Liverpool 2016/17 - Performance and chat thread.

I don't know how anyone can say that we played boring football yesterday.

Well, anyone not on a wind up anyway.

Gengen pressing is only effective against a team with high defensive line. Because when you win the ball up he pitch, there's still a lot of space to counterattack. Against teams that sit deep, there's nothing to attack.
It's also made worse because there's not enough players of genuine quality.

Liverpool are so funny. So much possession in the opposition half but can't score for toffee, and that defence

I still can't understand how they offered him a 6 year contract less than 6 months after he signed for them on a 3 year deal.

I'm not blaming Klopp for this, but no manager can expect to seriously contend for the title by raiding Southampton and signing players for 5m and Manninger unless you do a Leicester. They have spent a lot of money on very average players these past few years, the same mistakes we did under van Gaal and Moyes. Do they still employ their famous transfer committee system which is famous for bringing the likes of Andy Carroll?

Without bothering to look it up. The way Liverpool have three away games (due to Anfield works), does that mean they have a good run of consecutive home games too at some point?

So that is why they have three away games on the bounce. I just found it strange that it would be like that at the start of the season.

The german commentators use phrases like "surprising helpless", "doesn't look like a Klopp team".

Why isn't one of the best CM's on the continent in Can (as per Liverpool fans on here and RAWK) not starting?

My issue pre-season was they just haven't got much quality beyond a handful of players. Those players also aren't particularly consistent.

Perhaps they'll make another signing or two before the window ends.

Shades od LVGs United- all the possesion but nothing to capitalise, while conceeding with first chance created by opposition.

I assume they're back to being "still Brendan Rodgers' team" again?

Oh god, the smugness after the last week win's against Arsenal is gone now. It'll return after a week when they come back from their "holiday" after this result.

Lovely result. Burnley looked like they have such little in attack but still won with ease.

Oh dear. Riding high after beating Arsenal B team by 1 goal - brought straight back down to earth by the mighty Burnley!:lol::lol:

As I said here earlier in the week. That defence is god awful. Some commented to me that they will out score the opposition and everything is rosey. But as I and others have said, that's worth feck all in a tight game. These type of results. Are the ones you want to avoid usually - against one of the favourites for relegation

They'll get nowhere with a defence as average as that

Bingo. Or there is enough quality but we choose to field players that fundamentally can't play against that system (i.e. bad management).
