Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

I'll die a happy man if we beat you on Sunday. Am going to the match so it'll be even better if we manage to.

Glad we're still in the Europa too.

Sad that someone who spends all of Liverpool's games on a Man United forum has managed to get a ticket for their biggest game of the season ahead of supporters who try to never miss a game.

Remind me, which team is it that sings about the other team when they're not even playing each other? Who is it that serenades the other team's captain when he's miles away from them? Oh right, that would be you lot.

Remind me, who is the Liverpool fan who posts on a Manchester United forum on the night his team is knocked out of the Champions League?

Oh right, that would be you. Oh and @Rafateria and @Bob Loblaw

Ah yeah, the perfect irony, Liverpool is out yet he's writing here in United forum and he's saying he'll die a happy mean if they beat us.

They've been an absolute embarrassment in the CL this season. They waited 5 years to get in, won just one game, threw the Madrid match and ended up with a -4 goal difference.

Shambles.

Yep they were very, very poor when their summer recruitment was meant to give them depth to be able to be competitive on multiple fronts.

£25m man Lallana didn't even get on the pitch tonight. Lambert taken off with no striker on the bench. It's actually incredible how badly they have used the Suarez money.

Europe's top players already didn't want to join them, after watching that shambles, they've got no chance of signing top class players.

Markovic has to start games. Looked good when he came on and offers us pace and the ability to beat a man. I'd go with a 4-3-3 and have Sterling and Markovic on each flank, have Gerrard play as a striker and go Henderson, Lucas and Coutinho or Lallana in the midfield. If he does not want to do that, then promote Sinclair and give him a chance.

With £130m odd (Transfermarkt) spent this summer this squad should now be amongst the favourites for the Europa League. Win that and top 4 isn't a requirement anymore, their fans get a trophy and Rodgers is a genius again with CL status secured. It would also offer Sterling, Lambert, Lallana, Lovren, Mignolet etc exposure to European football they clearly need having fallen short this season during games.

If they treat it more seriously than City or we did then there's invaluable lessons for them to learn here, especially the players who have barely featured in Europe before, it's far from doom and gloom and I for one wouldn't be surprised at seeing them get into the Champions League on another technicality without league qualification.

Just another opportunity to reboot our season. EL is not meaningless anymore, so might be funny for now but you'll be wishing we get knocked out of that soon enough. It's a back up plan if things domestically don't look great feb/march, and we have a chance to sneak in through the back door.

Don't disagree with any of that. If Rodgers gets us into the top seven and wins the Europa league I won't be complaining. Easier said than done though.

Who are the strong teams in the Europa? Do they have a genuine chance?

Zenit dropped in tonight too and while some may snigger, AVB is a proven winner in this comp.

Currently qualified teams:

Tottenham Hostpur, Besiktas, Red Bull Salzburg, Celtic, Dynamo Moscow, PSV, Inter, Feyenoord, Everton, Napoli, Dynamo Kyiv, Fiorentina, Legia Warsaw, Trabzonspor, Olympiacos, Zenit St Petersburg, Anderlecht and Liverpool.

Thanks, some tough teams. They probably have a chance if they can regain their form, big if.

Steven Gerrard Liverpool's New Number 9.

As good as a marquee signing that is.

Gerrard as a striker! What are you smoking?

Nothing. He's better than anyone else we have at the moment.

I'd fancy us against all of those teams excluding Napoli.

You couldnt beat Ludo away and needed a very soft peno at home.

You only scored one goal in the 4 games in the rest of the group and that was from a set piece.

Then you may as we'll play a random fan up front because Gerrard is no striker

You'd be better playing sterling down the middle and utilise his pace

I'm just picturing Barney sat behind his keyboard right now. It's beautiful.

That would just be taking the piss out of Lambert. How is Gerrard more useful than Lambert as a striker?

The majority of the sides they can be drawn against in the Europa League would beat them, of that I'm confident.

If they don't post, it's "where did all the Liverpool fans go when they got knocked out of the CL" and when they do, it's no good either? I for one am massively disappointed but what should I do, cry in a corner and not come on here tonight? Not everyone has the opportunity to go to the games you know, especially Champions League ones.

Its his post that United fans sing about Liverpool and Gerrard when not playing Liverpool which started it so it was a perfect irony. Its perfectly ok for a Liverpool fan to come here tonight esp. after a defeat but its a bit strange when a Liverpool fans is writing in 5 or 6 threads in a United forum on a night when his team has lost - and then says we are obsessed with Liverpool..
