Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

It amazes me how open Liverpool always look when they turn the ball over. It's probably part of this risk style that Rodgers plays (and worked last year) but they are creating very little for all the numbers they throw forward. Also, what is the deal with Henderson?

Drop Mignolet, Skrtel, Lovren, Gerrard, Lambert and Sterling for the midweek game. Pathetic displays from all of them. Get Lallana, Coutinho, Moreno, Manquillo, Toure, Sakho and Can on the pitch and surround them with players who aren't the ones list previously.

To repeat from PL Gameweek 12 thread...

Liverpool have lost 6 in 12 Premier League games this season.

They have a 50% loss record in the league so far.

They only lost 6 games in 38 last season.

The difference between Aston Villa and Liverpool this season is only 1 win, with Villa having a game in hand to be played tomorrow.

They're also closer to 0 points than they are to the leaders.

It would be utter lunacy.

1. He deserves time after last season.
2. Who do we get in at this point that's better?

If we're going to sack him, then it has to be done after the season. Any worse than 6th and I wouldn't be sorry to see him go, but unless we're lingering in the bottom half I won't actively be calling for his head for this season and one more.

I posted this in the match day thread, but I should add this: If Rodgers continues to persist with the senior names rather than playing players who deserve to play, then he'll have less backing from me. Has to start picking based on merit rather than on name. This midweek game is crucial and will tell us a lot about him as a manager.

If he picked on merit then he wouldn't be able to field a full 11.

Why don't they just install Gerrard as player-manager. It looks like Rodgers is far too scared to drop him or sub him.

And how does Johnson still start games for them?

More than Rodgers you need to look at the transfer policy. It has been a disaster for a while and not just this year.

I'm still happy enough with the majority of the transfers we made this summer. Manquillo, Moreno, Can and Lallana have all looked good so far and I expect Origi and Markovic to end up being successful here too.

Gerrard should not a) play in front of the back four as it's just suicidal football.
b) be starting anymore.
Rodgers is a coward for not making this big decision to drop him.

You're right. Jones, Manquillo, Toure, Sakho, Moreno, Lucas, Can, Coutinho, Lallana. The last two spots I'm struggling with.

It was the same as last season here - Moyes uninspired me as much as anyone else, but the players needed to take some of the blame too.

I actually think this is the perfect time to drop Gerrard. It's what the team needs from a performance perspective, and the message it sends might actually resonate with some of the other players.

Possible Manchester United starting 11 against Liverpool.
De Gea, Rafael, McNair, Smalling, Shaw, Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera, Di Maria, Rooney, Falcao

Possible Liverpool starting 11 against Manchester United
Mignolet, Moreno, Lovren, Skrtl, Manquillo, Gerrard, Coutinho, Allen, Lallana, Sterling, Balotelli

Can't wait to play this lot
More confident against them than I am against Hull next week.

They're going to up their level for this match, you can be 100% sure of that. They won't be as horrible as they've recently been but we have enough quality to beat them.

Manquillo, Moreno, Can all are potential good players who still require time to get on with it on a regular basis. What Liverpool needed were players who could make a difference right now. The players brought in to make that difference have been utterly shocking. Nothing is guaranteed in transfers but Liverpool may have been complacent in deciding to look far ahead than looking at the present, it might work in the long run when all these young players start gelling together, but for the current season it looks a bit grim.

The problem is that mathematically, 6 players is not the majority of the transfers you made.

Rafa did the same - buy quantity over quality. I know you needed to add to your squad because of the demands of CL football this year, but when you lose a player like Suarez, I think you need to make a statement signing - both from on on-pitch and off-pitch perspective.

Lallana hasn't been shocking, he's been one of our better players this season. Agree with most of the rest.

One of the side effects of a team playing well is that the club's fans start to ignore weaknesses in the side and overrate weaker members of the team.

This happened to us during SAF's final years. Momentum and success glossed over the fact that we were getting weaker and led to a lot of players getting overrated (to varying degrees). Then, when success faltered and we needed these players to step up and get things back on track, we saw that these players were nowhere near contributing in the way we hoped they would.

The same thing has happened to Liverpool. Or, to put it another way, a lot of players they thought outsiders underrated are turning out to be as crap as opposition fans always thought they were.

That was actually one of the worst parts of last season: realising players you were depending on coming good weren't really good enough.

Stoke, Leicester, Sunderland, Us, Arsenal, Burnley and then Swansea before the year is out. They'll be in amongst the mix at the end season. A big wobble but not panic stations yet.

Yes it is. We signed nine players. Agree re. The statement signing.
