Liverpool - 2017/18

After watching that toothless shit-show from your attack, can't help but feel having Coutinho in there would have been better than Oxlaids.

But what do I know :smirk:

Coutinho has played in numerous games at Old Trafford to zero impact. He would have shit his pants as much as Ox, or Salah or anyone. But we all know that what you know is pretty little. :smirk:

You were very cocky this morning.

Hope you enjoyed watching Liverpool lose again at Old Trafford.

Oh Dumbstar. You're a glutton for punishment I'll give you that.

As for Liverpool. Different manager, different players, same old really - usually losing at Old Trafford, flattering to deceive.

The Spurs of the North West.

Hopefully we're not the Sevilla of England and they can continue my cockiness.

You keep saying Coutinho wasn't your most important player. Fair enough. On current form Salah has been much more important. Mane maybe as well. But he was in your top 3-4 players. Never good to lose on of those mid season.

Funny I seem to call it spot on LFC most of the time. :D

Midfield of Oxlaids, Milner and Can is amongst the worst LFC midfields that's come to Old Trafford in memory. Coutinho at least is a footballer.

What happened to your 40 million bargain Oxlade Chamberlain

Couple good games and some shite ones like when he was Arsenal? Looked brain-dead out there.

Coutinho would’ve played in the front three instead of Mane so it’s a meaningless discussion. We do need to add something to our midfield for games like today but Coutinho isn’t the answer.

I thought Mourinho got it spot on today and there’s no shame in losing against a side with such a strong home record. It says a lot that only City have won there in the league over the last two seasons.

Hopefully we’ll learn from it and improve as we did after losing to Spurs.

Utd deserved to win a bit more than us today. They prepared well, targeted our weak spots and parked the bus when needed. Ugly win, but can't say it was not deserved.
Shows exactly why Lovren should not play anymore as well, he was jogging to his box after losing header to Lukaku in the first goal and lost the duel again for the second.
Trent is a prospect but he's raw.
As for the rest - there was a handball in the box, we should have had a penalty. But other than that, we still can't beat a well organised bus.

Now we're in a real fight for the CL.

Pretty fair although don't think United deserved to win a 'bit' more. Thought it was pretty comfortable and Liverpool wouldn't have scored if we played another 90. DDG didn't have a save to make and Mata should have put is 3-0 up before HT.

United Liverpool games are hardly ever pretty but the best team won today and most of all deserved it.

No doubt, Chelsea will start gaining momentum in the league again, and they are rarely bottlers when their players have their mind set on the job, so I wouldn't bet against them storming to Top 4. But I think you are safe, you just have too much firepower in attack to drop out of top 4. A lot will depend on whether Spurs are demoralized by the CL exit or not, they are sitting pretty in 3rd if they beat Bournemouth, but a draw or loss will see Chelsea close the gap with them.

He did and he didn't.

The best way counter to Klopp's aggressive attacking system is to sit deep, flood the midfield and wait for the inevitable chance to counter. Fortunately, this has been Jose's default strategy from day 1 (especially against top 4 sides) so it wasn't so much Jose getting it spot on, rather Klopp playing in to his hands by using his own default strategy. I mean it wasn't as if Jose adjusted the system to suit this particular encounter.

The real match winner was Lukaku, though. He was a consistent outlet throughout the game - less so in the second half after Jose had us shut up shop entirely. He made both VVD and Lovren look average on numerous occasions, he was hugely influential in both our goals and the Mata chance. Clearly the best player on the park today.

I felt confident we would win after 10 minutes gametime.

Also why did Klopp persist with a strategy that clearly favoured United for the entirety of the game. Does he not possess a backup gameplan in his locker should his default system fall flat?

Anyone know if Alexander-Arnold made it back from the hot dog stand?

Question for the United fans. What did you think of Andy Robertson based on what you saw today?

Not much based on today but I wouldn't hold it against him. Not sure why Klopp had you lot playing so narrow, it played right into our hands. Any other time I've seen him this season he's looked really good though.

I don't even think VVD was involved once in an aerial challenge with Lukaku, which was weird. Agree that Lukaku was man of the match.

Question for the United fans. What did you think of Andy Robertson based on what you saw today?
You can tell he likes to get forward. Put in some dangerous deliveries and certainly has an engine on him. There was always a bit of buzz around him and thought it strange he wasn't getting a look in for you lot earlier in the season. Thought he had talent but I'll admit I didn't think he would have the impact that he's had so far.

His pace is his weapon, but facing an equal (or maybe faster) opponent he had problems. I see people raving about his crossing, but dint see one. I think he is like Luke shaw before he got injured, positionaly a lil suspect, a little too dependent on pace but has good mix of attributes to make it. I hope he likes Pies like shaw and grows some moobs.

He is the Joe Allen of the left back position. Ok but nothing special.

In a couple of seasons he will go back to a midtable club.

Just saw he is 24, i thought he was 18-19. Think he might be close to his peak then.

Not a United fan but I rate Robertson highly (not going on just the one game). I said in the summer that once he settles in at Liverpool he has the ability to become one of the best LB's in the prem, and I still stand by that. Great player.

They looked very poor yesterday, not a patch on the Chelsea side that came to OT a couple of weeks ago

I think what’s obvious is that none of the front three have much variety in their game. Coutinho was on another level and could pull something out of thin air but these three, good as they are, seem to need spaces to exploit to be at their best

It was noticeable yesterday how many times they gave the ball away cheaply. I think their whole game is based around pinching it up the pitch and exploiting the space. If you take away the opportunity for them to nick it and get compact behind the ball when defending they look short of ideas

We had a poor game away from home against the second-placed team, nothing to see here really. I'm sure we'll bounce back, it was only our fourth defeat in 30 league games. We're in the top four and in the CL quarters, literally every Liverpool fan would've signed for that before the start of the season.

Utd deserved to win yesterday.

Love that scouse optimism.

Makes you wonder how we’ve managed 60 points from 30 games. It’s so easy to beat us based on one game of football yesterday.

Question for the United fans. What did you think of Andy Robertson based on what you saw today?
He was quiet because we targeted the TAA side of the pitch more. He's in for Moreno, correct? I would definitely think an improvement over Moreno if so. Probably has a bright future but might want to provide some quality to challenge him and push him on, like with Shaw/Young now.
