Liverpool - 2017/18

You guys finished below Liverpool lasy year as well, so you shouldn't be surprised.

True that.

The "finishing above United" trophy was well recieved on Merseyside I hear. Given that your lot haven't won a league title in 30+ years, or much else for that matter, I'd imagine the celebrations went on through the night and then some.

How is the Alternative League Table fairing at present, Liverpool still 17 points clear?

Quality dig's here from Man Utd fans but that is to be expected. It's quite clear that Liverpool have made huge progress under Jurgen Klopp, who has brought fantastic football to not only Anfield but to the Premier League. In comparison to Man Utd who are play very defensive "boring" football. Ask any neutral who they would prefer to watch.

Look at Liverpool's squad depth in comparison to before Kloop took over. Again a sign of progress.

Klopp also took Liverpool to two finals in his first season, yes we didnt win anything but you also have to be lucky in the right situations to win trophies unless you are Barcelona or Real Madrid. Liverpool weren't lucky enough at the right times. For example look at the teams Man Utd faced to win the Europa cup, then look at the teams Liverpool faced in the year we reached the final. I doubt Man Utd would have won the Europa cup if they faced the teams Liverpool did.

Also, it takes time to build a successful team even nowadays. It took Alex F around 5 years to just even win an FA cup and he rightly is now a Utd legend. So let's not judge too quickly, although I know it's difficult in this modern era.

Finally, let's be happy that year on year the Liverpool team have progressed in the right way. 2nd in the table as of today, we arent going to win but still it's progress.

Brendan Rodgers has a better record than Klopp.

not surprised to hear they've been supporting a racist again.

The dippers of Scouseville overtaking us in the league table is an ungodly transgression that will not go unpunished. I have every confidence that Jose will see to it that the players understand the gravity of the situation. The prospect of finishing below Liverpool should be more than enough incentive for the players to raise their respective games.

Given the current state of affairs regards the league table, anything less than a worthy performance tomorrow will see unrest amongst the fanbase and rightly so.

Not only fans but players as well, if Mourinho tried to go with a conservative approach, he will hurt the confidence of players as well as fans. Especially if UTD loses, even draw won't be a good result, considering you guys have to face Liverpool next, for Mourinho style to work, he needs leverage(point or two lead) over us. Not taking a dig at UTD but if Liverpool is very dangerous if opposition tries to attack them.

Disagree about the squad depth point - for me an error Liverpool are still lacking. Lallana and Ox are decent players but still a drop-off from Salah and Mane, whilst your options behind Firmino are Ings & Solanke at present.

Outside of that, you could argue that the rest of your squad isn't good enough in terms of starters let alone the depth. Still need a GK, probably better FB's or certainly more options, midfield there are a few choices but they're all average apart from maybe Can. And CB still needs more investment even despite Van Dijk.

As per your overall post though - I agree. Klopp is a fecking delusional nutcase sometimes and definitely flawed, but he's turned Liverpool in to arguably one of the most dangerous teams in Europe going forward and you're now 2nd in the league which speaks for the improvement.

Do Liverpool fans go to some pre Red Cafe finishing school where they learn to reel off all the scouse cliches of the day?

I swear we just get identikit shit posters reeling off the same garbage. Like Rafateria has decided that 100 posts a day is trying too hard and has set up a series of satellite accounts to spread the gospel.

“We play pwetty football, it doesn’t matter if we don’t win trophies”

“Klopp took us to finals, it doesn’t matter that we lost”

“Man United had an easier Europa League run than us, not fair!”

“It took Ferguson 5 years to win anything therefore every unsuccessful Liverpool manager is potentially the next Ferguson”

Change the record you boring weirdos. If you’re going to come RedCafe, bring something interesting and different. Or at least be funny.

Very close then and Klopp has spent a fortune.
So did Rodgers. Roughly £100 million after Suarez left. When you consider how the market has inflated since Rodgers was Liverpool manager, they’ve probably spent similar amounts.

As much as it annoys me mane, salah and firmino are the best front 3 in Europe at the moment and by some distance too. The chemistry and general quality they have is ridiculous, they Seem to complement each other perfectly.

Wouldn’t take anyone else over them 3.

So all this big talk about what Klopp has done for the club is complete nonsense. Youre hardly better off than when Rodgers was south of the border.

Nice to see the racists of Anfield came together to abuse Evra this afternoon by the way. Very classy as always.

Don’t think that there are many grounds where players of, or former players of, rival Clubs will not get an ear full. That includes Old Trafford too so save the high moral ground. Its a pity as no one deserves to be booed, not Évra at Anfield, not Fowler at Old Trafford, but that is the average football fan for you.

Yeah because it's just the booing that's the problem.

I disagree about needing better FB's. For our system and the way we play, Trent and Robertson are perfect. Both are intelligent, bundles of energy and have killer delivery. I think we need someone to back up Firmino, a GK, a CB and most importantly a proper DM. But our system generally brings the best out of even average players.

It's not the moral high ground. It's fact.

You got hear 'you're a lying bastard' ringing out around Anfield today. Directed at none other than victim of racism Pat Evra.

Disgusting.

Sad. And I’ve just seen that idiot Riise’s tweet.

Heartbreaking that. It's not just a few either singing it.

And that, ladies and gentlemen is why Liverpool and their fans will always be cnuts.

Evra has more silverwear than anyone on the pitch and Klopp and his staff. Legend.

I watched it on streaming so I didn’t hear chants only the booing. Okay, my apologies on that, its not right but disgusting its not. Disgusting is rival fans mocking Hillsborough 89 and Munich ‘58.
Still not acceptable though.

Course it's disgusting. The man was a victim of racist abuse and your fans seem to think it's acceptable to call him a lying bastard.

No wonder things like that don't get reported as people lose confidence and sometimes even blame themselves. Your fans are a classy bunch.

The squad is in better shape and we’re (probably) less reliant on one player. We nose dived when Suarez left. Coutinho left and so far we’re no worse off (even though Suarez was obviously a much better player when he left than Coutinho was, but they were both what many would call our best players at the time). We’re also regularly making several changes to the starting XI and don’t seem to be suffering much for it. We could never make more than one or two changes to the side in 13/14, and if we did we struggled.

To be fair Rodgers lost Sturridge to injuries as well but Klopp’s signings have done better than Rodgers’ did, and some of the latter’s signings have been better under Klopp. Can, Firmino, Lallana and even Lovren have performed better under Klopp than they ever did under Rodgers.

Do you think Liverpool of 2012-2015 was better than the Liverpool of 2015-2018?

And win nothing

Is that all you are going to grasp on to? Yeah we play shit, boring football but at least we won the EL and EFL cup. I personally don't give a feck about the EL or EFL cup. Mourinho's football is taking you no where long term. He won't win the CL/PL as he isn't brave enough. He shits his pants whenever he plays a decent side. Some of your fans still talk of Mourinho as this master tactician, but those days are long gone. He can't even get the best out of somebody like Pogba or even Martial. We hired Klopp with the idea of him making us a CL regular club again. United hired Mourinho to win the PL and/or CL and the truth is, he is miles away from being able to win either.

As I said to you already, its not right but you’re in no position to take the high moral ground on unacceptable or even disgusting issues as you like to term it. Sad but true for us all.
