Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

Sterling is great, but I've been saying for a long time now that Coutinho is Liverpool's best player, I think he could play for most top teams. Don't know what the opinion of Liverpool fans is though.

I call bullshit. Why would it not worry you?

How can you call bullshit about what I'm feeling? I've said repeatedly I'm not worried about Sterling's or Henderson's contract situations. In both cases it is about money, not anything else. Why would that worry me? We can just end up paying them what they want if it comes to that.

I think Coutinho's inconsistency lets him down. But I don't really see a stand out player from Liverpool this season compared to last.

Definitely more of a team effort but that was probably inevitable considering Suarez's departure. Sterling, Coutinho and Henderson are their three outstanding players this season imo. Sturridge might be vital in the coming weeks, Ibe has looked decent.

Just hope to Christ that we get that top four spot ahead of them.

I said on here in the summer that Coutinho will be our next 50m+ player when Suarez left. He's not that much yet but give him another season but this time with goals and proper strikers.

Borini, Johnson, Jones, Balotelli, Coates, Aspas, Alberto all likely to leave LFC & possibly Manquillo & Enrique according to James Pearce.

And Lambert since he was already considering moving mid-season (Villas wasn't it ?), highly likely then that he'll be off too.

I would take Sterling in a heartbeat, hard to beleive he is only twenty, his pace opens so many avenues for others to play through. I'd be worried if I was pool.

The likes of Lucas, Gerrard, Skrtel, Sakho and Allen should be fit for the match against Swansea. Brilliant.

Sakho's the one we badly need, hopefully he'll be in the team along with Allen. That will make it the strongest 11 we can put out with a ten day rest/practice period.

Can't wait for tonight. Coutinho.

I think this too. Not sure why as everything points to a 'pool win, but I have a feeling that Swansea will be up for it and will get something.
Reading in the match day thread and everyone is so sure that Swansea will get battered yet everyone seems to forget it's on their patch and they are a decent team.

I'm more confident about next week than tonight, tbh. It's going to be a difficult game for sure, but I'm guessing we'll be well up for it.

Shite first half but excellent tactical changes by BR and a much better second. Could and should have won by a couple.

Dunno about that last sentence. Swansea could and should have been up by at least 2 at the half. But yes, big improvement from Liverpool second half.

We'll be "well up for it" as well, LGV record in big games has thus far been okay, play with the tempo we did against Spurs and I think we are more than capable getting at least a point.

Hang on. Don't United fans say that De Gea is also a part of the team so his brilliant saves can't be classified as luck when they are the deciding factor in a Untied match ? So why is Ming different ? We really should have put some away but C'est La Vie, that's football for you.

He had one great save.. Swansea forwards was just awful tonight.

Didn't say Liverpool were lucky, or that Mignolet's saves don't count, or anything about DDG...was just saying Swansea had a lot of good opportunities in the first half they didn't capitalize on.

Liverpool gave their players a break and it showed tonight, all of them were running on 75%. Laxidaisical passing and slow to react to a situation. Rodgers did the right thing by keeping his wingbacks right back in the first half, while we shook the cobwebs off. Swansea had two shots on target of any meaning. Two. Both from outside the box. They played well and would have beaten most lesser sides (Utd, etc) but they weren't getting past us that easily.

Second half we saw some of that vavavoom and we won. Simples. The Utd game will not be this slow tempo'ed from us, we will go for the kill. Just need to watch out for the second balls from hoofs up to Fellaini. Other than that 100 miles an hour football against that Utd team will be too much for them to handle.

I wouldn't be so sure. There'll definitely be the risk that you catch us with a high line, but all we'll need to do against your "shit or bust out of the blocks" rush is sit back and hit you on the counter.

I was referring to the Swansea game in the second sentence :) Saying we'll be well up for United at home would be stating the obvious..

Nonsense. Mignolet made 2 very good saves and Swansea got 2 crosses to an unmarked player within 8 yards of goal in the first half.

Liverpool played much better in the 2nd half, but did they create more than one real chance before Henderson tackled the ball into the net? Coutinho had a nice low, near post attempt that Fabianski saved. Don't remember anything else until the goal.

If 1 of Gomis or Sigurdsson had been sharper it's 1-1 at worst.

Nah. You can't go around saying that. It's not like they had any great chances or anything. That's like saying if Coutinho's shot had been 1 ft lower, or Allen had more pace on his diverted shot, or Sterling had kept the ball down with only the keeper to beat, or Moreno had kept his shot down or Sturridge hadn't hit the post etc. etc. .... you see how silly that gets.

First half was very shabby for the Scouses and the second only slightly improved. The goal was lucky in a game where they rode their luck. Gerrard calmed things when he came on. Rodgers' post match comments were somewhat overblown given the overall quality of the game, but that seems to be the common tone of all post match comments. Everything seems to be leading towards a very tactical game on Sunday.

I would expect a much improved performance from Liverpool next week. We need to start well and not be pushed back early on. They started very well even at OT and it took a Rooney goal to kill that momentum.

Hopefully, it will not be the seasonal crap we churn out at Anfield.

I'm confident we can beat this lot. The Scouse are awful at the back.

The amount of goals we've let in recently would suggest otherwise

Very much so I fact, if anything it would suggest we've become a difficult team to score against surely?

Granted we've seemed nervy at times at the back, but in out last 9 League games we've let in just 3 goals, somethings proving difficult for the opposition to score
