Liverpool - 2017/18

So we've signed Salah. VVD has announced his undying love for us. We're trying to tempt Mbappe to choose us as the stepping stone club up to Real Madrid and Aubemayang has now come into the picture. Not to mention Keita who we would have chased and probably got if Liepzig were even remotely open to selling.

And I was laughed at when we got knocked out of both cups in January and I boldly stated we had our eyes on the (main) prize: a top four finish. Winning the Mickey Mouse and finishing outside top 4 would have seen us looking at Redmond, Sigurdsson, Defoe and Maguire this summer. Wooh! We had a real risk of being left decades behind the other top 4/5 clubs had we failed top 4 last season.

You're celebrating being linked to players? Wtf

Mingolet better than Lloris, Cech and Romero

This is the guy Liverpool fans have wanted rid of for years.

You scraped top four as everyone else fecked up. Don't get delusions of grandeur.
Well done for shouting out without having read the thread. No surprise though.

Is there anything more glib than fans squabbling over prices?

1. It's not your money
2. The market is insane - nobody can really define "value" right now
3. The finer points of a deal aren't really public knowledge so actual payment is unclear
4. Stop being accountants
Agreed. Such a tiresome debate to have.

They were still better than us throughout the season, 2 second-rate trophies and the worlds worst unbeaten run doesn't really change that. Despite this, everyone on here talks down their chances while we're apparently going to be a force next season according to some on here.

They were the best of a bad bunch. United prioritised silverwear and succeeded.

Any Liverpool fan would absolutely snap your hand off to trade places.

Post this in every thread.

You have also said no thanks to Ronaldo on a platter, so you are surely up there with the Spanish giants.

I'd agree with all of that if it wasn't for the fact I can't stop remembering that we paid £35 million for Andy Carroll.

If there was a trophy for it then it would be Mickey Mouse. It does however qualify them to bid on the top players and is therefore more important and sought after around those parts.

Sought after and WON. Keep up.

 IF Leipzig would be open to sell Keita, then he would be a Bayern player by now..this rumor has been one of the biggest jokes of this transfer window.

This was the issue I was talking about with other Liverpool fan. If there no official confirmation then we could have argued whole day which sources to believe but Roma have published the numbers, it's shouldn't even be up for debate.
Yeah true end of the day mate most Liverpool fans are not going to be arsed, we've spent the better part of a decade on the outside looking in . and now we finally have a top manager and things going in the right direction. We all just want consistency at the top end of the table and to be able to look forward to a season with optimism rather than doom and gloom. 5 English clubs in the CL next season and I'm looking forward to it

just up to FSG now to deliver .

No point in discussing the Salah transfer fee, Roma is a stock exchange registered club so they have to be truthful in their reporting and have full disclosure.

What they say on the fee is absolute, anything else would be manipulating of the markets.

Not yet there aren't...

In previous seasons I would have agreed with you 100% but not this year, top 4 was a priority for us, not just because of CL qualification but more for the progress, we desperately needed to see significant progress this season after finishing 8th the season before, also for the quality of players we can hopefully attract, top 4 was our main priority at the beginning of the season and we achieved it, if we were a regular top 4 side but were struggling to get into top 4 last season then yes I would absolutely snap your hand off to trade places.

Just read page 9 and it's like the adult equivalent om my Da's harder then yours.

Football fans eh .

Thank God ! Looks like we're going to get a decent price for Moreno (our fee+salary) :

Liverpool have attracted suitors for the Spaniard, with Southampton and Real Sociedad apparently enquiring, while Napoli (£11m) and Swansea (£13m) have made offers.

The Serie A side's £11m bid was rejected by the Merseyside club as they hold out for £15m.

However, Liverpool could be tempted into accepting Swansea's proposal.

You've done well there, how much you pay for him?

I'm not getting carried away with players that we've been linked to as it only matters who's on the pitch at the start of the season.

That said, it's a massive change to see Liverpool linked with talent that even just 12 months ago, no one would have given us a hope of attracting. We're in a better position now than we have been at any point during FSG's ownership and I think they've finally realised that the only way to compete is to spend big.

There will be a few more incomings than just Salah and I'm looking forward to seeing our starting 11 in August

The difference finishing 4th and 5th makes in a season with 6 or 7 top managers in the league at the same time! One of our most important virtual cup wins in a long time.

That's assuming that we get the players in that will push us forward, and that we actually improve on the pitch next season.

There's still a lot of ifs and buts surrounding everyone at the moment.

We wouldn't have signed Salah (again) had we finished 5th. He wouldn't have sneezed on us if we offered to be his tissue.

You might be slightly overhyping who you've just signed.

I don't think he's a top signing. That's what makes this situation even worse. Do you see how important that top 4 was for us to keep on the coattails of relevance?

I think he'd have come regardless as you aren't competing with top teams unlike last time and you'd be massively increasing his wages.

Not sure how good the source was, but anyone think Liverpool would actually pay 70M for VVD?

I don't know about that amount but I think we would've paid £50 million for him. If he pushes for the move I still think we'll get it done.

Whilst I agree with what you're saying and really don't give a toss about prices, you have to see it from the other side of the fence also.

Some people see a teams transfer in a player for £60m and think that they could have strengthened multiple areas with two £30m signings.

Or say £32m is too much for Kante and splash £35m on Xhaka. I love arsenal

Do Liverpool fans reckon Aubameyang would even be a good fit for the team in comparison to Firmino?

Dear Liverpool fans, do you think you really need Chamberlain? Don't you think you already have similar players?
