Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

Less embarrassed than the ones who got thrashed 4-0 by a league one side and drew to a team in league two.

Great, another game added to our already congested fixture list over the next month that we could have done without, and another shithouse of a championship goalie that turns up at anfield with De Gea's stuck on hands.

Oh, and another shit performance from Kevin Friend on top of the one at Fulham few year ago. He shouldn't be fit to referee a game after those penalty decisions at Sunderland.

Can we just admit that Markovic's diving makes it harder to believe when he's genuinely fouled. He's almost as quick to run to the referee as Tadic (not that I dislike either player because they're both great workers and fun to watch).

The Guardian and the Telegraph both saying that Sturridge could make his return on Tuesday. The fact that all the major papers are running with the story tonight makes me think that he'll at least be an option on the bench for that match.

What's the deal with Sturridge? Is it just bad luck or is there something more to all his recent injury problems?

He's just made of cookies and glass unfortunately. Great player, like Walcott, but couldn't survive a gust of wind.

I love Theo (most of the time), but Sturridge is a step above. If he's fit the rest of the season I think you'll get top four.

Unchanged team from the first leg. Hopefully humongous D is fit enough to be on the bench.

Happy with that, I'd have gone with the same line-up (Lallana looked too rusty against Bolton to start against Chelsea). Not worried about Sturridge though, give him the entire game off if that's what he needs.

Currently looking a better side than us. Good thing is is that they have terrible keeping and a back line that's even below ours. This means they can lose to any team.

Hopefully all their games coming up screws them over.

I think they'll knock Chelsea out tonight. Chelsea have looked a bit wank recently and Liverpool are gathering some form, I think they'll scrape through.

Nah, not at the Bridge. Chelsea will want to bounce back after Bradford. Jose will have them as fired up as Liverpool were in the first leg.

I dunno. I don't even know if he cares that much about the league cup, and I think Liverpool will edge it. They've looked convincing recently. I know the odds aren't really in their favour, but I'm sure EssexRob will bet on Chelsea which will ensure Liverpool go through.

Our defence hasn't been that bad since we changed system (Lucas coming back in and Lovren being dropped helped too). It's still not fantastic but there's been a definite improvement.

Ha! Well I hope you're wrong but agree that pool are playing some good stuff lately, and it should mean a lot more to Rodgers since it is a chance of that elusive first trophy. But how often does Mourinho lose back to back home games?

Could be 2-2 or 1-1 and go to pens. Chelsea don't have to lose.

My gut feeling is that we'll go through but I always think that for big games so we'll probably go out.

Assuming the first leg finished 1-1, which I think it did, then 2-2 would take Liverpool through after extra time on the away goals rule again assuming my understanding that away goals count after extra time is true.

Our backline really hasn't been terrible as of late. Speaking of even more recent times, Mignolet hasn't been bad either.

He cares about it. He always cares about domestic cups. He'll care even more about it because he's playing us.

Aye good point. Forgot about that.

So how you think it'll go tonight?

I think we'll end up losing the tie. It'll be another one of those annoying heroic defeats. We battered them despite the referee last match and I think we'll perform well again tonight, but go out to some dodgy goal.

You played very well but apart from a couple of chances, you didn't test Courtois enough. Ref had nothing to do with it.

We'll win by the exact same scoreline Chelsea wrecked our dreams last season at the Bridge: 2-0. Gerrard will score one of them after one of Cahill or Terry slips.

Was discussing him in the match thread in the youth team forum. Do pool fans expect Ibe to get any game time after his recall from loan??

Yes. He wouldn't have been recalled otherwise. I reckon he'll start most Europa league games and be used as an impact sub in the league.

Who's ref tonight by the way? There isn't really any standout referees but hopefully it's one of the less shit ones.
