Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

Lallana, Can, Moreno and Manquillo all have been successes so far. As you say, Markovic is improving and I expect him to be one too. I have no hope for Lovren, Lambert or Balotelli.

If can and manquillo have been successes, then I wish you many more.

He is, but then you are banking on an almost instant return to form. He's done it in the past, but he hasn't suffered such a lengthy one before. I think you'll break sixty-points, as Sturridge should at least make a discernible difference and you have been better, but I would be astonished if you amass more than seventy and even a bit surprised at more than sixty-five.

Its a defence posture naturally taken up by fans. We're looking for answers to why our midfield was firing blanks yet leaving gaping holes because we don't want to see the obvious answer.

I'm happy to remove that defensive position and address the problem for what it is. Sturridge coming back won't suddenly cure our woes, but the thought of him doing so will release pain relief chemicals from the brain. Rodgers showed three days ago he has the answer without Sturridge but has decided to fck our season up. Which is fair enough, I believe he did something similar to Reading reading from past articles.

If can and manquillo have been successes, then I wish you many more.

So do I. Both good young players who have come in and performed in hard circumstances. Both should play more than they have and both have performed well when they have played.

Would you give Gerrard a new contract?

I would politely ask him to write off the remaining contract tomorrow, with a decent pay off and he can go to the USA in January. Not in a nasty way.

But a new contract, fck me, what has become of our club and our fans?

Still has a massive influence on the club. Would be a huge loss if he left.

Not even a pay as you play contract or one with slightly less wages? He's a club legend and still has his uses. He just needs to be managed instead of playing every game (I'm ignoring the rumours and perception that he influences that as that would be too far).

We had issues when club legends legs were going but to get rid you need to replace them. We never did that with Scholes, Giggs, and Rio so they carried on playing here and there. It isn't like he's holding players back as you don't have the quality of Mascherano & Alonso in midfield.

Who would become club captain?

That's nonsense.

Considering you're considerably worse than last year, despite losing only one player (albeit an important one), I think it's fair to say that none of your signings has significantly improved you, if at all.

Went for a walk with my dog and Liverpool was leading 2-0, came home and saw the result... Feel a bit better now.

Which signings have improved your first team? Moreno I would guess. Any others?

If you take our previous team as:

Mignolet; Johnson, Skrtel, Agger/Sakho/Toure, Flanagan; Gerrard, Coutinho, Henderson, Sterling; Sturridge and Suarez.

I would argue Manquillo has been performing significantly better than Johnson and Moreno over Flanagan. Last year's front six was always going to be extremely difficult to improve on and we didn't improve there.

Only two signings were expected to immediately improve what was there before them in Moreno and Lovren.

It's not. Say your team is: Conference player; Conference player, Conference player, Conference player, Conference player; Conference player, Conference player, Conference player, Conference player; Suarez, Messi.

Summer rolls around and Suarez and Messi leave. With the money you earn you go out and make some new signings and your new team looks like:

Conference player; League 1 player, League 1 player, Conference player, Conference player; Conference player, Conference player, League 1 player, Conference player; Conference player, Conference player.

Your team has has improved in three positions, but the team as a whole will still be significantly worse.

It's mental and extreme, I know, but it should (hopefully) illustrate my point.

I wonder if Conference player; Conference player, Conference player, Conference player, Conference player; Conference player, Conference player, Conference player, Conference player; Suarez, Messi could do it on a cold Tuesday night at Stoke

thats a pretty roundabout way of saying your team has got worse.

The problem you have is that you've added to the squad but the first team has gone backwards, no matter who's in it.

But last season you never suffered from having a small squad (no major injuries to your first team, not that many games) . Which means that you don't feel the benefit of a larger squad this year, you just feel the impact of a worse first team.

So Lovren is out of the team or injured?
What do Liverpool fans here think, is there a future for him at Anfield. I know he played just half the season but he has been horrendous.

They were (regrettably) very good against Swansea. What happened today, surely can't all be down to Slippy?

Care to tell us which single player has SIGNIFICANTLY improved Liverpool ? Moreno is probably the only one who is even close

Swansea tried to overrun us in midfield but Hendo and Lucas ran and ran. Leicester didn't even have to try to dominate our midfield, Lucas next to Gerrard is a midfield no other club in the top 72 teams would ever think about putting out there. So in summary, yes it was Gerrard.

Many of our defenders were injured, Coutinho missed a few weeks, Allen was injured, Sturridge missed a couple of months, Gerrard missed our two hardest games, etc.

Coutinho made 33 league appearances, Gerrard 34. Those are not major injuries. Allen was, by your own admission, not in your first team. Of your defenders, the players missing were no better than the ones that played.

sturridge missed maybe 4 or 5 games more than you would expect (he made 29 appearances, most of your outfield first teamers made 33 to 36.) Hardly outlandish.

You expect a few injuries here and then, suspensions too. But you can't honestly claim it was a problem for you last year.

Sturridge is coming back, he's been coming back since August. Half a season out so far. Even if he's back to his best it'll more than likely be too late for him to save you. Today was one of those games you'll pinpoint at the end of season as a game that's cost you dearly. 2-0 up at home to the bottom team and most around you drew or lost. There should've been 3 points in the bag today

I wonder what the dressing room thinks of Rodgers' constant selection of Gerrard over other more deserving players to start.

Where do you stand on the Gerrard debate? Do you want him to move onto the MLS or would you keep him?

Personally, I'd keep him and use him sparingly. It sounds like he's not willing to accept a squad role though. Don't think midfield is our only problem either - playing him today made sense for me.

I think he's gone though mate.

Edit: Tony Barrett saying it now too.
