Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

They look mentally shot. Rodger's must be regretting his summer signings. They've all been wank.

City were terrible against Leicester yesterday.....no one cares about that.......everything is fine.
But United are playing poor and winning......it's negative.

We have played great against Hull but everyone has said "It was just Hull City....calm down"
We have played a lot of great football under Fergie too but it always just "Arsenal's amazing attacking football" in all those years.

Yes i was very unhappy with our performance against Southampton and today was decent.

But at the moment i prefer to win than playing well, especially this season.

That's exactly it. Every other top four team is allowed to have a poor game but still win, aside from us. We weren't even poor today for the record aside from a few understandable errors at the back and shock horror, having a top class goalkeeper. The shame in that!

Also, If City, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool were on the streak we are on while missing their equivalent of Di Maria, Shaw, Falcao, Blind and constant key CB's injured...

It's crazy/hilarious to think about how it's all gone wrong for them from the moment Gerrard mis controlled that pass and fell over.

Seen a few Liverpool fans say that's their best performance since they won 3-0 at Spurs in August. Very worrying for them if that's the case.

It was the Moyes statue too, I reckon. How silly is that looking in all seriousness?

Out of interest, if he'd won the title and they'd had the same results so far this season, would his job still be under threat? It's an interesting thought. He'd be having the same problems and there'd be the same reasons to sack him, but he'd have the shield of having finally won them the title. It'd be a tough one for the owners.

A January move for Petr Cech perhaps?

Jose has talked down chances of transfer mid-season but I think a decent offer could tempt us.
They are in all competitions. Mourinho needs him for the League Cup and most FA-Cup games.

Schwarzer is a better back-up goalkeeper than Jones for Liverpool but a injury to Courtois (He's injured right now) for 3-4 weeks in March/April and he could go out in a few competitions with a goalkeeper like Schwarzer.

Cech will surely go in the summer and Chelsea will buy a "normal back-up goalkeeper" but no way he will sell Cech in January unless it's a 20m offer.

(And if Cech is available then Arsenal should be in for him)

The Carroll transfer was far, far worse. In Carroll's case there were other alternatives who we could have signed that would have been brilliant additions (Falcao for instance, but many others who weren't on his level too). In Lovren's case, there aren't many quality centre backs that are available and it made little difference whether we spent money on Rojo, Vermaelen, Mangala, etc. All of them have been bad (or in Vermaelen's case, injured).

Well good if that's a consolation. Honestly, Rojo , mangala both have been better and atleast both are expected to be decent even if they fail. Whereas every Lyon,Zagreb and Croatian fan knew Lovren is bang average.

Heard they're interested in getting the keeper Ochoa from Malaga. He's second choice to Kameni and wants to play.

The way I could see Rodgers leaving and it making sense is if he loses more transfer power (either to a new hire or someone already there). I still think he's a very good coach, and the more defensive or canny parts of tactics and getting a result are something you'd expect a talented young manager to pick up.

But the transfers, Jesus.

Apart from Sterling, they don't have a single player who's a clear upgrade for us. Sturridge vs. Rooney vs. Van Persie vs. Falcao is a clusterfeck and not worth getting into, but otherwise i'd play:

------RVP/Falcao/Sturridge---
-Sterling----Rooney/Mata
----DiMaria--------Herrera---
-------Carrick/Blind--------
Shaw--------------------Rafael
-------Rojo---Smalling--------
----------De Gea---------------

So if Sterling doesn't resign it's basically an upper-mid table squad with a top striker, which is what Villa or Swansea are when their star 9 is on form.

They need a DM to play behind Henderson and Coutinho, one of Markovic or Lallana to start looking dangerous consistently across from Sterling, Sturridge to come back, Moreno to come good, a new CB to drag one of Sakho, Lovren or Skrtel back to competence and a new RB and keeper.

And without CL football to convince players to come.

You very well might be. Gerrard is past it, you have no striker (Balotelli and Lambert are massive flops, Sturridge his usual injury prone self) and you have a host of players coming in to a team that did so well until the game against Palace last year which really didn't need so many new faces.

Liverpool are decidely below average and will flirt with relegation this year - I stand by that.

I just want to bring this up again.

How many new players are they starting most matches? They basically bought a new squad in the summer. No wonder they are struggling. Add Balotelli to the mix and I can really see them flirting with relegation this year.

October the 2nd.............

Why did they buy Mario Balofeckingtelly?

I just want to bring this up again.

They're still not going to be in a relegation battle. In the current state, there's a chance they could end up having a very poor season, but even then I don't see them finishing any lower than around 10th.

If Sturridge comes back and they strengthen in January, they'll probably finish about 6th/7th.

I don't understand why they just don't sign Begovic.

Knowing Brenton he will end up signing Vorm on loan.

I love how liverpool fans say they were missing Suarez today/this season. It isn't as though he is injured or suspended. He's been sold for Christ sake.

We may have lost to Newcastle but in fairness we were missing Lampard and Cole.

They could do a lot worse than hire McClaren (if they dispose of BR). Rebuilt his reputation after England job, plays nice football and is well known as one of the best coaches in the country.

Far more qualified for the job than BR.

Joke time, old but gold.

How does a Liverpool fan change a light bulb?

They don't, they just talk about how good the old one was.

Quite frankly I count every league title since 09 as Uniteds. Because at the end of the day, we've just been missing Ronaldo.

Begivic would leave us in the same position we are in now. So would Vorm. Goalkeeper is the one area we really can't half-arse.

The transfer committee which is made up of a couple of scouts (who head a network), Rodgers and Ayre I think.

I must be old fashioned. Always think it should be the manager who calls the shots with signings, but seems to happen less and less these days. That said, I read on here earlier Rodgers wasn't in favour of Sturridge. Who gave the go-ahead on Balotelli and Lambert? Seem totally at odds with what you were trying to build.

Completely agree. I'm fed up with Mignolet, and everyone on here probably knows with the amount I bang on about him, but if the right* keeper isn't available then we need to stick it out for the season. Another short term fix is not what we need.

*who the 'right' keeper is, I've no idea.

The right keeper is Hugo Lloris. Never will happen though.

What do you make of Kiko Casilla?

Rodgers didn't want Sturridge and was backed into a corner with Balotelli being told it was him or no one. No idea about Lambert.

Yeah, Lloris would be perfect. As would a fully fit Valdés but the Man Utd links and his fitness are two big question marks.

Kiko Casilla...well, I've liked what I've seen of him but to be honest I don't watch as much Spanish football as I used to so I'm not the best man to ask.

Tbh i'd go for a begovic now.
There aren't that many great keepers knocking about and i wouldn't trust mignolet as a reserve on current form.
All the obvious choices like Lloris will probably have more tempting offers to be fair.
A decent keeper would be a pretty huge upgrade.

Mignolet is decent, he's just in horrendous form. No point spending £10m on another keeper who we'll then struggle to shift a year later.

We should of made a move for him in the summer, we were in Europe. He wanted to play in CL, he might of handed a transfer request, we might of had to pay top dollar for him (not like we didn't have any) but still should of tried it on.

Casilla is alright. Wouldn't solve the issue though, similar to Begovic. An improvement short term but would need replaced to challenge.

I bet table topping Bournemouth are gunning for Liverpool this week. They're a team that loves to attack and they're in great form.

Can't decide how I'd feel if I were a Liverpool fan. If they lose, obviously there's pressure that comes from that.

But if they win, they gain a pair of games home and away to one of Chelsea, Southampton or Spurs (assuming the favourites all win in this round). Not only that, both games are in January which gives them a fairly punishing run of fixtures from now til the internal break in March. Poisoned chalice?
