen is an utter bell though.

Okay well don't listen then, you have a choice!
Far too much bed wetting about what ex players say or don't say, I couldn't care less what they talk about most of the time.

BigSky believes the media when published stories support his points:
Someone also stated that Liverpool supporters were making up stories re Manchester City and Chelsea also in the running for van Dijk. Guys, it's common knowledge in the media that they had also approached Southampton for the Dutch CB.

BigSky scoffs at sheeple that believe the media when published stories don't support his points:
There are some people who know fcuk all about what is going on and instead get swayed by the mainstream media, and there are a very few who are fortunate enough to have access to "someone" directly involved in the "goings on" over a transfer.

You are just reliant upon information in the mainstream media (including various football journals) You are totally reliant on various quotes from RBL officials as IF it was God's words in the Bible. But with all due respect, you have absolutely nothing from "sources" that are actively involved in the flow of information.

You might feel like Cinderella but with all this ITK rubbish you sound like Pinocchio.

I don't. Thanks for reminding that.

This is a forum where everything is discussed, including which pundit talks shit. You don't care? Fine, there are many who do. (I don't though as they are so much out of touch with the modern game)

"Could", eh? Seems your Twitter BS sources are finally preparing the big backtrack:lol:

Who's that board? Srsly.

Flatout lie. There are several statements from Klopp about the issue. But then, of course you only perceive what fits your agenda. There's no need to be friends, as you are goner here soon anyway.

Not so much two summer's worth as much as the funds being available due to a positive net spend last year along with the TV deal and CL in conjunction with just generally spending very little over the last couple years. The money is there for a splurge this summer. it won't be every summer but we've worked our way in to this position and if we get it right we won't need much more than 2-3 next summer if that.
It's just about FSG putting the money down and getting deals over the line . It'll be a spectacular feck up and things will get ugly if they don't.

I do think you have a bit of money to spend this year, but im pretty sure that in your accounts you posted a loss for the years previous despite a positive net spend on transfers. Granted this was largely due to your stadium expansion, but its still a loss. You have not been accumulating the money over a couple of summers.

Klopp has laid the foundations and got you champions league footy, so if FSG dont spend this summer they are never going to IMO.

New bid of Euro 80M in for Keita after RBL shifted agreed goalposts twice. They want a 2-payment structure (LFC offering 3-stage payment)

Klopp was asked a question and he responded without even mentioning either Keita or van Dijk. The point I made is that Liverpool has NOT been leaking to press. Leipzig has been all over the press and media. For someone who's calling himself 2ndTouch, you are struggling with your 3rd and 4th touches mate. :DIn other words, try and read the post before jumping in with both feet. And try not to hang on to my every word without context and pull me up on it. This pedantic approach is not suitable for football, let alone £multi-million transfers, there's a good boy. :)

Your name will be changed to BigLie if we don't sign Keita.

I get the impression RBL defo want to sell him - not because they don't want him but because anything above £50m is a ridiculously good deal - £80m is just obscene. I think they've played their hand brilliantly, as long as they now accept and pretend they're not happy to cash in.

If LPool have that kind of transfer kitty - I'm surprised they haven't been linked to more top players.

So from deal agreed in principle but only the payment structure was the stumbling block to RBL have shifted goal posts.

Yeah their central midfield looks a bit thin when you take into account how often Henderson is injured.

1. Deal agreed in principle.
2. Significantly higher new bid made.
3. ??
4. Profit
