Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

Interesting (and sad) article on Balotelli.

He rejected big money bids for him in his first season. Agger has gotten progressively worse since then. I'm not arsed about the fee.

Agreed with regards to the last part (I don't think he's our best defender). He's one of the few players who actually loves the club and the city. He's as loyal as they come.

He rejected a bid last season too. Big money...arguably not, but still would have given us an extra £10m million if Rodgers really did feel he wasn't up to it. Instead we paid him big wages to a bench player for a season and lost out on a decent fee. Poor.

Couldnt he have gone to barca and city not long back? Insane really, what a waste if true.

I don't think a move to City ever interested him.

Yeah, as Barney said I doubt he'd have joined City. Barcelona certainly though.

Another thing - are you not concerned that Rodgers has seemingly bought another big money centre back this summer with the intention of replacing his last one, playing Skrtel instead? As I said, I think Rodgers' centre back purchases/sales have been confusing (if I'm being kind).

Agger is heading back to Brondby for £3m according to the Echo and Times. Not arsed about the fee as long as he's getting the move that he wants (and I know that's a stupid way to do business).
Agger going for £3M? He must have a fitness issue.

A Madrid team currently containing the best player in the world will crumble because they're playing at Anfield? I think they would have been more worried about going to the Allianz last year than Anfield this year, they've probably been gutted about your absence from the CL since 09 and couldn't wait to come back so they could lose to mighty Liverpool lead by the demi-god Gerrard.

The unfolding last season was painful enough. I was hoping he'd stay so that he was there when the other defenders inevitably mess up.
You still have real issues at the back IMO, I envy you Mario though, we should have bought him when we had the chance.

From being linked with Barcelona to a move to Brondby? Strange. Don't think Rodgers handled the Agger thing that well.

Looks like Agger is off. To Brondby of all places. 3 fecking million, complete joke decision to let him go. If it was up to me he'd start every game when fit.
He's on £120k a week so I guess that's the reason for the reduced fee - he also said there is nowhere else he wants to go despite having offers.

Surely alarm bells will start ringing at Anfield if they get turned over at White Hart Lane Sunday..

Life without Suarez isn't easy. Especially when the back four looks as fragile as United's.

Bizarre from Rodgers in my opinion. I actually quite rate Agger and thinks he definitely better and less of a liability than Skrtel and Sahko.

Frankly my dear, I'd rather have a limping Agger than an dead average Louvren, a brainless Sahko and a braindead Skrtel.
Better check the stats above then. The important ones being interceptions / blocks & clearances / defensive errors / tackles won/lost.

Stats like that are pretty wank though. Agger's 20 games might be against top four teams while Sakho filled in when you played shit teams.

I hate how we're using stats now like they're the be all and end all, can we not just watch with our eyes.

Why the focus on individual stats, @Rafateria?

Over the last 2 seasons we've kept 6 clean sheets in the 38 games Agger didn't start, and we've kept 27 clean sheets in the 57 games he did start.

Which is more important? The effect he has on the team for me. The clean sheets with and without him speak volumes.

Or it could be vice versa ! Agger's feck ups are well documented and he was often found out of position. I'm afraid it's a case of the absence makes the heart grow fonder. I'd still prefer him over Toure but there is no way he'd want to stay and sit on the bench match after match. A real Anfield hero though, 8.5 yrs and loved the city and the club through and through. Deserves to have a testimonial.

Yeah it's fair enough I actually think it's obvious Agger is past his best, but I don't know if that graph really proves it.

I suppose you might as well let him go, but I really don't rate Sakho that highly.

Often found out of position? Now you're just doing a hatchet job on a player because he's leaving. He has flaws but positioning isn't one of them.

You want to ignore them because you really rate Agger - I get that. However you can't just pick out the clean sheets and point to that as the be all and end all. The stats give you a clear picture of where his strengths and weaknesses lie. I would also go as far as saying that his constant string of injuries is what is responsible for his decline. There is no turning back the clock and his time has come and gone.

Agree that the injuries have caused a decline, just think it's been exaggerated by Liverpool fans who want to believe Rodgers has made the right call on Agger despite all the evidence with our team to the contrary.

Just as you can tell me to look at individual stats, you can't ignore the team stats. Agger has better composure than any of our other centre backs, someone which is needed when Mignolet and Skrtel especially lose their heads so easily.

Yeah Liverpool we're shit but you might not be much better!

This lot have made me laugh this season. We know we are struggling and are work in progress post SAF.

They seem to be ignoring the fact that off the back of their best season in years they look fragile and vulnerable in the same places they did last season minus their best attacking player. Not much progress there in my opinion.

They seem keen to go on about what money we have spent yet Lovren as a 20m+ defender looks laughable to me!

Tomorrow will be Rodgers’ 100th game in charge of Liverpool. He has won 55 and drawn 21 of the previous 99. Victory over Spurs would put him level with Bill Shankly and Rafa Benitez on 56 wins. Only Kenny Dalglish with 62 has won more than that in his first century of matches as Reds boss.

Would be nice if he got a testimonial. He deserves a proper send off as much as anyone. Great lad.

I think the line about 'feelings the effects of playing regularly in a league that is as physically demanding as the PL' .... is telling.
