Do Liverpool fans reckon Aubameyang would even be a good fit for the team in comparison to Firmino?
We would have like the fastest frontline in history with Salah, Mane and Auba.
There are good and bad things about Firmino. He solves a lot of problems in terms of bringing others into play, creating chances etc. I am sure the players around him love playing with him.
But he doesn't score enough for a centreforward. And tactically, he does too much of his work in front of the back four. The central striker position is rather loopsided when he plays.
Which meant that once Mane was out (and sturridge ever injured), we had no one who didn't do their best work in front of the backfour. That was a problem.
We're working towards a bit of an odd setup in that our topscorer is our no 10 and we are looking to our wingers to get in behind the defence and get into double figures. Basically, the expectation is that Salah and Mane will outscore Firmino.
I think a top class centreforward would be absolutely ace for us - we have creativity enough without firmino as it is, even if he brings plenty to the table in that regard.
On the other hand, if Firmino actually learns how to play as a striker and scores 20+ for us, he could become borderline world class. Henry showed that you can be a good goalscorer without being a "fox in the box".
