Firstly, apologies for the late response to points put to me, but I have restricted activities as I joined recently. Only 3 posts per day!! No two transfers are the same. Why do you think the transfer window stretches from July 1st to August 31st? When a team is reluctant to sell, it makes it harder for a buying club to tempt/negotiate the sale of that player. What Southampton and Leipzig get from this is approximately £65M each. Neither clubs are Manchester City or Chelsea that they can decline such an amount, especially when both players concerned want to leave. No club wants to keep disgruntled players. Southampton has already bought Bednarek as their new CB.
Secondly, I'm not relying on any media outlets for my information. I am just relaying what I've been told. Football has changed dramatically when they used to dictate to the players. Players have the ultimate powers these days. No manager wants a situation when a key player is not motivated to play when his "dream" has been shattered. I am not implying that Keita falls in that category, but regardless of how rich a club is, every player has a price. Why did Manchester United - the richest club in the world, allow the sale of Ronaldo when even your esteemed manager stated that he wouldn't "sell a virus to Madrid?" There's also a difference between how much Forsberg is and how much Keita is worth. Money talks for every player. But, only time will tell re Keita especially, and either myself or Nostradamus will get pie in the face. Someone also stated that Liverpool supporters were making up stories re Manchester City and Chelsea also in the running for van Dijk. Guys, it's common knowledge in the media that they had also approached Southampton for the Dutch CB.
