Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

What on earth was he doing. There is no reasonable explanation for that, the guy is just lost.

How they finished 2nd with that clown in one of your most important positions defies all logic.
More proof how huge an anomaly last season really was.

Or the effect a world class player can have on a team.

I mean look what RvP did for us in 2012/13.

We still had a decent set of players to be fair, we even had a decent midfield if you look at Carrick,Scholes and Giggs appearances and couple that with having a world class manager.
Suarez was certainly pivotal last year though, who knew.

Plus they had no games but leagues games from an early stage and the top 4 were all out of sorts. Normal service has just resumed this season imo.

Retrospective action for Sterling? Bet you they give him a one game ban for the FA cup game against Wimbledon.

Can only be retrospective action if the ref didn't see the incident. He clearly saw it, he just decided to do feck all about it. His linesman was right beside Sterling FFS.

That ruling changed a whole ago, no? I'm sure they can take action now even if the ref has seen it.

Should be but hopefully not. If they take action it'll be a 3 game ban though, not 1. Just a matter of whether they do.

Cisse got done for his elbow. So it's just a case of whether the FA pick up on Sterling and Shelvey.

Can't believe no one in that sky studio knows about the changes to retrospective action allowed to be taken.

Shocking.

You play better football without Gerrard.

Been saying it since last season. And certainly after the world cup. Not sure what's going on between him and Brendan.

Without Lovren and, crucially, Gerrard tonight I was relaxed that our midfield wouldn't be over run and the defence would have a modicum of protection. Actually worked out better than I expected, with Henderson finally coming out of Gerrard's shadow (yet again). But its all about Brendan....and the rent. :(

Swansea were dire but Liverpool looked sharp and scored 4 goals on that awful pitch..

Without Suarez AND Sturridge. Maybe Suarez flew in unnoticed to help Brendan out yet again. ;)

Gerrard should be a bit part player like he should have been for England at the world cup for the last 10-15 minutes off the striker and for his set pieces. Henderson and Lallana looked better without him to always pass to.

Absolutely. I believe in Rodgers' tactics. Have done since his first season. Despite all his misunderstood blabbering the man's got a proper philosophy that actually works with average-ish players too. (See my location).

Its only when he has brain farts (buying Lovren, Balotelli, playing Gerrard ALL the ficking time) that he spoils it for himself.

Been saying it since last season.

You were wrong then and you're still wrong now! Gerrard still adds a lot to this squad. People on here said the exact same thing when we beat Spurs 5-0 last season when Gerrard was injured, yet we then went on a run of eleven straight wins with him in the team. Gerrard is still a class player, he just needs to be play once a week. We shouldn't have situations where Henderson is shunted to right wing back just so Gerrard can play though.

I don't want to belittle our club legend. But if we carried on playing with SASAS after that 5-0 and Gerrard considered leaving that summer we'd actually have a plan to play without him already. But now, in December, we're reaching an epiphany that's he may actually be holding us back. In December 2014. Now, we're realising this. :(

Buying Lovren at the time made sense. If this summer we end up with only Lovren, Balotelli and Lambert not working out (which is what I think will happen), then we'll have done very well for ourselves.

Gerrard was a massive part of how we played though. A ridiculously big part. He and Sterling were our best players in the run in when Sturridge and Suarez ran out of steam. He played a massive role in starting attacks and getting the ball forward quickly. We scored what felt like a million goals from his corners and free kicks. He also took a very high number of penalties which were high pressured and didn't let us down in that regard. Off the pitch his and Toure's leadership has been referred to by many of our players.

Last season does not happen if we don't have Steven Gerrard in our team.

Too late, the bubble is blown and is now floating away. :D
Ha, it's been a very interesting last 18 months, that's for sure. Predictions should be banned out of sight.
On tonight's game, it was a pacy performance from Liverpool and a deserved win, having no Gerrard certainly helped. You have to wonder if Rogers has the balls to drop him, I certainly hope not ;)
Definitely echoe the sentiments regarding Sterling, what a stupid petulant thing to do, again though losing him might be a blessing both for him and Liverpool.

The nature of football 'analysis' is how players are doing right now. Liverpool win well without Gerrard so the agenda bias kicks in to confirm that Liverpool player better without Gerrard. This ignores the poverty of the performances from numerous other players or, indeed, the value that Gerrard has added to the side in games this season. I'm not suggesting Gerrard gets an automatic pick next time round but I do think he's a damn sight better than this forum has you believe...which isn't difficult.
